He tore down an old closet and removed a door to give us a flat back wall for a new built-in, framed and drywalled around a lava rock wall so we could install an AC unit, and covered up a CMU wall to give it a clean, smooth look. He also helped with a few smaller fixes along the way without any fuss. He showed up on time, worked quickly, and paid close attention to the details. The work areas were kept tidy every day, and he explained what he was doing so we always knew the plan. What stood out most was how versatile and skilled he is--he handled framing, drywall, and finish work all in one go. He's easy to talk to, gives honest feedback, and genuinely wants the end result to look good. Brian told us he currently did not have the money, would be traveling in Europe for several weeks, but would "guarantee to pay at latest by June 5th." We will update this review accordingly. ORIGINAL REVIEW (April 2026): Using Brian's Painting was a very disappointing and costly experience that left us with an unfinished home and significant financial loss. We hired Brian for a $10,000 exterior painting project. After collecting $6,000, he completed only about 10% of the work, then abandoned the project and stopped communicating. Brian requested a 40% deposit ($4,000) and later an additional 20% ($2,000) after a short prep stage that took about eight hours. After receiving the $6,000, he returned only twice for brief visits over several weeks, then dropped the job, leaving the house unfinished. (See attached photos.) We attempted to resolve the matter in good faith. We agreed he could keep the $2,000 even though several licensed painters we consulted estimated that only about 10% ($1,000) of the work had been completed by Brian. He eventually agreed to refund the $4,000 deposit, but after multiple deadline extensions has only returned $1,300 and has now stopped communicating altogether. We are now pursuing recovery through court and filing a complaint with the Regulated Industries Complaints Office (RICO), which takes enforcement action against unlicensed contractors operating illegally in Hawaii. We also had prior issues with a smaller job he completed in 2023, including use of lower-grade paint than what we paid for and paint splatter left on appliances. Despite this, we gave him another opportunity when he repeatedly requested the exterior project. We greatly regret that decision now. Bottom line: We strongly recommend homeowners to look elsewhere.

We got quotes from other people, some were over $1000 which to me is totally absurd for one wall - I think they priced us at $1,400 or something like that, not to say the effort doesn't deserve a decent amount of payment but over a grand just seemed like a lot especially for our budget. Homer gave us a quote of $450 and knowing he had good reviews on Yelp I was comfortable saying yes. He was on time, professional, super nice, made sure I knew he was still arriving to do the job the day before, always messaged me back if I had questions, and the final result is incredible. He showed up in the morning just like he said he would and was done in the early afternoon. If I ever need someone to do wallpaper services in future renovations I am absolutely contacting Homer to do the job! Bryson knows what he's doing and has a solution for everything that was bad with our worn down exterior. We let the exterior paint deteriorate for too long, and now the house looks brand new. Prep work needed a lot, and Bryson was meticulous when prepping every surface including the gutters, overhangs, window sills, and worn areas requiring extensive work. Pressure wash, caulk, fill, and sand. Then some repeated to make things look new again. He's genuine and does what he says he's going to do. No skimping. He uses quality Sherwin Williams paint that is expected to last. Paint is sprayed, rolled, and brushed and looks flawless. Man....such a difference! And of course, his estimate came in at around the mid-range compared to others. Completely worth the money. Hire B&B! They also painted the entire interior of our house a year ago which prior to our moving in, was a rental property. Now it's ready for a photo shoot! It turns out that she did the best job in properly scoping the required work, and the quote reflected that. After we got the source of the leak repaired (which took months to get someone to just so that), we circled back with Jay and scheduled. She and her crew were efficient, communicative, did clean and expert work, and finished the job in the time promised at a very fair price that was well within scope. When you go thru an event that creates sudden home damage, it's easy to get desperate and choose a professional service in haste. While we were ultimately able to get a few quotes, there was a lot of "sales talk" and "more than the necessary scope" along the way. Aside from price, take time to think about the character and professionalism of who you may hire. I can say with 100% confidence that if you hire Jay of JB Elite Drywall, the job will be done perfectly. I had a rather difficult job that I did not want to do myself. It involved a very small attic space…read moreabove the garage that was not insulated when the house was built. Because we had electrical conduit installed in the attic space for our photovoltaic panels and battery back up, we wanted to have it as cool as possible. I called Harry Oneha, owner of HDrywall to ask if he would be able to do the installation. He came out the day I called and gave me a very reasonable quote. He then installed the insulation within a couple of weeks. The installers were meticulous, covering the floors and walls with plastic. They used planks to ensure no damage to the ceilings of the garage. The height of the attic space went from less than 3 feet at the peak of the attic to zero where the rafters came down the ceiling joists. Despite that, they were able to get insulation into the rafters in all areas. Better yet, even though the attic was a very hot and confined space, the installers did not complain at all... they were actually very pleasant and happy. When they finished in the attic, they cleaned the garage completely and left "not a trace of debris". Generally, when I have a job done, I need to hire another company to fix and clean up after them... but not with Harry's crew! They were amazing. I am a rather OCD person, and if workers can get a good rating from me, that means a WHOLE lot! KUDOS and sincere thanks to HDrywall. I'd have them back to do work for me in a heartbeat!

H Drywall replaced rotted wood and restructured the supports. They also installed new wood floor on the deck, rebuilt the steps and repainted the whole deck and stairs with top quality primer and topcoat. Their work was top-notch! The carpentry was careful and done well, involving us in every decision. Talking to the carpenter was easy, and he was very knowledgeable and skilled. So also with the painter. They really wanted to do a quality job! All workers were thoughtful, careful and proud of the quality of their work. We highly recommend them!

A&R painting is definitely a great company to work with. My parents were due for a painting on the exterior of our Ewa Beach home. They are very professional and waste no time in getting the job done. They started off with a power washing on Thursday and completed the entire project by Sunday. We are impressed with the work they've done for a highly reasonable price. We have gotten multiple proposals with different companies and not only was the proposal the best one we had, but Rogelio was personable and friendly to get along with. It took about a week to get everything situated since my parents live in an association community, but Rogelio worked in a timely manner to make sure we had everything we needed. Rogelio and his team are hardworking and exceptional at that they do. He and his men display the highest amount of professionalism and produce quality work. I would most definitely recommend using A&R painting for your painting needs. read more

They scheduled us months earlier (because when you are good, people will wait for you), and they started on the exact day they promised. They showed up every morning at 7 and brought everything they needed, including their own scaffolding. It is not easy work, but they are machines. On the last day it was incredibly windy / gusty, but they managed to finish the project even though much of it was from scaffolding and on the windy side of the house. They removed hose reels, masked light fixtures and windows, shielded landscaping, painted our gutters and downspouts, and cleaned up at the end of the day. You will not find easier-going, nicer guys. That's probably why you will also not find anybody else that does what they do for as long as they've done it with ALL 5 Star reviews. Over the three weeks it took (preparation & painting) it was easy to see their skills and desire to deliver a quality end result.
