Prior to his next day doctor's appointment, contacting insurance or going out and purchasing one... I called up Chippewa Place and asked if they had a Walker we could use. Spoke to some very nice young ladies that told me they had an extra one and he could have it. How lovely, generous, kind and caring! Picked it up shortly after and it was in remarkable condition. More than what I had in mind and it made a world of difference. They wanted nothing in return other than helping out and being wonderful people. Thank You So Very Much!

The new owner is a "for profit" LLC and claims the increase is to keep in line with 'current market rates.' In the mean time, the food services has been reduced and the quality of the food sourcing has gone to the lowest possible provider. The continental breakfast appears in advertising, but is not provided in the lease and is only a 'courtesy' from the landlord. The new, absentee land lord from NJ, also has struck out wording from the former lease which would limit incremental services charges to be passed on to the resident. They are in it for the money and residence safety and well being are not the driving concern to providing senior independent living. There are better landlords in the Cleveland metro area which will not price gouge current senior residents with indiscriminate sur charges. Chippawa Place has lost it's reputation as a quality care independent living option and is now under the Horizon umbrella of facilities.

The atmosphere is that of a home rather than of a facility. The place is immaculately clean. Meals are home-cooked and healthy. The ratio of aides to residents is much higher at Greenview than at larger facilities and so all of the residents can receive individualized, timely care. The people were sitting outside visiting and taking in the sunshine. The front desk ladies were friendly. The residents walking around said Hello. The only odor I smelled was the aroma of lunch! Around the grounds, the mostly one story resident buildings are very nice with garages. The windows appear to be the crank open kind. There are lots of trees and birds. A lot of staff were visible. The nursing staff was responsive to his every need and checked on him frequently. The pastoral care he received was equally wonderful. Sister Margaret Mary, in particular, was so warm and loving toward him, and I was touched by her kindness. I'm sure she brought him much comfort! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by how the staff took such good care of my family and I while we kept vigil in my dad's room. Between my brother, my mom and myself, we never left his side on the weekend he passed. The staff saw to it that I had a pillow and blanket to keep me comfortable while I slept there overnight, and they also brought me a phone charger when I needed it. One day, a staff member cooked my mom a grilled cheese sandwich just for her, because she knew she needed to eat. They promised us they would do anything they could for us, and they certainly did! When my dad passed away, we were all given a hug by our wonderful nurse, and given reassurance that he was no longer in pain. I could tell that one of the other nurses present was fighting back tears, which touched me, as well, knowing that I was not alone in my grief. I really just can't say enough good things about the wonderful people working there who make it their mission to provide comfort and care to their patients and their families. And the facility, itself, is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. Nobody wants to have to bring their loved one to a hospice, but if you should find yourself looking for a facility to provide palliative care for your family member, you really couldn't ask for a place better than Holy Family.
