She did have some abnormal kidney values, which led to a diagnosis of renal dysplasia after an ultrasound. She's been doing well on an early renal diet. ok...not sure about all these reviews by people who dont understand dogs. My family used to own one of the largest retail pet supply companies in North America. I know dogs. Training and socializing a dog (no matter what the breed or breeder) is an involved commitment. You dont bring a baby home and expect it to recite the Gettysburg Address...likewise with a puppy...it is a commitment. That being said, we adopted our little girl from Royal Flush in April of 2017. She was 8 weeks old, and immeadiately we fell in love. We diligently used a leash to potty train her, then enrolled her in puppy socialization classes and training. She was so good at both that she eventually became a helper dog for younger pups who were skittish and needed help socializing. She was so smart and trained to tricks so easily that we enrolled her in an agility class taught by an internationally recognized agility trainer who was impressed at how quickly our little girl learned agility. The trainer thought we had been practicing every week...but it was that our little girl was super smart. She is not only very trainable, but she is the most reasonable dog I have ever met. She "reads the room" very well, knows instinctively what to do and where to be. (not underfoot). She is a good alarm/guard dog but once the (intruder) enters the home invited by us, she is just so happy to be their friend. She watches tv....lol...she memorizes all the commercials with dogs in them and comes running whenever she hears those commercials come on. She loves any tv program with animals in it. We can take her just about anywhere. She loves other people and dogs...(although she isnt fond of boy dogs who are interested in her back end)...for those fellas she doesn't confront...she just walks away. Being a small dog and aware of her petite nature, she is always aware of what is above her. She is always watching airplanes or birds above not in a skittish way but in a preemptive way...aware that things can fall on her...she is smart ....like I said. She is a total clown. At 8 years old, she is still as funny energetic and playful as she was at 1 yr old. When we play with her, we cannot help but laugh at her clever and funny antics. This is a magnificent dog. But she is also a dog that we have taken the time to care for and train. I would recommend Royal Flush again and again. read more

I got my pup from Royal Flush Havanese a few months ago and unfortunately I've been extremely disappointed since. At our first vet visit, we were told by our vet that our puppy has an umbilical hernia that the breeder failed to make us aware of. I immediately reached out to RFH with this information since it was clear that this would cost us some extra money to take care of in the future, but of course this isn't covered by the "health guarantee" - which is a total scam, by the way. And just wait because this isn't even the worst of it.... A couple months after this our puppy was diagnosed with cherry eye. While this isn't a life threatening issue, the only permanent solution is a surgical procedure or else your dog will have lifelong issues with dry eye and recurrent infections in the eye. I reached out to RFH again about this issue and low and behold this issue is specifically mentioned in the contract as NOT covered under the health guarantee. How convenient! I'm sure they know very well that cherry eye runs in their bloodline and it would be very expensive for them to cover this issue since it is so common in their puppies. It's been just shy of 6 months since I had my RFH puppy and of course I've already fallen in love with her, but unfortunately I've already spent over $3,500 on these unexpected health costs after spending about the same much for the pup in the first place. All of this is to say, don't let this place trick you into thinking the high upfront price tag for your dog will be worth it in the end in terms of lower health risks, health guarantee, etc. As much as we love our puppy we would never get another pup from RFH nor would we recommend to ANYONE and we will definitely do our research next time about more ethical, less shady breeders. read more

We had a great experience with RF while there and the whole process and love our little guy dennis. What happened after was what was really disappointing. He came home with giardia and a couple months later was constantly puking and having other digestive issues. We then found out he was in stage 4 kidney failure before the age of 2, and would only have a couple months left with him. RF refused to reimburse any money for him. They clearly lack empathy or responsibility for any of this. read more

