Visit Butter chicken Indian kitchen with a huge appetite, the owner is really sweet and absolutely generous with portions. This small little place packs a punch with all those flavours. We were starving after walking few miles and it was a perfect choice to indulge in. We had the Butter chicken, garlic naan, roti, dal makhani (it was okay not the exact makhani), tandoori chicken platter (the pieces were massive! I wish they could be 2 bite sized. The charred edged ones were just perfect ), Chai (wouldn't recommend, sorry) and all these major dishes come with a huge portion of rice. Enough parking spots available within the plot. Although the place was empty the kitchen was super busy with all the takeouts. Craving for their butter chicken and garlic naan even as I write

I absolutely loved this place. I was in India last year and have a real appreciation for the culture and cuisine, and the food here tasted incredibly authentic. I went with my sisters and we all agreed it was amazing. We ordered samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Biryani, and Garlic Naan. Every dish was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. The decor is traditional and cozy, giving it that tucked away hidden gem feel. I'm not local, but I've been to India and I eat a lot of South Asian cuisine, and based on that experience I would highly recommend this restaurant. Parking was easy and we found a spot right away.

My Friend and I had lunch at Butter Chicken in Gig Harbor. We had the loaded papadum (crispy bread) to start. For our main courses, she had the butter chicken. I had the spinach and potato dish made with coconut milk. Everything was served with basmati rice. We opted for the level three spice level. The portions are very generous. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great and it was really a wonderful experience. The restaurant has such a nice vibe.

Ordered lunch via DoorDash to share with a friend, including lamb biryani, chicken biryani, paneer pakora, and both strawberry and mango lassi. The paneer pakora had a mild, pleasant taste, though it lacked crispiness--good if you're into simpler flavors. The chicken biryani was underwhelming, with bland chicken and flavorless rice. The lamb was cooked well and nicely seasoned, but unfortunately, the rice didn't hold up in terms of taste. The strawberry lassi was sweet and enjoyable. Overall, I didn't find the meal particularly impressive. Unable to comment on the ambience or service since it's a to go order.

Best Indian food I've ever had... from the quality of entrees, to the chutneys and the hospitality. Don't let the small restaurant fool you- it's a gem. We were given lassi (mango and strawberry) and they were the perfect after dinner treat. You can't go wrong with anything you order

This place exceeded all expectations. I got the lamb vindaloo with a spice level of 4. Not overwhelming, just a nice heat with amazing flavor. Their naan was perfect and as a surprise the waiter brought out a sample of the mango lassie and rice pudding. I probably mirdered the spelling but it was absolutely the perfect cap to an amazing dinner. Next time I'm in Seattle I'm definitely coming back.

This hole in the wall, opened the past couple years on the main drag, can be mistaken for a gas station store. The lighting inside is aquarium meets dentist chair (hey guys go spend $20 at home depot for some soft light bulbs). The 'art is actually (innocently) scotched taped to the tragic blue colored burlap walls. A security camera flashes green incessantly from a ceiling corner in the small dining room. However the northern Indian food served here is grand. Authentic. Some even exquisite. (Excluding the red dyed looking tandoori chicken which while filling and decent was more like something Aunt Hilda would attempt). The service was very kind and never pressuring. Never have been in a place not Thai that asks what level of hot spice you want. Great! 4 of 5 spice please. Cold Indian lager. Get sauces for their addicting garlic naan. Overly generous servings to take home. The food was beautiful and that's what matters.

Butter Chicken is a nice addition to dining options in Gig Harbor. The staff was friendly and helpful with dinning selections and the overall experiencs was good. I used to frequent Indian buffets downtown Seattle when I worked downtown before Covid shut many of my favorite restaurants down. The food at Butter Chicken was comparable with my favorite Indian buffets and the special here with multiple emtree choices, naan, a yummy yogurt style strawberry smoothy drink was all we could eat anyway. It was a flash that reminded me of my Indian buffet past. Welcome to the neighborhood Butter Chicken.

We stumbled upon this place while playing tourist in the area. We got the Butter chicken, Tikka Masala and something else that I forgot what it was called. Everything was delicious and more than enough to feed my family of 4. The waiter was so nice enough to give us some desserts on the house. Would highly recommend!!

