I use to live here and was discharged over a month ago. This facility is horrible. Most of the CNA's were very polite to my roommates but for no reason would give me a bad attitude. The food is so disgusting that I had suffered a stomachache. They offered very little physical therapy and had the nerve to say it was my fault I couldn't walk! There is a person by the name of Dr K that would often talk to me. Whenever I would tell her about the problems I was experiencing she would end up just making excuses for this lousy place! The staff wouldn't even help me find another facility near my home. Once again. Royal Palms is awful and should be shut down as soon as possible! read more

We have a love one who has been dropped while transferring her from room to room. The first time it happened she ended up in the ER. We just went to visit her and she was laying on the floor unconscious while the staff just stood around. We tried to complaint to the staff but their only response was "We are too busy". Everything I was there for 4 1/2 years and I couldn't wait to get out I was robbed I was unconscious I was taken to the hospital when I came back I had about $1200 in my wallet that was stolen I also had a echo 58 echo eight from Amazon that was taken everything I had was going through that was just what I wanted occasion on another occasion I was they put a person in a room with me when I had Covid and he has some kind of bugs on and I was I got his bugs all over me I couldn't stop itching they finally after after a week and a half they called the dermatologist and he did a test with the cup in the other thing but anyway he did a test and have to give me all kinds of medicine cream and injections they refuse medical attention when the shower chair broke and taking a shower in the shower the shower chair broke and they refused me back attention I don't recommend it to anyone read more

DO NOT leave your loved ones here!!! MAKE SURE insurance company DO NOT SEND them here. My mother was her for a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) back in July she was hospitalized the whole month of July 2022 . Not even four hours under their care and my mother fell because they were not there to help her use the restroom. They told us that she kneeled on the floor, but my mother was unable to support her own body weight. She fell again for second time hit the back of her ribs and this time we were told that she sat on the floor. She was calling for help to use the restroom but they kept telling her that they will be with in 5 minutes. Those minutes turned into an hour and half. At this time my family and I were outraged at this point it has been five days and my mother has not been seen by a doctor or have be evaluated for her baseline, she did not receive P.T. or O.T. in her road to recovery. On her 11th day here she fell for the third time were she had to use the restroom (no one answered her call button) my mother had at to called me at 3 am to help her because she was on the floor and her door was closed. This time she hit the back of her head and lead to other serious issues with her hips, ribs and head. she was taken to Keck Medicine Center for a stroke caused by her third fall there. Staff member and the administration team cover for each other and do not properly document event. They say they are busy, but have seen them on her phones and socializing with each other. So, if you do have a loved one there please make sure that you are documenting everything that take place. Everything that happened to my mother was documented as if she placed herself and on ground. We were only allowed to see my mother for 15 minutes a day with an appointment and that was unacceptable for us. We asked for some form of accommodations and they placed us outside in the heat to visit my mother. They placed other barriers to make it more difficult for us to see my mother. From one day to another they started making us ONLY wear N95 mask. We saw serval individual with no mask during our time there. Make sure you get there 20 to 30 minutes early for their check in process because that goes into your visiting time. My mother also had additional bruises that were clearly someone's fingers from hold her too hard. They did not assist her with brushing her teeth, and she took a shower only twice a week. when she finally received O.T. and P.T. it was only for 5-10 minutes, twice a week. I personally believe that everything that happen to my mother here was GROSS NEGLIGENCE. The Atmosphere was very depressing and patients there fiend to socialize with the outside world. Other times it was too loud and I don't understand how patients are getting the rest that is very much needed to recovery properly. There are too many patient at this facility and low staff. There are about 50+ rooms with three patients in each room. ZERO STARS!!!! read more

