It wouldn't read my husband's temp and it flagged me at 97.7°. The front desk staff just waved us through. Turned out I wasn't even signed in. I didn't get a visitors badge. And when i tried to sign out at the end of the day, it didn't recognize me. The PALS on the second floor were friendly but seemed a bit intrusive. In the few hours we were there, they peeked in the room multiple times, mostly without knocking. My in laws are a bit annoyed at this and I'm not sure if this is part of the care we pay for or what, but i think in the next few weeks we are going to need to make some adjustments so their privacy is better acknowledged. Little bit annoyed that my MiL was scheduled for hair and nail appt but nobody came to get her or even let her know when her appt was, so she ended up not being dolled up for Christmas dinner. We had Christmas dinner with the parentals and the special for the night was a Reuben sandwich. Not very festive. The staff said they offered a holiday brunch... but we were there for dinner. I ordered the Reuben which was good. Mushroom soup lacked flavor. Caesar salad was good. My husband had the filet, which he enjoyed.. but the baked potato was tiny and sad. For a luxury senior home, I think the restaurant needs to step up its game! BIG TIME! And we spoke with a resident of 4 years who mentioned they stored serving wine at lunch because they were having issues. So they only serve wine with dinner. I guess you can have your own wine in your room, but seems like these are all seniors who can make up their own mind about their alcohol consumption and if there's a problem with a specific resident, that can be addressed on a case by case basis. Punishing a whole community seems overkill. Anyway.. will update in a few weeks and see if we can get some changes made so that the parentals are happy about their new place.

However when you are providing medical care of any level, and are providing customer service based attention, you really ought to make sure your frontline, front office team is exceptional. Never in my entire life have I been so disrespected, dismissed, and treated less than, than being in that building. I had had a few questions regarding my dad's care. There are many siblings, I had a few concerns on visitations. More specifically what had happened was that my brother has texted saying he visited my dad. I had asked him how since we hadn't set up a "visitation list" or had never confirmed with anyone that anyone could see my dad. I also wanted to inquire on how to pay my dad rent -- as there was never a conversation had, and a failure to disclose such information. Nope! He walked right in, didn't even get questioned or stopped to sign in, just walked right in and visited my dad. How inappropriate, I know, so when I went to Cécilia the ugly inside and out front desk lady to ask about how this was allowed I was met with yelling, a nasty attitude, and a horrible experience where I was then ganged up on by her and Ana, a barely English speaking nurse who were both at that point berating and belittling me. Mind you, they are the ones in charge of care. They said the reason for them treating me this was as because lack of payment. They then labeled me, a 25 yr old Hispanic man as violent, aggressive, and rude -- in this political climate. How tone deaf. My dad on the other hand is having a blast. He's being treated well and I ended up just giving him a phone so he can report to me directly while he's still cognitive but after that I'm not too sure what my options are. Long story short, great overall care. Horrible front office and leading/managerial staff. They aren't trust worthy and are unfortunately just there for the check. P.s don't even try to get into contact with them. Carlos and Tony? Terry? Have never gotten back to a single email that my sister and I have sent them -- we have receipts!

The environment is welcoming and comfortable, and what stood out to us the most was how kind, caring, and empathetic the staff were. Everyone we encountered treated my relative with patience, compassion, and respect. Going through an injury and recovery can be a difficult and stressful experience, so having a supportive team made a meaningful difference. We used a placement service that identified JH for us. We had several tours of other homes that were all in the same Valley area, and all around the same cost. What immediately stood out were the owners and the team on site. All friendly, caring, truly kind people. Andrei, who gave us our tour, was friendly, so knowledgeable and totally honest. He even brought up previous ownership issues the facility had faced and other issues that as a business owner, he had learned through and made specific improvements to address any issues. The care team that is on site is just amazing. They cook all meals in the kitchens right there so you know your family member will be getting home cooked meals that are nutritious and delicious (do NOT visit during meal prep time or you WILL want a plate!) These ladies bring a smile to Mom's face when they engage and I can tell just how much Mom has enjoyed getting to know them. The facility is also lovely. There is ample space with really nicely sized private rooms and bathrooms. The homes are in lovely garden surroundings and I'm pretty sure Jackie's Hideaway has turned my Mom into a bird watcher!!! While touring facilities in searching for a spot, Jackie's Hideaway was the only location that didn't focus on the glitz and window dressing of the facility. At one spot, the owner only focused on how expensive all of the decor was and how my Mom would be surrounded with luxury. I needed my mom to be surrounded by care and people who were going to be there to help her and not let her worry for a single thing. My mom chooses to hang in her room, but other residents are usually in the TV room or enjoying the garden when it isn't too hot outside. This freedom to do what makes you most happy...as odd as it sounds...is a big plus in these types of facilities. Many spots do what is most convenient for the staff...NOT for the residents. Jackie's Hideaway does not take that route. We are SO thankful we found Jackie's Hideaway and know that their care has lifted anxiety and worry from Mom...and from us. We hope to be a long-term success story!!!
