My father was recently a patient here and spent his final days in peace and comfort, thanks to the…read morehard-working and compassionate staff at Holy Family. The nursing staff was responsive to his every need and checked on him frequently. The pastoral care he received was equally wonderful. Sister Margaret Mary, in particular, was so warm and loving toward him, and I was touched by her kindness. I'm sure she brought him much comfort! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by how the staff took such good care of my family and I while we kept vigil in my dad's room. Between my brother, my mom and myself, we never left his side on the weekend he passed. The staff saw to it that I had a pillow and blanket to keep me comfortable while I slept there overnight, and they also brought me a phone charger when I needed it. One day, a staff member cooked my mom a grilled cheese sandwich just for her, because she knew she needed to eat. They promised us they would do anything they could for us, and they certainly did! When my dad passed away, we were all given a hug by our wonderful nurse, and given reassurance that he was no longer in pain. I could tell that one of the other nurses present was fighting back tears, which touched me, as well, knowing that I was not alone in my grief. I really just can't say enough good things about the wonderful people working there who make it their mission to provide comfort and care to their patients and their families. And the facility, itself, is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. Nobody wants to have to bring their loved one to a hospice, but if you should find yourself looking for a facility to provide palliative care for your family member, you really couldn't ask for a place better than Holy Family.

i am forced to give one star in order to submit this, but I honestly cannot even give this place…read moreone star. I am submitting this in the hopes anyone who even considers this place reads this. This place should be shut down!! After being released from Southwest after gall bladder extraction, my mother-in-law went here for rehab on 10/29/19 since she was weak and had been in bed for ten days straight. This was a woman who still did her cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc. After a day or so of arriving at ManorCare, she complained of her mouth being on fire, to which she was told there was nothing; however, by the end she had thrush all the way down her esophagus. It took forever to get anyone to put her on the toilet and then they'd just leave her. Forget about helping her eat anything. We visited every day and requested information. We were told blood work was good but when I actually asked to see it, she was dehydrating and that was blood taken two days earlier. I asked if maybe they'd consider hanging a bag since she stopped eating and given the numbers. I was told that "we won't hang a bag the first day they stop eating." Given the poor care, I asked if someone would keep a close watch on it as she was looking jaundice. Needless to say the next day (11/6/19 - eight days after admission!!) we and her doctor demanded she go to the ER. It took THREE hours for the ambulance to come and she was in the ER about 5 pm that day. She was terrible and not conscious. She had back ulcers, sores all over her bottom, was extremely dehydrated, and had thrush all down her throat and mouth. The hospital was so appalled they took pictures. After hours of hydration, medication to bring her blood pressure up and vancomycin, she began to look less jaundice and move her a feet a little. We got her settled into ICU for the night, but she did not make it to daylight. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

It's difficult for me to be objective about this facility because my father died there but I'll do…read moremy best. My father was transferred here from Parma Hospital after he suffered a stroke in another Parma nursing home. Guests start with a very good first impression because it is clean, roomy, and full of art near the entrance. They also have good physical accessories including pneumatic beds to prevent bedsores. Unfortunately that can't make up for the uncaring staff that does the bare minimum or less. He needed assistance with eating but never got it unless we were there. They don't even let the patients watch the television channel that they want, they keep switching everyone to a channel that the staff prefers. After he was certified to need hospice care they refused to let him transfer to a hospice facility but kept him there giving him almost no attention while he starved to death. My mother stayed here earlier this year for ten days recovering from a fall. She had multiple issues with lack of care from the staff and says that she is never staying there again.

As a professional guardian, I have frequent need of hospice services for the individuals I care…read morefor. Gentiva Hospice was recommended by a colleague and was the first hospice provider I had ever worked with. They were wonderful......from the beginning when I worked with Jen to set up their services, during the entire length of the many services and support they provided in helping my individual live their life to the fullest and at the end. I highly recommended Gentiva Hospice to colleagues, friends and family.

terrible experience with this company. nurse was not loving, kind, compassionate to our father…read more we never received the products we were told were ordered--we ended up having to go out and purchase all diapers, wipes, gloves, etc. they didn't explain the three medications that were to be giving to him and what to listen and look for. we were on our own pretty much...just a short visit each day and the nurse didn't ever touch him. when told he had numerous bed sores from being in the hospital and rehab, she never even looked at them and didn't give us any advise. don't get me started on the day he died...we had to wait for her to drop off her daughter to school before she came to us, and after i told her the funeral home and location to contact, we found out later she had called a funeral home in Indiana!!! and they had taken his body to a sister funeral home to wait for his final transport...thankfully the funeral director from where she called reached out and that is how i found out the error, and we didn't know where they had taken the body. the actual funeral home found him the next day and got him. and these are just some of the complaints i have. do yourself a big favor and DO NOT USE THEM!