This was an absolutely outrageous experience. I have no idea how this place is still in business--it's a blatant scam. They lure you in with misleading pricing, only to jack up the cost by 70% right when you're ready to take the dog home. It's manipulative, unethical, and flat-out dishonest. There are plenty of breeders in the area who are transparent, trustworthy, and actually care about both their dogs and their customers. Royal Flush is not one of them. If you're looking for a Havanese, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. We recently went to pick up a puppy and brought it home. We were told he was a healthy boy and we fell in love with him. We took him to the required wellness visit with a vet within the seven day required period. We had noticed some concerning items regarding his eyes and asked if they could check that out while we were there. The vet we saw could not determine what was going on but was concerned and had a second opinion from another vet. Both agreed we should see an ophthalmologist as it seemed something more serious could be going on. He also had an umbilical hernia that they could take care when we had him neutered. We reached out to Royal Flush with the findings from our vet appointment letting them know unfortunately he was not in perfect health. We reached out to an ophthalmologist and another vet regarding all the information before deciding that we would have to bring the puppy back as he wasn't in perfect health as we were lead to believe and the costs to help him would have been costly, as we were still paying off medical bills for our older dog who recently passed away (which we had notified royal flush about in emails). We were given a hard time by the lady on the phone (stating its a legal document, which we stated we were aware of and within the contracted days - also we have a legal background). She said she would send the information to the owner Holly. Holly reached out to us later the next day and tried to say the vet was wrong and the prices the vet gave were not correct. She became very defensive and even began telling us that they had notified us of the hernia and that they had it on video. Three of us visited when we took home the puppy, and not one of us was showed or told about it. We asked for copies of the video and they were going to get them. All of a sudden they "realized" they made a mistake and hadn't notified us of anything. They continued to deny any issues with the dogs health, specifically his eyes which was very noticeable, even to the vet. I would highly discourage anyone from going here, the dog was a sweet heart and a good boy, but the woman who owns it and the people who work there are misleading, defensive and honestly a little sketchy. read more

I went by appointment to specifically meet an male pup named Frodo that was advertised as an "adult" dog at least 6mo old and trained. The dog was so tiny, and very hyper, not just playful, but almost frenzied for the entire hour we were there. I asked about his small size and was told by a "caregiver" that he had a rash on his face when he was a few months old and lost the hair on one side of his face and had been treated and currently healthy, but never grew after that! I asked for the medical info from the Vet, but was told they didn't have that, just vaccine record. The dog also had an umbilical hernia. I asked to see other dogs on site but was told no one was allowed in the facility to "prevent germs" , and that no dogs were allowed outside for same reason, including the adult dogs supposedly on the premises, but in another building "way back in the woods". She insisted they were not caged, but I got a very bad feeling that this was a puppy mill disguised as a "loving home environment". Sadly decided to walk away. read more

