    Our excellent lunch.
    Rene L.

Small dining room is deceiving, it can actually accommodate 25-30 customers, but fear not, there is a second dining room that can easily accommodate 100 +/-. Went to lunch here today with a friend who is a big fan of Indian cuisine, having had it literally all over the world. He did the ordering. We started with a Taj Mahal Indian beer, one of several selections of imported and domestic beers and wines offered. We had the vegetable samosa as our appetizer: crispy pastries filled with potato, peas and spices. NOT GREASY! Had to emphasize this point, had them in other restaurants and thought they should be called "greasy devils." Then it was off to two of his favorites that quickly became mine as well: Mutter Paneer - Paneer, peas, tomato based sauce, Garam masala, spices. (Paneer is a type of cheese.). Then Chicken Korma - grilled chicken breast chucks cooked in rich cashew cream sauce. We each had a side of flavorful rice and shared the freshly made naan. At my friends suggestion (am I glad that he did) we each had an order of rice pudding for dessert. It tasted to cardamon, rose water, nuts and saffron. Although I have never visited India, I have been to "Indian" restaurants. After this feast, I feel that others were imposters while this was authentic on many levels. Fast, attentive service without fuss. A pleasant Summer lunch. Now time for a nap.

I might agree there has been some service issues as help is hard to find in Keene however the food here is nothing less than amazing.

As a complementary drink, we are having a "rose pine." That's what they call it. It's nice! I taste ginger! For my drink, I'm having a Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour made with whiskey, lemon, maple syrup and cinnamon. I like the traditional Indian glass. This tastes good! It does lack a garnish though. My only gripe here is that it took a while (20-25 minutes?) for the drinks came out considering the number of tables here (4-5). For my entree, I'm having chicken vindaloo made with peppercorn, vinaigrette and masala chili sauce. They have a 1-5 heat rating. 5 baby! It's tasty and pretty hot! Wow! What a great meal!

Like many places in Brattleboro, the service veries from imprecise to genuinely odd. The prices are rather high and the portions are on the smaller side. We attempted to order several different beers and were told they were out of a number of options. This is probably the only Indian restaurant I've been to that didn't have either Taj Mahal or Kingfisher beers as options. They brought out our samosas before our drinks. There were no chutneys to go with the samosas. After some additional wait time they brought the naan and then we waited a good 10 or 12 minutes until the entrees arrived. They twice mentioned that the rice was a "free side dish", which is a bit like a pizza place telling you that the crust is a free add-on. The food is reasonably good, but for the price ($33 for a chicken tikka masala) one expects it to be outstanding. The Chicken Chennai was the best flavored of the 4 we tried. They included a 20% gratuity in the check for a table of four. This doesn't give you any latitude to reward good service or note less than stellar service. It was a bit over $200 for four entrees and one appetizer along with 2 alcoholic drinks. While the food was pretty good, I am somewhat hesitant to heartily recommend this place. Given that it is Brattleboro, there's a decent chance it won't even exist in a year, so you might want to give it a shot while you have the opportunity.

We arrived very close to closing time, and usually that's when you don't expect the best food or service. However, the staff were incredibly prompt, courteous, and genuinely warm throughout our visit. The food was exceptional, and we made sure to thank the chef personally. The prices were very reasonable, the restaurant had beautiful music playing, the tables and linens were spotless, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. To top it all off, they surprised us with dessert on the house. The entire experience was heartfelt and memorable. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and outstanding hospitality.

The jhol momos are steamed and served in a savory tomato, peanut, sesame, and timur (pepper) broth. These were SO tasty and something I've never tried before! The combination of the tender, juicy dumpling with that nutty, savory, slightly spicy broth was seriously delicious. Butter chicken is always a favorite of mine--a velvety smooth, creamy tomato sauce loaded with flavor and tender bites of chicken. And the naan... ohh emmm geee. Some of the best naan I've had. The garlic and butter are BLASTING off in your mouth in the best possible flavor explosion. I could eat these all day long, especially dipped into the butter chicken sauce or that jhol broth. But finally I did and boy am I happy. Very much a family affair - husband and wife who share maitre'd and server responsibilities. And other relatives in the kitchen cooking up a storm. What first grabbed my attention were the huge number of dosas they offer. Seeing any dosa on a menu at all is a rarity and so to see the wide variety they feature was amazing. I opted for the Andhra Kara Masala and it was excellent. The dosa itself crispy and warm and the condiments beautifully integrated. We opted for the mixed veggie pakoras as an appetizer on the recommendation of the owner and they were served warm and crispy. The batter was light - nothing like the thick sludge that usually adorns the deep fried nuggets of vegetable delight. The accompanying tamarind sauce was sweet and clean and the mint-cilantro suitably refreshing. Lovey got garlic naan and saag paneer. Smooth and creamy, the saag was exactly as hoped for and the garlic naan was chewy, warm and toothsome. Dessert was carrot halwa. Hard to believe carrots make such an excellent warm dessert but they do. Richly satisfying with just the right touch of sweetness. We look forward to returning and sampling the rest of the menu!