This is place is awful! They caused my grandmother to be in worse condition than when she was admitted. She has been with this facility for 5 months and they have lack of communication. The staff doesn't care about any of the patients. My grandmother is currently in a hospital due to their lack of care and documentation of her condition. She is now in ICU with kidney failure due to their negligence. The failed to even try to call 911 when she was not breathing. I had to cuss at the staff to get them to actually do anything! We the family had to get the ambulance when they did not even try to call and instead stared at us. It was only when the ambulance showed they acted like they cared! My mother is being cared for at Royal Palms. I give them 5* because they will cater to your every need to the extent possible. From day 1, Nancy, their social worker made sure my mom receives all the attention she needs from physical therapy to her diet requirements. Nancy, the social worker, facetimes our mother with us using her own cel phone and has been available after hours to answer my questions. Their chef gives our mom additional vegetables, avocado and banana (at our request), and even puts cinnamon on her pancakes the way she eats them at home. Callista, the Director of Nursing, responds to my every email requests immediately and makes sure my mom receives the care she needs Physical therapy helps her walk with her dementia (she is 90). Everytime I visit, there are at least 20 nurses and caretakers running around and helping patients. I do not agree with any negative review here. Dr. Tan, their psychiatrist has made sure my mom is not over medicated. She is cognizant for my mom to receive the proper drugs so she can be physically active read more

I spend 2 weeks at the Royal palms after having a hip replacement surgery I cannot be more pleased with the staff starting with the nurse named Alex who welcomed me straight from the hospital and then continuing every morning wonderful team a nurse named Alma and her helpers Adam and Myra took care of me like family. It was very touching to see the kind of love they gave not only to me but everyone. I would also like to thank all the others that came in everyday to make my life and the lifes of other patients easier. Big thank you to Annastasia CNA, Edwin CNA, Jenifer LVN, Ren and Elaine my night helpers, Willis from the kitchen, Sunshine and her great team of physical therapists who cheered with every step I took and last but not least wonderful social worker Irene who personally on my discharge day took me to see my doctor in an Uber. I am going to have to agree with Rose K (review from 11/17/2018) How TF this place open?? My Ex Husband is there and currently on Hospice. First off the place SMELLS horribly..Patients with Dementia and other mental disorders are allowed to walk freely throughout the place without any supervision. There was constant moaning and screaming as background noise which was unnerving. This is exactly the kind of place that my EX begged not to be placed in but unfortunately he had to be in order to receive Hospice. I realize his time is limited and does know exactly as to what is going on around him which is a really good thing. My experience here at Royal Palms was very good. To be truthful my first night was very unpleasant but I say that because I was in pain. They are happy, family is happy with care provided, staff is really caring, accommodating, sincere, especially during pandemic, we would get frequent updates since there was no visitation allowed for their safety. If you have ever seen 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', that comes to mind. It is not conducive for anyone trying to recover from illness. The noise levels are horrendous, and residents with dementia, and or Alzheimer's are allowed to roam free without supervision. The banshee screamers seem to run the place. Antiquated calling system is constant. One bell rings incessantly 24 hours a day. It is reminiscent of a Tyrolean cow bell; it never stops. If you want to develop anxiety, or physical illness, such as stress related diverticulitis; as I did, then please, send your loved ones there. read more

