The chicken was fresh and smelled great but that's where it ends. My husband was asked 3 times if he could pay for purchases for people in the store. The bathrooms were gross. The hand dryer was broke. The toilets were disgusting. The guy cooking the chicken was very nice. The girl at the counter could have cared less about anything. The parking lot was covered in trash and really sketchy people hanging around. Overall, not my favorite Royal Farms but it seems that most are going downhill in the area. Sad. read more

I went to the Royal farms on Allentown and rte.5 in Clinton MD at 605am on Wednesday 12/17 to get gas. I entered to pay cash for gas. I didn't see any employees when I first walked in. I saw a gentlemen stooped down behind the counter, he stated he wasn't on the clock yet then pointed. I turned around and saw a heavy set female employee. She was carrying a box and slothly moved to place the box down. Then slower than the turtle in the race vs. the hare, she walked behind the counter to the register. I said good morning she said nothing. I proceeded to give her $25, a 20 and a 5. I had the money spread like you would if you had playing cards in your hand, so when I handed her the money she grabbed at it but the $5 fell on the counter. She then says you need to pick that up and I said no I'm not (for she was the one that dropped it). Then she tells the man behind the counter waiting to clock in that she's not ringing me up, you do it. Which he did and he displayed a better level of professionalism. I suggest you hire an older crew for the AM. Her unpleasant behavior is not what any person wants to experience early in the am. Please talk to this person about etiquette and professionalism. I in no way want her to lose her job. But she has to do better. You do not bring outside of work issues to work. read more

The credit card machines at the pumps never work, there is always trash everywhere outside, the coffee section is always covered in fruit flies and missing kids and stir sticks. They NEVER have the cigarettes I and a lot of other people smoke. This place 100% needs to be closed or have new management. My guess would be you don't pay enough to get a good qualified leader in there. You're losing money. read more

Laura, one of the cashiers, was extremely unfriendly, rude, and lacked empathy. I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. This was my second time trying to give this place a chance and see how customers are treated, but it was a mistake. I usually go to Wawa across the street, where the atmosphere is welcoming and the customer service is excellent. I am willing to pay a little more to be treated well. There is a Royal Farms that has people who work there that care about a clean store, good customer service and good. Stopped there just after midnight. That must be a key time for the turn over of food. I got a chicken breast, chicken tenders and western fries. All were hot hot hot. The food tasted good. The fries were amazing. Best Western Fries I have had at Royal Farms. The chicken was cooked great, hot, juicy. A bit too salty, someone was a little heavy on the salt, but not too much it was inedible. If it was not for the chicken being too salty, I would give this visit 5 stars, but knocking off a star for the over seasoning. If you have a hankering for Royal Farms Chicken. STAY AWAY from the PATHETIC, location at National Harbor, they need to push it into the Potomac and let it sink. Go a few extra miles, its worth the distance. read more

It's not something that I would crave if I wanted fried chicken. There are a few other options nearby. A few friends told me that the chicken was waaaay salty. My husband suggested that I ask if they could not add any salt to my order - he thought I would find it salty as well. I asked the cook if I could have little or no salt and she informed me that the seasoning/flour that they use is preseasoned. That kinda sucks! Luckily, my batch of chicken was not salty. I have determined that this is road trip food - not every weekend/month eating. I do like the western fries. They kinda sorta remind me of holly farms. One other thing that I noticed. I just love these two ladies everytime I stop for lunch. One young lady with long locks named Ms.Brown makes the best sandwiches and is always polite and beautiful! Also, the young lady i believe named Keta has great cooking skills and customer service skills! Her chicken looks and tastes good. Very polite and hard working . Also I can't forget a charming and funny young man named Tae at the register and in kitchen has great customer service skills! He is always working hard! Please give these hardworking people a raise because I have seen whike dealing with rude customers! This location of Royal Farms is deplorable. It's almost like the conditions here are intentionally created. They always seem understaffed. The coolers are always empty. Everything is always so disheveled. I went in the other day, I usually wouldn't, to use the restroom. The restroom was in horrible conditions. One urinal was FILLED with urine. The toilet was stopped up. I notified someone but they didn't seem to care. I don't think it's fair to open up these locations all over the county but then immediately abandon them. The trash cans outside are always full. Something is always broken. Something is always out of stock. I will be reporting this and the National Harbor location to the BBB and Department of Health. read more