This is not a puppy mill, they don't keep their dogs in inhumane conditions, they don't sell you sick animals. We purchased our havanese almost 6 years ago from Royal Flush Havanese. She has been a great dog all these years. She has never had a health issue. She is very smart and well behaved. She is loving and loves to cuddle. We are considering getting a friend for our havanese from them. We had a great experience with these breeders. They showed us the parents and were available for all of our questions during the puppy times when we had questions. Later date. We got another havanese pup from them and he is the best! I called to inquire about the adoption process. I was told that you could select two puppies for a 30 minute meet-and-greet and if you paid in full you could take pups home that day. When I asked about meeting the parents, I was told the male dogs were all at the Florida facility, and the moms were in the nursery with the puppies and they would not allow visitors into the nursery for fear of stressing out the moms and pups. ...Except that doesn't make any sense because any puppy that's been weaned and ready for adopting doesn't have a mom who is still nursing pups in the nursery. Putting that logic puzzle aside for a moment, I asked if we could video chat / FaceTime so I could see the inside of the nursery and was told they typically don't do that but if I wanted to I should call back the following day and speak to the manager, Chantelle. I inquired whether the employee thought it was typical of "reputable breeder" best practices to not allow prospective adopters to see where and how moms and pups were kept. My Havanese is now a year and 8 months old and I have to say I am extremely grateful to Royal Flush Havanese. When I was growing up, we had 2 dogs with various behavior issues and I wanted my 2 kids not to have to deal with any of that with their dog. I did my research and settled on RFH as my breeder. These Yelp reviews did give me pause and that's why I'm leaving this review. RFH was great through the process of picking up our pup. Their website was helpful in guiding me for what I needed. Any emails sent were responded to in a reasonable amount of time with good information. I love this dog. My kids regularly report to my wife that I'm cheating on her with the dog. My dog from RFH is a total sweetheart. She does bark a bit and we've done some training which she picks up quickly. But she came to us already knowing "sit" and wouldn't struggle when picked up. She is great with my kids. Actually, I was wondering how she was so tolerant of their antics (now ages 6 and 11). Lately she has been growling at them when they hug her too tight but its totally appropriate. I'm working on training my kids how to be appropriate with the dog. What has impressed me most about my dog has been the feedback that I have recieved from others. On play dates, I get comments about how excellent her dog to dog socialization and behavior is. Everyone at the Veterinarians office loves her. When I come in, they carry her around to say hello to everyone. Ok, its a business, they have to act like that to keep me as a customer, right? But no, I watch how other dogs are treated at appointments. And they're not treated badly, its that my dog causes an extra bit of excitement when she is in. I can hear voices, from the hallway when we're waiting in an examining room. The Veterinarian saying "Marshmallow is here?! Oh wow, I can't wait to see her". The groomers love her. When strangers meet her they say she's so soft, so gentle, so sweet! All of this gives me great pride that I made the right choice. read more

Buyer Beware , bought a pup , it had behavioral issues . Brought it to the vet to be checked they suggested purchasing a muzzle and some sedatives . After numerous conversations with Amanda and Chantel we brought the puppy back the vet wrote a letter to the breeder and we returned the pup within the 5 day warranty period and still no refund of $2800.00 . When they are done with you they block your calls . I just hope all of your local, state , federal permitting licensing transporting through interstate commerce is up to date . We picked up our $3300 (on sale) pup and we were thrilled. I took a month off from work to work the little guy. The very first night he was home he seemed to be having a nervous breakdown in his crate from the minute I put him in. I had him right next to me like they told me. We stayed up all night talking to him and soothing him nothing would work. Amanda told me to give him a bully stick and he would be OK. We took him to the vet within the time frame they give you (which is not doable in many offices) and he had two parasites. I did not call the breeder and tell them as I understood these things can happen, and we had accepted this puppy as a member of our family. As time went on it was obvious this dog had not been socialized and was confined to the extent he was afraid to be Anywhere near a crate. He was so upset in ANY type of confinement, he became a puppy that had to be with someone 24/7. I couldn't shower without him in the bathroom, had to order my groceries online, couldn't go to appointments unless my husband was home etc. We worked with three trainers one of whom royal flush recommended and we were told by all he had SEVERE separation anxiety and we had exhausted all options. We loved this little guy so much. He was funny, smart, lovable and we potty trained him rather quickly. Besides the normal puppy accidents, he picked up on it in a few weeks. We took him out every hour Without fail. After 9 weeks of not being able to leave the house or go back to work we knew we had to call the breeder and return him - we signed papers saying we would return instead of giving him away when we first got him . They asked me if I knew anyone who wanted him; apparently we could give him away but not sell him. I said with his problems I could never ask someone to take him. We drove him 2.5 hours back to a woman we had never met. Neither Amanda nor Holly were anywhere to be found. We handed him over and signed his ownership away and my husband and I cried the entire way home. It was DEVASTATING! I was promised they'd keep me informed on his progress becasie they were going to work with him and where he ended up. They never once emailed me first. I emailed 3x in a month. I got 2 sentences the first one and a very brief "he's doing fine" the second. The 3rd email they never responded to and that was that. I was so depressed I couldn't shake it. My husband and daughter felt the same. I was a little suspect we weren't allowed to see the other puppies or parents. If they are so afraid of germs then perhaps they should install cameras or at least a window with one way glass. We are out thousands of dollars and aren't sure if we will ever get over this. After reading all the other bad reviews, I was so upset I had to write mine. Please do your homework to avoid a broken heart. read more

