Upstairs new bathroom vanity with countertop
    Erin M.

Tony and Nadine are an absolute pleasure to work with! Tony's craftsmanship is top notch and Nadine is great with all the communication and ideas. My kitchen now has a dishwasher and beautiful new countertops and my upstairs bathroom has a beautiful brand new vanity and I have so much more space! Purchasing a new home can be overwhelming but Royal Renovations really helped me create my dream home and I am forever grateful! You can feel how much this dynamic duo loves to help people create their sanctuary. I would highly recommend RR for any renovations you may be considering in your home!

Brian told us he currently did not have the money, would be traveling in Europe for several weeks, but would "guarantee to pay at latest by June 5th." We will update this review accordingly. ORIGINAL REVIEW (April 2026): Using Brian's Painting was a very disappointing and costly experience that left us with an unfinished home and significant financial loss. We hired Brian for a $10,000 exterior painting project. After collecting $6,000, he completed only about 10% of the work, then abandoned the project and stopped communicating. Brian requested a 40% deposit ($4,000) and later an additional 20% ($2,000) after a short prep stage that took about eight hours. After receiving the $6,000, he returned only twice for brief visits over several weeks, then dropped the job, leaving the house unfinished. (See attached photos.) We attempted to resolve the matter in good faith. We agreed he could keep the $2,000 even though several licensed painters we consulted estimated that only about 10% ($1,000) of the work had been completed by Brian. He eventually agreed to refund the $4,000 deposit, but after multiple deadline extensions has only returned $1,300 and has now stopped communicating altogether. We are now pursuing recovery through court and filing a complaint with the Regulated Industries Complaints Office (RICO), which takes enforcement action against unlicensed contractors operating illegally in Hawaii. We also had prior issues with a smaller job he completed in 2023, including use of lower-grade paint than what we paid for and paint splatter left on appliances. Despite this, we gave him another opportunity when he repeatedly requested the exterior project. We greatly regret that decision now. Bottom line: We strongly recommend homeowners to look elsewhere.

This company took care of any concerns that I had with no questions asked. Their main concern was us being happy with the outcome. Even things that was from a previous paint job that was out of their control, they worked it out! I'm embarrassed to say that I even sent messages really late at night with some questions I had and the response was immediate! We even changed our minds on the color we originally chose half way through the job ( oopsie) and B&B made it happen. We had a huge job with a ton of cosmetic fixes and upgrades, I'm so happy with the outcome. Solid work, thanks B&B! Check out our photos, it speaks volumes!!!

I skimmed over a highly recommended post for Bryson and Ben, asked them to stop by for an estimate as I start packing my home. After already receiving a quote from my realtor based on photos I sent, I needed 2 more. Bryson and Ben stopped by and I showed them the areas that needed help and some other areas that I didn't quite finish but I knew will need the help. I asked them for 2 separate quotes, one for those problem areas that definitely needed the attention and only for spotting damages (no blending walls) and another for wall to wall blending of existing colors. They shared with me other things they would do such as minor repairs, varnishing on wood pieces in the house, and I asked them to add it on the quote. They also mentioned that if I had existing paint laying around they can see what can be done with it if not they are able to color match and order the paint. My last quote from another company came in and they needed precise problematic areas but this was just for painting, not for repairs. When I had the opportunity to discuss with my spouse, we decided to hire Bryson and Ben. This weekend they showed up as scheduled with all their materials. They worked diligently and were very meticulous about their work! I initially selected the spot work and minor damage repairs and they did just that. When spotting was done, they noticed the colors were a bit off because it's been 6 years since my husband painted the house and, of course, overtime, the paint tends to fade being exposed to surrounding elements overtime. I agreed with them and I appreciated them pointing out the difference after letting the paint set overnight. They would continue as planned if I still wanted just the spotted work but they felt awkward feeling like the work is not satisfactory. I was onboard and I totally agreed with them as I did not want my home's Open House with obvious spotty work! With my husband deployed, I was not able to take down the large, heavy shadow boxes that were placed in really high areas in my home, and the heavy wall mounted TV's. Bryson and Ben insisted they would take everything down, fix and repair anything needing repairs and I am so grateful!!! After 2 trips to the paint shop and long drying repair times, primer, paint, and varnish...the house looks like nothing existed on the walls! I must add that there were spots that I had missed and the guys took it upon themselves to get it done anyway! They didn't even tell me they did it!! I found the primer spots in hidden areas and a faded wall that I really didn't think needed any help! That is above and beyond in my book, and I was so fortunate to have stumbled upon their services! I made sure I compensated for the extra work and extra time, because it's rare to find honest work and work ethics and standards as high as theirs anymore. My husband has one less thing to worry about when he returns from deployment, and I couldn't be more pleased with everything Bryson and Ben has done to get the job done. 5 stars for their quick response and reasonable estimates 5 stars for their quality of work and their hard work to get things done 5 stars for their offer to help customers with other things that needed to get done. It truly lifted weight off my shoulders!! 5 stars for making the effort and initiative to fill other minor areas missed, that speaks volumes of their work ethics, morals, and values. They care about their work and the customers who depend on them, I am beyond grateful for their services and their time away from their families to help other families. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to get the job done right. They will not disappoint!! Mahalo Bryson and Ben!! And for both your families for the time away to help us out!!