We have eaten here twice. The experience is mixed. So you know where I'm coming from, I am a professional chef and culinary instructor, I have evaluated chefs around the country for certifications (including at the Pentagon), and I have judged cooking competitions, but I am not an expert in Indian cuisine, so the food may be authentic for a part of India I am not familiar with. The service was good (though we were the only ones there), and some of the food is good. Some of the dishes have very strange flavors to me. The Tandoori chicken was mostly a pile of over-cooked vegetables (see photo), including a lot of broccoli and green beans, which is not typically associated with this dish. I wouldn't have objected to the vegetables so much if they weren't overcooked and if the chicken was not so soggy from all the liquid. The naan was excellent, and the rice was fine. We also had other dishes, including two that we had both times. They were both better the second time but not great, but one was very weird-tasting the first time. I have been in kitchens in Indian restaurants before, and I asked If I could see their Tandoori oven. But I was told that would be "illegal," even though I am a certified chef and have a food worker card. If they simply were too busy, I could understand, but we were the only people in the restaurant at the time, so that was not it. Or, if they simply didn't want to allow customers into the kitchen, they could have said so. I've actually been in that kitchen before with previous owners of that location, so I'm already familiar with it. I am also a food safety instructor, and I have seen a lot of problems in kitchens. I rarely ask to tour a kitchen when it's not for official reasons, but the few times I have the restaurant welcomes me and is eager to show off what they do. Their reaction seemed a little suspicious.

REALLY good Indian food. It's just top tier. Naan bread is awesome, rice is fluffy, butter chicken is phenomenal. Everyone in Gig Harbor should be eating here or taking out at least once a month.

Do they have a lunch buffet?

I have been there twice at lunch time, and I haven't seen a lunch buffet. My guess is no, but that could always change. I suggest giving them a call. 🙏

My attitude towards Gateway slowly grew more positive after seeing them at farmer's markets and getting their Indian Tacos. Wow I still think about those and as the weather is slowly getting warmer the farmer's markets will return and I can get a hold of those again. In case you are confused what exactly is a taco at the market version of Gateway it's a kabob type chicken put in a naan bread and you can make it a spicy as you want along with a nice dash of veggies. After having so many great experiences with those we considered going back to the restaurant itself and we did when a group socializing opportunity arose. We got the (Jalapeno) Mirichi Naan which we picked off of the menu and before making that decision we realized we never had naan before with jalapenos in it so we seized the opportunity to try it. It did not disappoint at all and was so, so good. Being able to smell the aroma of the peppers coming off of the bread made us drool and devour it all all the while enduring the heat. After that I got the Saag Aloo to share with Steve. I haven't had Saag in so long and I usually get Vindaloo when it comes to Indian restaurants but this time I was wanting a change of pace. I got the Saag Aloo which is a spinach and potato dish along with onion, tomatoes and ground spices. I got a medium heat (three stars I think) and it was perfect. So delicious! Steve got the Daal Maharani which was a mixed lentil dish. It was very good as well... but I still liked my Saag the best. To drink we got the Rocket Beer which was an Indian beer which I must add they have a nice selection of Indian beers here so that was very noteworthy and well worth remembering. For dessert we split some Ginger Ice Cream and it was great! It was strongly ginger forward as one would expect but the creaminess of the ice cream kept it more tempered and it was just lovely! With our large group... I am not sure if Gateway is used to handling large parties. Service was always, always friendly and was great in that regard but it was fairly slow, some parts of people's orders were forgotten ( like Steve's Daal dish) and when our large party tried to pay a whole bunch of separate bills not everyone got one so we had to talk to the the person ringing us all up on what we ordered to cash out. Despite that part of the service being uneven we will certainly be back sooner rather than later as we really enjoyed the food a great deal on our return visit ( second visit total).

Surprised that the naan was $4.25 extra, and "to go" was an actual fifty cents charge. Hmmm. The wait staff was friendly...but our server almost killed me twice...then looked hurt when I "only" left 15%...WTH!?? They are lucky I didn't put this on my socials with 4k followers each! And left any tip at all! I explained that seeds will literally send me to the hospital because of my ulcerative colitis condition and the waitress said her mom had a similar issue, so I felt we were on the same page/felt safe. THEN soup was delivered (not ordered): delicious- but CONTAINING SEEDS! (My friend ate mine). The rice was supposed to be cumin-seed-free...but...you guessed it...arrived with seeds THAT I HAD TO SPEND A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME PICKING OUT! TBH, all of this is NOT OK. I enjoyed the food after a LOT of effort - but def will not be back.

The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, and I noticed a lot of people were ordering takeout online while we were there. Food Portion sizes were fair for the price, and they offer many vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommend getting the garlic naan with any dish. Foods tried: Garlic naan - Hot and fresh, slightly crispy with a nice savory flavor. Samosa appetizers - Comes with two, but they are pretty large and very filling. Chicken tikka masala - Served in a deceptively large portion and very savory. Lamb biryani - Kind of like their version of fried rice, served with a mild yogurt sauce on the side. Service Servers were friendly. The only downside was that the food took a little while to come out, but the wait was worth it. Overall I've been here twice already and will definitely be back again.