As an animal and Havi lover who has two recently adopted RFH as part of their family it is so upsetting to see how ignorant people are and so willing to abandon a puppy due to issues based on their own mistakes. before you read my review of RFH or even consider buying a pup - keep this in mind. Puppies take WORK. They are BABIES who in their first year of life need a lot of attention. Not just creating them when you go to work and expecting them to be magically socialized or house trained when you get home. Bringing them to the best private trainers while still leaving them home alone 4+ hours a day (assuming you have a walker) won't socialize and train them. Unless you can be home their first few weeks during the immunization/shot stage and can't afford a doggy day camp at least 2-3 times a week after that don't get one or ,at least, don't expect a picture perfect pup who is perfectly, trained, behaved and social in just a few months (or even a year). My mom keeps her dogs on a schedule and even work herself up at 2 am their first two weeks until their tiny bladders could hold it over night. Two month in now and my dad gets up with them at 5 am and my mom stays up with them until 10 so they are on a regimented bathroom, exercise and feeding/water schedule. My mom is retired but still pays for and takes them to doggy day camp three days a week. You might think it's overkill but any decent trainer (not some petsmart hack) will say routine is key. Also HAVIS DO NOT RESPOND WELL to SCOLDING. If your dog misbehaves, ignore them or turn your backs to them until they settle down or give you the response you want. If your HAVIS NERVOUS or SCARED only after you take them home- it's not misbreeding or treatment by the breeder, it's likely you aren't tayloring your training to their personalities. Also socialization only during the first few weeks under breeder care won't cut it. It might take one week at doggy day camp or months, but if your patient they will get there. Dogs are not accessories. They are living feeling beings each one as unique as humans are. If you aren't willing to pay $2,500 for a puppy with a 6 year health guarantee and follow BREEDER instructions, then go adopt a dog that's already trained but have been abandoned. Although some are from horrible situations, you'll actually find most are from irresponsible people who think they are ready for a puppy and aren't. People who think it's okay to leave behind a member of their family because they "aren't what they hoped for" from them. Review: My parents recently obtained not one but two adorable pups from RFH. Each from different litters and 4 weeks apart in age. After reading these reviews, is disheartening to see people who are choosing to place blame on breeder for their own ignorance and incompetence for caring for an animal. My parents are anything if not thorough when following the breeders directions after bringing them home in August. Both are healthy and happy rambunctious puppies. Although they are the same breed their coats are different colors and textures. Most importantly they have different personalities. One is and adorable white & tan goofy and care free fluff ball while the other is a smooth coated grey and white cuddle bug who is stubborn old soul. One loves sprawling on the hardwood floor, the other sitting on the lap of a human. One was practically house trained by week 4 while the other one took some time. One loves making new puppy friends at day care while the other took a few weeks before he approached another dog to play. They also show all the dogs currently being used to breed on their site and there are far more than 4 males being used to breed. I was able to trace each of our dogs lineage to their grandparents on each side and there is absolutely no sign of imbreading. (Also a great way to find out potential future temperament as one takes after his mom and the other his dad!) Moral of the story: just like humans, each dog (even if the same bread) is different. Is some of the behavior learned? Absolutely. But if our dogs are proof of anything it's that a lot of it is their own naturally bred and unique personalities. Just because you watched a Dogs 101 video doesn't mean your an expert on a breed. PS - to the women who decided to try and fill the void of moving her child to college with a puppy, shame on you. It's because of people like you there are so many loveable dogs out there feeling abandoned and alone. If you also read your instructions, your not supposed to bring your dog outside or around outdoor animals until they are fully vaccinated so they don't get worms or kennel cough. i love my little girl, ci-ela. she is adorable, loving, freindly, smart and funny. my complaint is about holly. in oct 2023, i saw that my 5 month havanese had cherry eye in one eye. now in both eyes. when i was told by 2 prominent vets and an animal opthomologist that it was a genetic condition, and they never heard of getting cherry eye from getting it any other way. holly said that cherry eye was not under the contract i was told that it doesn't happen in havanese breeds and that my puppy must have been polked or scratched in the eye. how insulting and discusting of a comment. ( maybe the fact that holly knew it could be genetic in her pups is why she had that clause put into her contract. i believe she is not truthful! read more