He continued to manage the job and truly went out of his way to satisfy my requests, even having special moldings made to match the existing ones in my older home! Gavin headed the paint crew. He was in my house every day for 6 days until the job was done. He was amazing! I cannot say enough about Gavin as a person, and his workmanship. He was professional, easy to talk to, kept me up to date, answered questions as they arose, and did a truly excellent job painting. He did everything as he would want it done himself. My apartment had recently suffered multiple unidentified leaks this past year that has been a…read morenightmare to navigate. I first messaged Mike and other candidates in 2025 when I was gathering quotes for an insurance claim that ultimately got denied. It was very clear that Mike and the team have great workmanship from the photos - this is coming from someone who's seen great drywall work and extremely poor work that I could do better myself. I could tell right off the bat that these were the guys I wanted to work with. The proof was in the "mudding" as I changed scope to account for materials, budget, level 4-5 finish, and paint finish quality. Having to pay out of pocket for an expense I anticipated someone else to cover was a bit of a concern for my wallet. Mike was patient with me and we worked out a price we could agree on by removing items from the scope that might still been in good condition and limiting the amount of work that needed to be done on a bump-out wall next to my shower. John texted me soon after we agreed to move forward and scheduled the work for the following week. He also suggested a change in material (DensShield) from what I had originally requested (blueboard) and I am so grateful to have skilled/experienced teammates to work with that really know what they're doing. Day 1 was demolition, hanging, and mudding. John was finished and out before lunch and I could already tell that the quality of work was spectacular. You couldn't even tell the ceiling was repaired because it was blended in perfectly with the surrounding area. The bump-out wall was looking way better than it was even prior to the water damage. We left the fan on throughout the day and overnight to let the hot mud dry out. Day 2 was sanding, priming, and painting. Fortunately, I purchased and stored paint that was specific to my bathroom from a previous repair and had it at the ready this time around as well. Honestly, when I first discovered the leak, I originally planned to fix it myself so I also had a brand new container of primer. I'm pretty satisfied with the work, especially with the DensShield suggestion and installation in both affected areas to account for future leaks. I didn't know such product existed and the workmanship mudding a material such as DensShield and it essentially coming out nearly flawless is pretty impressive. Overall, I would give Mike's team a solid 9/10. Prompt responses, flexibility in materials/scope, and great quality of work. The quote, as some have mentioned is on the higher side compared to other candidates I'd spoken with, but I learned the last time that you get what you pay for. Could I have gotten it cheaper? 100%. Would it have come out as good? Not sure. The last guy I hired at maybe half the price got the job done, but clearly not done well and that's what got me in this predicament, SO... don't cheap out if you can help it - especially for a bathroom or high-moisture/high-risk area. I'm certain I'll be working with Mike and the team in the future and there are no regrets here as compared to my last drywall adventure. Thank you Mike & John for your patience and hard work.

I was also under time constraints to get the job done quickly to qualify for my new homeowner's insurance policy. Roger came out and did a thorough inspection of the home and explained how the process would go and answered all of my questions about points of concern I had around the house, and made me feel very comfortable with the project. Tricia and Jeff were able to answer any additional queries I had by phone or email in a timely manner. Luckily, due to my need to have the job done asap, Jeff said he'd be able to fit me in just a month later. There was a slight delay to starting the job at my house due to weather, but Tricia kept me up to date along the way and it wasn't long before Roger and his crew were showing up to get the job underway. Roger and his paint crew were on site early every day, and worked tirelessly from 7:00-3:00 nonstop for 7 days. I left drinks for them in a cooler but I really don't know if these guys took a break, they just busted butt all day long. On the first day they pressure washed the whole house to remove dirt and debris. Over the course of the next four days they slaved away getting the home ready for a new finish. The amount of prep work my house needed was overwhelming and they cut no corners in removing the old tired paint and doing minor repairs to weather damaged surfaces here and there until they had a bare smooth canvas to work with. After the whole house was primed it took another two days to lay two coats of Sherwin Williams Duration down on the whole house and finish the trim work, and the end result is nothing short of amazing. My nearly 50 year old home looks brand new. The amount of pride Roger and his crew take in their work showed through in the finished product and its perfection all around. They always showed up early and worked right til the end, and left every day having cleaned up and put things away. They were always happy and friendly. Before the job was completed Roger made sure I was perfectly happy with everything and that they left me 100% satisfied. I can say with certainty that hiring Platinum Painting Service for this project was money well spent, and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to have someone repaint their home.
