The best Indian food on this side of the water. Owners and staff are welcoming and friendly. The price of the food is priced very reasonable (~$15/ plate). The Chicken Marsala (breast so can be a little dry) was creamy and the Chicken Tandoori was very flavorful. The Garlic Naan Bread was good, a bit crispy for me but still very good. The restaurant is large but the parking is small, I heard some ppl needed to park in the Staples parking lot. They have Indian beer you can take to go (~$11 for large bottle)along with a variety of wines. The facility was very clean and when someone left, staff was quick to wipe the space down. They can host large parties and it was spacious enough for someone to read a book in the corner table. Highly recommend and will be making my way back again to try other dishes. read more

I saw this place pop up on Yelp and I don't think there is much Indian food in Port Orchard. The staff was very kind and there was a decent number of people sitting in the restaurant for a late lunch. Ordered the Chicken Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, and chili onion naan. Each curry came with rice that was nicely fragrant. You get to choose your spice level, so we chose 7/6 for our dishes. I personally could have gone spicier. My favorite was the Chicken Vindaloo. There was so much depth in flavor to the dish and had that addicting taste. The butter chicken was also good (that was ordered at a 6 level spice), but I think because it's creamy, I could have gone spicier. In both curries, there is a decent amount of protein. The naan like the other reviews say is thin, but has a nice crisp to it and is still very good. I'm giving this 5 stars in comparission to other spots in Port Orchard. If it were in an area that perhaps had more Indian food, then I might give it a 4.5. I will definitely be coming back though. read more

The food here is amazing! I haven't had curry this good in 6 years. We ordered the chicken tikka and butter chicken and the Lamb Korma. The chicken and lamb were so tender it was no chore to chew it. I would order the butter chicken 100 more times. The ambiance is a little lacking as it looks almost exactly like the Italian place that used to be there before the Royal Tandoor moved in. If you are local then you know this is what is now in the building of what was a beloved and long-standing Italian deli/restaurant. They haven't made a lot of changes to the interior as of yet - changed out the wall décor and the front glass cases are now filled with beer and wine (no doubt some beer from India, didn't look closely). I was a little bit disappointed with the state of the women's bathroom (the toilet paper was not refilled), and I wish our plates had been removed a bit quicker (it was piling up); otherwise, we had a nice time and appreciated the politeness of the staff. The food was good all around. We tried almost every protein - tofu, chicken, lamb, fish - and all was tasty. The biriyani, nice and moist. The sauces just as spicy or not spicy as you request. My experience with Indian food is from years in the San Francisco Bay Area. - The mango lassi was thick and not things by too much juice. - The samosas looked and tasted handmade. The crust wasn't too thin or great. - The garlic naan was thinner than I'm used to, but still very good. - The chicken vindaloo had large pieces. Although i asked for spice level of 10, it was mild to me. But that's just me. The servings were enough for two people, so I had enough for dinner. Every other place I've had it, they use their tandoori chicken, which has a nice char. Chicken in this one was cubed and rather tasteless. Curry special, lamb: good spices and flavor with tender lamb. Would get again Malai kofta: first time having this dish. Expected more veggies in the kofta, but overall a good dish. Heavy coriander flavor. All dishes come with rice which had good flavor in it, which was nice! Had a case up front with beer and wine, but nothing on the menu? Me and my cousins were so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. The food was so good. The service was great. It wasn't loud. Everyone there kept to a minimum in terms of volume and I think me and my brother fan-girling over how good the food was might have been the most noise in there.(sorry.) I'm a fairly picky eater of Indian food thanks to having Punjabi roommates for three years that introduced me to excellent Indian food. This one passes the test. The service was great. Quick, attentive and friendly. The Palak Paneer was bomb...of course mixed with some great garlic Naan. Chicken Vindaloo and samosas were also great. I am so happy to see this establishment doing so well in Port Orchard and have heard and read nothing but wonderful things about it since it opened. Oh, my yummy-ness! The food is so delicious! Generous portions, flavorful, with spice levels from 1-10. Right up there with the other top rated Indian restaurants, and much closer to home. In the former Cosmos building. The parking lot can be crowded, that's how popular this new place is. Overflow parking is in the Staples lot, closest to the restaurant. Its not often i see a vegan section in an Indian menu. I was very excited and pleased. Royal Tandoor is delicious! I called in an order for takeout of their Aloo Banigan and parathas. They do their spicy level on a scale of 1 -10. I ordered a 4, thinking it would be more of a medium spicy, but it was very mild. The rice was lightly spiced with bay leaves and cumin seeds. The Aloo Banigan had giant chunks of eggplant, potatoes and peppers. The parathas were also wonderfully flavorful, stuffed with potatoes and peas. Everything was full of flavor. So, first and foremost, I would come back to this place for the Masala Chai alone. It by itself is an experience like drinking a good wine and easily better than any coffee I've ever had. I would switch to tea for this. But, there is of course also the food. The Lamb Roganjosh is a fantastic curry that is reminiscent of a well spiced roast beef, soft and tender, bursting with flavor and the sauce is a savory sweet almost gravy. The rice served does not disappoint either, it tastes so good you could eat it by itself, flavored with cumin and a bit of salt I think and it does not stick together. The Onion Kulcha is a stuffed naan bread with onions and spices, absolutely fantastic by itself but even better when dipped in the curry. Now, I am not one for spice normally because of certain health issues but my brothers 5/10 spice level curry smelled so good I had to try it. They know how to spice their food, perfectly. It was hot but not for the point of heat, you could still enjoy all the flavors whilst in pain. Lastly, the Gulab Jamun, a pair of deep fried dough balls in a small bowl of sweetened rose water. The best way I can describe it is like the taste of flan over vanilla ice cream but it's just bread. Not cloyingly sweet and yet the flavor stays with you for quite a while. I think my only tiny complaint was the service time, this place is going to need a helluva lot more servers for Friday through Sunday. read more