I brought home my Havanese on 3/16. He was 6 months at the time. I have since had to hire a trainer because he is reactive and afraid of everything and everyone. There is not way to enroll him in any kind of puppy classes with the anxiety he has. If the trainer is not able to help him I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I honestly do not believe this puppy was socialized appropriately during those first crucial 12 weeks. I was told repeatedly that these dogs don't even go outside because they could track something in to the puppies who are not fully immunized. This place has a yard that these puppies could be playing in. having them just with the other litters and parents is not socialization. I have also noticed mine is more reactive to men which leads me to believe they are really only exposed to the women who work there and not men or children. This is not the experience I had hoped for or expected. I will continue to work with my puppy but will NOT recommend this breeder to anyone. read more

These people are super sketchy. I should have known from the way they respond to negative reviews on here that something was shady. Somehow every negative reviewer that reviews RFH is being dishonest. Big red flag. We took a pup home from them and took him to the vet. He tested positive for giardia and also showed symptoms of giardia. I contacted them to let them know he had giardia, and let them know that under Rhode Island law they are required to reimburse vet bills for any illness found within twenty days of purchase. They took every possible step to try to avoid fulfilling this legal obligation, including by suggesting that giardia is "not an illness," by trying to argue that I'd waived my right to get reimbursed when I signed their contract (the law specifically says that the reimbursement requirement is unwaiveable, so their contract is meaningless here), by trying to argue that he did not have giardia at all (because his lab results showed he was positive for giardia on a blood test but not a parasite test, which is a test for giardia that has a TON of false negatives), and by telling me they needed a "letter of diagnosis" even though I'd already sent them lab results. My vet confirmed that a "letter of diagnosis" is a thing that Royal Flush made up to create a bureaucratic hurdle. I am done playing this game with them and it is not worth it to me to take these weirdos to small claims court, but everyone should know: IF YOU PURCHASED A DOG FROM THEM AND YOUR DOG IS DIAGNOSED WITH ANY ILLNESS INCLUDING A MINOR ILLNESS LIKE GIARDIA WITHIN TWENTY DAYS OF PURCHASE, YOU ARE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR VET BILLS, UP TO THE FULL COST OF THE PUP. RFH will try to tell you that it's not covered in their contract, but the law trumps the contract. Royal Flush is basically a polished puppy mill run by an operator. They have way too many dogs for the conditions to be safe and sanitary. Stay away! read more

I have spent thousands of dollars on 3 different trainers, one trainer told me my dog was the toughest dog she has ever worked with in her 20 year career. Bella was never socialized. She is afraid of everything! She is now 2 years old and still hasn't been able to be house broken. Just writing this review is upsetting for me. Havanese sold here are not purebred. In fact the DNA results indicated only 62% Havanese, 12.5% Shih Tzu, 12.5% Maltese and 12.5% Herding breeds. Also, he had to be treated for two bouts of worms. The DNA results for my Havanese purchased from a reputable breeder with proven lineage and bloodlines were 100% Havanese. read more

