The dog was filthy and there was an employee there to introduce me to the puppy in a 10x10 ft. concrete room. I was supposed to meet several puppies and the parents. He would not get the other dogs. I was also not allowed to see where the dogs are raised nor meet the parents because of my "germs." There were no windows to see in. I did purchase the dog, which obviously was a mistake. In my defense, after having so many nice conversations with Holly leading up to the purchase, I trusted her and I thought that her employee had been neglecting the dogs. He couldn't answer questions about the contract and I thought he was incompetent, but I still trusted that Holly was genuine and that she would be able to explain what was going on when we could get in touch.When I got home, I left a Holly a message about the conditions at the place and of the dog. I was expecting her to be very concerned and surprised. She was not. She immediately began yelling at me that this was impossible and that "all her dogs are immaculate, all the time." I calmly asked how could she know if she was not there at the same time I was. She just reasserted that the dog was immaculate and that I was wrong and that her employee was perfect and he would never bring me a dog in that condition. I didn't press the point because 1) I didn't like being yelled at and attacked and 2) I wanted to preserve some kind of speaking relationship in case more problems came up.They did, of course.Four days later when we brought the dog to the vet, we found out she had two raging ear infections that according to my UPENN trained vet, looked like they had been there for a long time. When I presented the "vaccine record" I had received, the vet was concerned that it didn't look official.After this visit to the vet, I emailed Holly (to avoid her screaming at me).Here is the email to Holly:"Hi Holly. I took Sophia to the vet today. The vet was suspicious about the vaccines. She thought it was unusual for the breeder to do them and she said that since you didn't put the stickers from the syringe of medicine onto the records, she is going to repeat all the vaccines. Sophia's ears are infected and we got medicine for them. What kind of proof do you want from our visit today to keep the 5 year health guarantee? I can fax you my invoice, or mail a copy. I got the state to inspect her facility, two months after my purchase. Here is the reply: On Feb 23, 2012, at 10:00 AM, xxx wrote: "I responded there a little over a week ago and was accompanied by the State Animal Health Inspector. Much to my surprise, I found absolutely nothing wrong. Our visit was unannounced and early in the morning, therefore she had no time to prepare for our arrival. We observed approximately 50 dogs in stainless steel enclosures which more than suitable in size for the number of dogs in each one. The dogs were clean and all appeared healthy. The facility was clean and sanitary. According to the State, she was no in violation of any licensing/breeding regulations. She told me that the dog had never been seen by a vet and was unable to provide me with a number. So I am suspicious of the three names and number she provided to the inspector. If the dogs see vets regularly, why wouldn't she just give my vet the number? That doesn't make sense to me. My other concern is that on her website, she states: "We pride ourselves on our happy, hearty, healthy Havanese puppies raised in our HOME..." "There are NO kennels. All Moms and Dads are always here in my home also." I also find it interesting at the time I was researching my purchase, she had "absolutely no kennels!" posted in little blurbs all over her website and now, it is only written once instead of advertised as a main selling point. I didn't get to see inside the building, of course, but "We observed approximately 50 dogs in stainless steel enclosures which more than suitable in size for the number of dogs in each one" doesn't sound like "no kennels, dogs raised in my home" to me. So please, make your own choice, but beware. Make sure you get the number of the vet before purchase. Make sure you confirm with the vet that they saw your dog. Make sure your vaccination papers are valid. Ask why you can't see the pedigree papers of the parents. Insist to see where the dogs are raised. Insist on meeting the parents. Clearly with 50 dogs all together, this person is in a huge money making business and not particularly interested in loving the dogs. Also, I contacted the AKC. "The AKC does not license or register any breeders or kennels. There are no AKC registered breeders. If you send me the breeder's name, I can check to see if she registers dogs and litters with us and if she is in good standing with our rules and regulations. My husband and I rescued a 7 month old Havanese puppy four years ago. We loved him but over time, he developed severe aggression and biting. We no longer have him and have been very lonely for another Havanese. I had to update this review as the puppy that we received started having immediate health problems. They suggest taking your new pup to the vet within a week, which we did. But since the dog had a cough, my vet wouldn't even let us wait in the waiting room. We had to wait outside until it was our turn. The puppy had kennel cough and even infected our cat with it. I spent hundreds of dollars at the vet trying to get the little guy better. The first medication didn't work, had to switch up the meds. It was one thing after another and this was in the first few weeks. Kennel cough, parasites in his stool...it was a disaster. Moral of the story - never purchase a pet while you're crying your eyes out after taking your child to college. You can't replace that hole in your heart. My spouse brought the dog back to them after 7 weeks. They refused to refund ANY of my $2400 (yes, $2400 for a sick dog) but they gladly took the dog back (to sell again, I'm sure). Although we had a lovely experience picking up the dog and having our questions answered in the beginning, the dog was not healthy so the experience was very traumatic. We just picked up our puppy Lola today. Amanda greeted us at the door & put her into my arms. Love at first sight! She is wonderfull, happy & healthy. Amanda made the process so easy! She is so knowledgable about the breed & knew Lola's personality & temperment would be perfect for us. We even got to meet Lola's mother. I would highly recommend Royal Flush if you are interested in getting a Havanese puppy. Before you put down a deposit on an overly priced, though adorable Havenese puppy, ask the owner to show you pictures of her "moms and dads" playing together. Or playing ANYWHERE. Ask if you can see where she raises them "in her home like kings and queens." Ask to see where their outdoor play area is. Ask what happens when the dogs can no longer breed for her. Ask how she can house over 20 adult dogs (per her website). Ask how she cannot call herself a glorified puppy mill. YOU will be asked to pay over $2000, YOU will be asked to put down a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit, YOU will be asked to pick a puppy from a picture on a web site because she does not allow "visiting". Horrible, they are a puppy mill!!!!! I have one of their dogs and I love her to death but she has so many health issues. Allergies, Intestinal Bowel Disease, Eye issues, arthritis in her leg from a shattered elbow at a year old. She has an Internist, Dermatologist, Ophthalmologist, and a veterinarian nutritionist. Most people would have put her down but I won't and I am in for $50,000. Do NOT buy from them we need to put them out of business.