A close relative of ours is in there and we noticed recently there is not enough CNAs' to attend the patients and the new management does mot care to hire more CNAs' or RNs'. They get paid really well from insurance companies and it is not fair to treat the patients poorly. The facility is not handicap friendly which causes a lot of problems for patients. How TF is this place open??? I would give negative 100 stars if I could. My mother was there for 2 weeks ONLY because she was in the hospital for a month and a half and she needed physical therapy. This place did NOTHING!!!!!!!!! Physical therapy for 5-10 minutes, twice a week. Wtf is that gonna do?! NOTHING!!!! They never rotated her in bed so now she had a huge bed sore on her back side. Stinky ass place, the staff is so rude and literally dumb (not all, but most). I would shut this place down if I could. IF YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!! I also do not agree with Don A's comment. Royal palms is greatly in need of better management, and sometimes when people get used to the comfortable, change is met with a lot of resistance. I have not worked with the DON nor the ADON for long but I respect their professional judgment and their competence. To have things moving, sugar coating and grandstanding doesn't work. I'd much rather hear people speak straight to the point and put words into action more. The adage "it's all in a day's work" should be followed instead of being too emotional when your sensibilities are threatened or worse, your pride. It might mean you're obe who hasnt done a good job. Helping nurses that respond to call lights in a timely manner and were very productive when giving me care. All staff were very friendly and greeting me when their shifts started. Department heads especially the DON were very attentive to my needs. I wish I had read the reviews before agreeing to my father placement in this horrible place. My father suffered from dementia but was still physically healthy. He ate alone, walked little but still walked, talked and even made jokes. When he was transferred from the hospital to this horrible facility for therapy after a slight fall at home, the "professionals" did nothing good for him. They never encouraged him to walk, they kept him in bed for almost a month, without moving him, they say that he no longer wanted to eat alone, so they fed him,he lost weight quickly, in a few days he was no longer talking. the staff promised that we could talk to him on facetime any day. But when we called the center, first they did not answer, they left us waiting many times to tell us later that they could not do it because they did not have the iPad. They were never ready to inform us about his condition, they would say that they had to ask the other nurse. When we got to see him, he would be asleep like zombie all the time, barely talk, unresponsive. They had no plan for him, he wasn't receiving any kind of therapy because they said that he didn't want to get up from bed. My father was there waiting to die under their neglected care. We told them we wanted to take him home with us, and they try to persuade us that it was going to be to much work for us at home. When they saw we were determined to take him home, they offered us a hospital bed within 3 days, we were waiting for the bed until One day they called us to inform us that he was going to be transported to the hospital for abnormal test results. HE WAS EXTREMELY DEHYDRATED!! no wonder he was unresponsive all the time and he couldn't even talk. He was in such a bad shape when he got to the hospital, These people did nothing for my father, not even encourage him to drink water!! I kept calling them to see if they had the bed available because my father was waiting to go home and be with his family. He passed after being with us for only one day. All the time he was under their care, his health and abilities deteriorated so much and they had the audacity to tell us that he remained the same!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS HORRENDOUS PLACE!!!! THESE PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS, IT'S JUST A BUSINESS ALL THEY CARE IS ABOUT THE INSURANCE MONEY read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR ABUSE AND NEGLECT! My grandfather is in CRITICAL CONDITION in the hospital, on the verge of death, BECAUSE HE WAS UNDER THEIR "CARE". We had him in a home in Torrance but because we wanted him closer we moved him here. He was perfectly fine until he came to this place. We suddenly got a call that he was rushed to the hospital FOR DEHYDRATION. He had diarreha and the whole thing and not ONCE were we notified until it was too late! My aunt said she went to visit him and he had crusted food all over his mouth, and he just did not look taken care of at all. THIS PLACE CANT EVEN GIVE THE BASIC NECESSITIES LIKE WATER. WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! Do you need your heads analyzed?! On top of that they didnt want to give us the name of the nurse responsible, his/her license needs to be revoked. Shame on ALL of you there. When you grow old and need to be taken care of, I hope you see how important it is to have a BASIC level of care given to you. I am a family member of a resident in this facility, I wish I can afford to put my family member in a better place but insurance won't cover anywhere else. I would not recommend anybody else to leave there loved ones here. I don't think they understand that I speak Tagalog because they have very open conversations in front of me with each other. In these conversations I have heard them talking about parties they have and how one of the CNA is sleeping with the administrator, they go into details about who they are all sleeping with even though they are married and it's within the facility. I don't think that's professional and as someone who works in the healthcare field I know it is frowned upon and in some place illegal for the admin. To have relationships with employees. I mind my business because I don't want them to treat my family member worse than they already do. I've noticed that if you are a Filipino staff member you can get away with just about anything. For the rest of the staff seems to be treated poorly. I've been here long enough to know that when they say on the intercom "Line 5" it means the health department is on the floor and everyone acts like they're working. When it's the residents lunch time the nurses don't bother passing the trays out, and no one likes to help each other out. Please do not leave your family member here if you care for them. My grandmother is a resident here and she could not be happier!!! The staff is amazing, the facility in itself is clean and well organized. If she has an issue it is immediately resolved for her , any concern we might have gets taken care of. The overall environment is welcoming and you feel at home so I can only imagine how at home residents including my grandmother feel. Staff is kind , management is sweet and helpful always.