A new Port Orchard favorite! I honestly wasn't sure how much I like Indian food, but a friend of mine wanted to try this restaurant so I went with her. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly by several different employees who walked us to our table. I was truly thrilled with the level of service we received during our visit as that seems to be lacking with many restaurants lately, I ordered the garlic naan and coconut shrimp curry with zero spice because I didn't want it too spicy, next time I would go up a couple notches. It's funny - the more I go to this place the less I like it. I think we were just so desperate for good Indian food in this food desert, we overreacted. Everything is decent- the curries, naan (garlic is good) and chicken tikkan masala are all fine- just not great. The heat is also a bit misleading - more spice than advertised. What a delightful place! We were sad to see one of our go-to spots shutting down. And when we heard it would be Indian, we were cautiously optimistic. We were surprised at the tremendous quality we received the first time and a dozen more. We've normally gone to Gig Harbor, but now we have it right in our backyard. Lovely people are attentive to every need. And the food is remarkable. Bright and fresh, yet flavors meld together with spices in each dish. Butter chicken is always a go-to. But a nice surprise is the chicken and mushroom curry. My wife "made" me try it. This place is GREAT for families; all of our grandkids (at least ten that are 4-13 years old) LOVE TO go. I was really excited to have an Indian place in Port Orchard. We went a day or two after they opened. They replaced a much loved restaurant in the community. They did a slight remodel to include Indian style artwork. They had nice music, but not the typical sitar music that plays in many Indian restaurants. It is a nice place to go on a date. The food was excellent, we had somosas, vegetable pakoras, garlic nan, tandoori chicken, saag paneer, and tofu coconut curry. All were very nice. They have a heat scale of 1 to 10. We had the tofu with a 3 and the saag with a 5. To be honest, there was no heat. When I go next, I'm going 9 or 10. We went early and by the time we finished they were packed and doing a good takeout service. I think it's going to be a new community favorite. read more

The menu is pretty extensive but the staff are knowledgeable and helped us pick a couple of dishes. We ordered a Malai Methi Muttar, a Karahi Lamb, and a mango lassi. We were passing through Washington and had a craving for Indian food, so we decided to check out Royal Tandoor. Honestly, we didn't have high hopes since Port Orchard isn't exactly known for its Indian food scene -- but wow, were we wrong! We ordered dal makhani, bhindi masala, and methi malai matar, and every single dish was bursting with flavor. Absolute comfort food! For dessert, we had gulab jamun -- perfectly warm and just the right amount of sweet. We're vegetarians, so we can't say much about the non-veg options, but judging by how well the veg dishes were made, we're pretty sure everything on the menu is amazing. The vibe was super chill too, with soft instrumental music playing in the background. We're from the Bay Area, and honestly, it's kind of a shame we don't have more Indian restaurants like this there -- even with such a huge Indian community.
