Dr. Nicole Aponte and every member of the staff at SMAH have proven over the years to be my greatest ally in the care of my pets. Dr. Aponte is thorough in her examinations and takes the time to explain everything to me. She knows each of my cats by name and remembers their history and frankly this is better than I manage on a daily basis. If I ever have questions or concerns she addresses them in terms I can understand. Over the years she and the whole staff have taught me to administer sub-Q fluids at home (saving tons of money for me and lots of stress for the feline who needed them). They have been a shoulder to cry on when it's time to let one go off to the Bridge. They are, quite simply, they people I trust completely with the pets I love. This place isn't fancy, and located down a drive off Memorial just eat of Hairston (just west of the entrance to the Wells Fargo) you might miss it. The much more fancy, state of the art hospital is located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Snellville and this is just a short drive if things like orthopaedic surgery is needed. My Phoebe had to have knee surgery when she was only 16 months and Dr. Brown did a great job out of Snellville. If you live within 15 miles and don't see this vet you are missing a great opportunity.

He also seemed to be taking a while to heal from scarring which would last for over a month. They prescribed a med that was bad for his liver along w/ glucosamine. I gave him the glucosamine and researched for many different remedies to heal my D's hip issues. When his energy was still so low at only 5 years, I made my appointment at Mainstreet Vet. Diesel was diagnosed during his first visit. To my amazement, there were many other things wrong with him than i had anticipated, one being his liver. I pointed out the scars that hadn't healed and he said as soon as we fixed his liver his scars would go away as well. After about 2 months on the program we are now in the maintenance phase and Diesel has so much more energy than he had before and his scars have completely healed. I have found out about food allergens which I didn't know he had before. Dr. Moorehead and the staff were exceptional and knew exactly how to treat D each time he came in. I am a firm believer in Nutrition Response Therapy and Mainstreet Vets. FYI- They are located a 40 minute drive away from me and I am thinking they will replace D's regular Vet.

Don't bother visiting this facility. The team is knowledgeable but have no social intelligence. A veterinarian is someone who you build a relationship with and must see often, so choose wisely.

This is my first Yelp review. That should say something…read more I've been taking my dogs to vets, multiple dogs and multiple vets for over 20 years. Four years ago I took my beagle mutt to my local vet and was told that she had a common eye condition that required a $1000 surgery to correct. I asked my friends if they could recommend another vet and someone came back with this place. Dr. Gibson said that he didn't think the surgery was necessary and that we should try an allergy shot to see if the eye watering was environment related. A week and $40 later she has been fine ever since. I've used him ever since. This is the cheapest, most no nonsense vet in the state. Dr. Gibson is a warm, compassionate, old school "man's man", a Georgia Bulldog vet grad, and a genuine lover of animals. His wife runs the desk and he works in clear view of the waiting room with the door to his work area open. NOW, LET ME BE CLEAR. The office smells and his work station is an absolute disaster. While the table where your animal is examined is clean and he disinfects his instruments before use, this is not a glamorous operation. Your dog licks his own testicles, and your cat eats her own puke. They don't care that his wife hand writes all your information on an index card filing system or that nail clippers are a little rusty. What you care about is honest, competent, reasonably priced vet care. Dr. Gibson is in his 70's and based on his proper diagnosis of my dog's eyes and the information he offers during your visits, I can tell that he's extremely knowledgeable. And when he baby talks and pets my dogs while giving them shots, just like I would, I know he genuinely loves animals. Seriously, I would let this guy operate on me.

On our very FIRST visit, Dr.Oh climbed down on the floor and did a digital exam and found that KODI had a polyp that was causing at least most of the problem. We scheduled surgery with her to remove the polyp but during surgery Dr.Oh found that the polyp was larger than first examined and she indicated KODI needed to go to Blue Pearl for more extensive surgery. To sum up the story, KODI had a successful surgery, tumor was not malignant, and he is doing exceptionally well thanks to a wonderful Dr. Oh who took the time and care to do what being a veterinarian is all about...caring for those who have no voice. The pricing is reasonable and very clear on the website, and they explain everything that you get with the selected package. She told us it would take 1-2 weeks, and we got a call back asking us to pick up about a week and a half after we dropped her off. The place was extremely clean, the staff is amazing, and the service they provide is astounding. The location is a bit strange, as it's in an office park, but the environment inside is immediately warm and welcoming as soon as you walk in. Don't let the initial outside looks fool you. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who has lost their beloved pet and is going through many difficult emotions. The staff will handle it gracefully and treat you with the utmost respect.