We happened to be in the area early in Saturday morning and thought we'd give them a try for a quick on the go breakfast instead of our go-to McDonald's. The store was clean, tidy, well lighted, inviting. All the staff were genuinely friendly and pleasant. Huge disappointment with the food. We ordered sausage biscuits and hash browns. Unlike McDonald's, they heat and assemble your order when you place it. This means you will wait 5-10 minutes. We weren't in a hurry so this wasn't a problem. (They do have a grab-and-go as well but only a limited selection. The unhappy happened when we opened our food on the road. The hash browns were more like cooking oil with loosely-bound-fried-minced-potato. We set them on napkins to absorb some of the grease, which brought them barely into the range of edibility. That didn't keep them from disintegrating when you touched them. The sausage biscuit was much better and more or less enjoyable. The biscuit itself was really enjoyable. The sausage patty was flavorful but suffered from being unnecessarily greasy. I have heard lots of good buzz about their food. I was quite looking forward to trying it. This having been my first time there I don't know if this was an abberration or the way it is supposed to be. I will likely at least try them again at a different location for an additional data point. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Toilet paper in the women's bathroom wasn't on the holder in the bathroom and obviously has been that way for a while because the big @$$ roll was almost empty. Stopped by last night to get some chicken and corn and Mac and cheese. At 8:30 PM all they had was chicken. No sides. Just chicken. What?! I remembered I also wanted some bagels for work and didn't feel like stopping at the grocery store. I discovered bagels that were a week and a half out of date. I then wanted to see what other out of date bread I could find. I discovered two loaves of moldy bread. I took them up to the counter and all they could say was "that's embarrassing. " no note made of corrective action. I'm writing corporate. This is unacceptable and you should question just how fresh the rest of their food is. read more

I heard holy praises about this chicken, so I had to stop by and see what the fuss was about. It's a Wawa of sorts-- convenient store, order food via kiosk with gas pumps available. I expected the famous fried chicken, but seeing the display of fried chicken, fried potato wedges, and not-so-appetizing green beans and mac cheese, I could only pray for the best. Well I got the bad, I guess. I ordered a frozen strawberry lemonade blended ice drink with my chicken box --decent in size and price. I paid for my order, got the drink and finished it before I got my chicken box- 30mins later. There were plenty people in the place dissatisfied that their orders were terribly delayed. Bad management? Expectations set too high? The guilt of fried food and long wait. Yes, I had guilt, but I knew that the chicken would be so good, I'd be fine. I have never experienced a Royal Farms that was in this bad a shape. Drink cases were empty. The Kitchen is a disaster which is why I came for the chicken. This is not the same experience as the kitchens in Baltimore which are always great. The dryers looked like they hadn't been cleaned. Orders were in disarray. Took 5 minutes for a kitchen crew to show up. If you can avoid this RF you should do so this is not the same experience. Corporate should look into removing the franchise if this is one or having someone come down and take over management here. read more

I went to Royal Farm on June 21, 2015 @ 5:00pm. The line was long and they turned off the orders because they couldn't keep up with the demand. Poor management. Second after waiting for 25 minutes the guy serving chicken wiped the sweat from his face and didn't change his gloves. He then proceed to pick up chicken with the same gloves. This was unsanitary. 11/18/2021 Visited this store 3300 Forestville Road, on November 18, 2021 at 4:41 p.m. on several occasions the chicken has been extremely dried-out.  On this occasion they didn't have any wings and no chicken tenders.  The lady angrily said they have no wings or chicken fingers "in the store", she was unnecessarily nasty, it is not the customers fault that you don't have chicken and the chicken you have is always dried-out.  More importantly, the lady was taking chicken out of other people's boxes and putting it back in the hot chicken servers, this is against health guidelines, transferring chicken from the server pain into the boxes and then back into the server pan is unsanitary and against health regulations.  Some dignity and respect would be helpful for this community. read more

dont bother to go here if you happen to be white you will be the only one that is middle aged that has to go out to your car to get your id to pay cash for your cigs if you attempt to order food you will not receive any. i was able to see two full turn overs of say 50 each order and receive their food. it takes about 45 for the two turn overs. guess i should have just cookef dinner would not have taken any longer and i would have had something to eat. i got here at 7:03 p.m. it is now 8:26 p.m. all this time just to leave with one pack of cigs and a 13 pack of soda. never ever will i be back. read more

The chicken is great! Been waiting for this place to open. The lines were a little long but I attribute that to just opening. Really like the chicken. They also have sandwiches and various sides to order. Gas and the typical stuff for a convenient store.
