This place makes dreams come true! That's it. I was a completely clueless guy, overwhelmed with where to even start when shopping for an engagement ring. Through a friend's recommendation (already a good sign), I went to see Richard, and he helped guide me through what to actually look for. I have a ring that needs re-sizing and a bracelet which needed repairs. I was fearful of going to just any place and made sure I conducted as much research as possible. I found NJC through trusted Yelp which has never let me down. I called a couple days ahead of time and made an appointment for Saturday. I unfortunately could not make that first appointment and had to call and they got me right in the same day. Rich helped me over the phone and was kind and patient. Incredible craftsmanship and skill and pride in craft in this establishment. One of the only jewlery stores I've ever done business with that has both REAL jewelers and a REAL watchmaker. I took in a very sentimental watch with a cheap japanese movement that was gifted to me by a friend whose time and date setting mechanism was broken. Rich, while extremely friendly, told me in a very matter of fact way that the watchmaker had poor experiences with similar watches in the past and that success couldn't be guaranteed with this kind of project, but eventually caved when I told him i was more than happy to pay the watchmaker for his time regardless of the outcome. The watch ended up needing parts replaced in its keyless works (the setting bridge and some gears i believe). The minute hand hole was also oversized. Luckily, i found a movement similar enough online that the watchmaker was able to cannibalise the parts he needed and make the original movement work. Now the truly impressive part to me is that he WELDED THE MINUTE HAND HOLE SHUT AND RE-DRILLED IT. It's a thing of beauty. Freaking true and dead center. These guys are true craftsmen and masters of their craft. Have confidence for ANY project or work you need done because they are the real deal. THANK YOU RICH AND WATCHMAKER. read more

If every store I went to was like this business, the world would be a better place. My father passed away and I inherited his Rolex. The watch hadn't been worn for a very long time and you could tell that it wasn't running as well as it should. The glass was scuffed pretty bad and the winding action was sluggish. Being that this has a ton of sentimental value, I struggled to find a reputable place that could service it, mostly because of my own apprehensions. I wasn't going to leave this with anyone. I read through almost all of the reviews for Newark Jewelry on Yelp and found 1 that mentioned a Rolex overhaul. So I gave it a shot. I don't regret it at all. Shelly and Rich are AMAZING. They have been at this location for a very long time. Rich was able to tell me a lot about the watch (and Rolex' in general). I could have chatted with the both of them all day. The overhaul price was reasonable. When I got it back I was pretty speechless. I'm not going to lie, I almost started to tear up. The watch came back in perfect condition and was even set to the correct time and date. The moisture damage/buildup on the dial was completely removed (except the second hand, which I specifically told Rich not to replace). Extremely glad that I came here and will definitely not have any problem bringing any and all businesses to this place.