We've had our royal flush puppy (Ft Myers) for 4 months and my parents have 3 royal flush dogs (RI location) all who are super friendly, sweet, and amazing. My parents dogs are 7, 12 and 12 and all have been very healthy throughout their lives and still seem so young. Getting a pup from royal flush will be the best decision you ever make! You can tell that so much love and care is put towards these dogs- they are very well socialized and quickly adjust to going to their new home. The amount of resources and information available to you about raising a puppy and everything else you need to know is above and beyond! Our little Stewie is a fearless little fellow, obviously well socialized with dogs as well as people. He came with a record of shots and instructions for future vet visits, a few bags of puppy chow, a little blanket, leash and collar, and a toothbrush. He is microchipped. He has a reddish coat which we were told comes from his mother. The Havanese is a wonderful breed for older couples like us. BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. We were sold a defective puppy with a hernia that Royal Flush Havanese gave us incorrect information on cost of repair. We were told the hernia would either disappear or vets do not charge to repair hernias when done in conjunction with spaying. We have found out it will be $250.00! Owners, Amanda and Holly, refuse to acknowledge responsibility. We were NOT told when we made a deposit on our $3,000 puppy over the phone that she had a hernia. We started to suspect something was not right when we emailed for an update on the new pup we were going to adopt. We had given our $300 down payment and we were very excited to see pictures of our new pup. They did not respond to our email for another update so we started to search the internet for additional information. Then we found all the negative reviews and grew very concerned about giving Holly $300 for a pup from a puppy mill. Then we received a call and were told we were not contacted because our pup was not born yet. We had pictures they sent to us previously so we began to question what was going on. Do we have a pup or not? Then the excuses began. They were driving from RI to FL and had been on the road. Apparently it appears that they run pups from RI to FL for sale and we found out that they sell the pups out of a garage in Port Charlotte. Then it was that she mixed us up with someone else. Then we requested our deposit back because they did not seem to know whether we had a pup or not. Holly refused to refund our money. She was not happy that we had been reading all of her negative reviews about them being a puppy mill. We never received our refund and please do not do business with these people. They take your money and will not refund it when the customer is dissatisfied and questioning their ability to sell you a pup. Lesson learned do your research so you don't waste your money on unethical businesses. read more

We picked up our royal havanse puppy mid Sept. and our family is completely in love with our pup. She is beautiful, smart and an absolute joy. She is our 1st pet ever and is wonderful having as part of our family! Our experience with this breeder, unfortunately, has not been positive. Upon the arrival of our 1s visit, we were informed that the dog we came to see had a deposit put down on her 20 minutes before we arrived. A young, new staff member was there and the breeder was not on site. They did have other dogs they could show us but at a significantly higher price. I was very dissappointed yet thankful I didn't bring my children. After a few days, I decided to give the breeder another chance. After all, my heart was set on a Havanese! I met with Amanda and we chose a pup. Within a week of our dogs time at home, her visit to the vet showed she had a parasite. An infection called Giardia. It has been two months and our pup still has this infection which left untreated can eventually be quite harmful. We have great support from our vet and had numerous fecal samples tested and we are on our 5th round of antibiotices. Our pup is a trooper! Both the infection and meds can make her vomit and have diarrhea. While the breeder's contract states they are not responsible for parasites, we are stunned at their lack of support. This has cost us over $400 and still counting.... to get rid our puppy's infection we learned about 6 days into purchasing her. The breeder provided records of our puppy's immunizations yet did not provide a copy of a fecal sample showing a negative giardia. She was four months old and we only had her 6 days before the 1st fecal test came back postive. We will never know for sure where she contacted this infection but we can all do the math. We would never recommend or trust this breeder. We asked for their support with medical bills and treatment. They declined stating we should stop looking to blame them. Amanda was very defensive. We love our puppy! We will get her healthy. We will also never trust or respect the atmosphere she came from. Poor business values. read more

Royal Flush Havanese claims their puppies are well socialized - they are not. We got our puppy when he was 23 weeks old, and he is fearful and anxious, and all the professionals -- trainers and his vet -- all say this is because he is poorly socialized. I know they don't let puppies go outside, so maybe it's because they don't get exposed to different environments. Our puppy is more like a rescue than a dog from a professional, high-quality breeder. read more

Purchasing a puppy is always scary and expensive. It is a big commitment. You want your breeder to be as committed as you are. That is Royal Flush Havanese. We "reserved" Ricky before he was born, and we knew about his litter and has picture of him until we could get him at 8 weeks. We loved him so much we had to get one of his brothers too. They were very professional yet caring at Royal Flush. Their dogs are all great parents. I love my puppies and RFH for guiding the process. And I still was in touch even this morning for advice. Royal Flush Havanese is fabulous! I highly recommend this breeder. My puppy is now 10 months old. We got her in September 2017 at eight weeks. The facility is very clean. When we picked her up it was obvious she had just been groomed and was very well taken care of. She was paper trained when she came home. She is a beautiful dog. Her coat is like silk and her personality is so cute and funny. I will definitely purchase another Havanese from this breeder. read more

Holly and Amanda are great, personable people. You can tell the other workers as well as Holly and Amanda truely love all their dogs. They have taught me a lot about the havanese breed as well as caring for a dog. Their dogs are so loving and playful. I would recommend this breed and this company to everyone I know. I have a 6-month male Havanese puppy named Potter whom I purchased from Royal Flush Havanese. I called inquiring about a puppy one day and told the owner Holly that I was looking for a male. She said just as we were speaking one of her females was birthing a liter and she would call me back as soon as the liter was born. She called me back the next day and there was 1 male born to that liter and she immediately sent me a picture of him. She told me his markings were beautiful but that I couldn't see him for 8 weeks. I kept in communication with her by e-mail and she sent me a picture of him each week when I asked for one as he kept growing. When the 8 weeks was up I went to see him at Royal Flush and I found her staff to be very friendly and informative and the place was clean and well kept. I immediately fell in love with Potter and saw that he as a very happy and sociable puppy. I met Holly and she spoke with us for quite a while filling us in on the breed and when we asked she bought out both Potter's mother and father so we could see them. She did this with no hesitation and we were so glad we got to meet his parents. Holly answered all of our questions and gave us a very full goody bag of toys, a leash, a small food supply to start and a sample of the vitamins she was giving the dogs. Any other questions I had once I got Potter home, she was very willing to answer for me. I would highly recommend Royal Flush for a healthy, lovable dog with an owner who is very loving and caring and a breed that will give you many years of love and happiness. The facility seems to be very well kept and the puppies all seem to be healthy and well-cared for. After learning that there are 24 - yes 24 - breeding dogs at this facility (20 females and 4 males accoding to the owner and the town clerk), I ran to an AKC registered breeder. I was not interested in supporting a very large, very clean and well polished puppy mill. They were attentive to all my questions and anwsered all my emails. Very professional. I am a new dog owner, and learned a lot over the last year with my havanese. If you are going to spend the money and take the time to go with a breeder vs a rescue, make sure you get an excellent breeder. This means one who is professional, communicative, fair, and that produces healthy, well-adjusted and well-tempered pets. Each of these things is critical, if any are not good, it makes for a poor choice of breeder. My experience with Holly is that she met MOST of the criteria, but that my animal, and others I know have been purchased from her, have an aggressive streak that is hard to train out, and can be scary for small kids (and, in a larger breed, could be downright dangerous). My real problem with Holly is that there was never any follow-up. None. If she is not checking up on her animals, she does not know the temperament of her animals. In my case, we started to see signs of severe aggression (snarling, biting, complete tantrums) at about 4 months of age, despite seeing a dog behaviorist (trainer) regularly. We read 3 books before we got the dog, spent unbelievable amounts of time working with him (and still do), only to have our trainer say "your dog just has a mean streak, this sort of thing should have been bred out." Our trainer was saddened to hear our breeder was not tracking her animals. On a positive note, he is beautiful and healthy. However, I would gladly trade for an ugly dog with a beautiful personality.
