I have an insane sweet tooth but thankfully, ROYCE exists and has a store right here in Boston. I discovered this amazing chocolate a few years back when a relative brought some home from an international trip but I never thought I'd have the chance to try it again until now. While I understand the pricing may be a little intimidating, I personally have to say that it's justified and worth it. This is probably the most velvety, richest, creamiest chocolate I've ever tasted and I will surely return to pick up some more. If you haven't picked up a box for yourself yet, just do it. I'm with some of the other reviewers regarding the customer service being hit or miss. My first visit was amazing, sales associates were super friendly and helpful. The girls were super knowledgeable and gave us samples. I stopped in last night and asked the girl who was glued to her phone some questions and she told me to read the label so I just walked out. I love the chocolate here. I'm not even a huge sweets person and I dream of Royce chocolates. I wish I could bathe in a tub full of this buttery chocolatey goodness--yes it is that delicious. My favorite is the white chocolate matcha nama chocolate. I'm so happy Boston has a location since it's a hard one to track down! The only downside to this location is the detached employee that was working the counter. We were the only customers in the store and she sat indifferently at the counter busy with her phone. The employees were very friendly and they packaged it with dry ice, since the chocolate must be stored at a certain temperature to preserve it's taste. The nama chocolates are fantastic. So rich and creamy. I find Asian desserts to be typically less sweet than American desserts. These chocolates are no exception. So it's pretty dangerous as I can eat way more pieces than normal. read more

I was introduced the chocolate during my visit to japan. It seems to be a really high end chocolate that its raw. But don't get me wrong, they do have the tastiest chocolate in the world! I don't like anything that is overly sweet, they just have the perfect amount of balance. If you are not sure what to get, they always have samples that you can try! They have many different flavor, matcha and dark chocolate are my favorite but generally people go for the regular ones and the milk chocolate. I bought one box of the Nama Chocolate "Maccha" ($18). The cashier put the box in a small cooler pouch with an ice pack so it wouldn't melt. The chocolate was very smooth with a nice matcha flavor and hint of liquor. If I ever go to Japan, I will definitely pick up more ROYCE' chocolate. read more

I'm a fan, but the chocolate here but it doesn't blow me away. The selections are nice, and the interior is SO clean, but it's SO expensive for what it's worth. I'd definitely come here if I'm ever in need of chocolate as a gift, but I don't think I'd frequent this place if I needed a quick pick-me-up. The presentation is always beautiful, and the interior is very classy and chic. A bit quiet, but perhaps that's just the atmosphere and styling of the brand. read more

I have been here twice on different occasions and both times have been very unpleasant experiences. The first time I went I was asking about one of their 5 (literally they have such a small assortment) chocolates the and the girl there knew absolutely nothing about the chocolate. She just read the title or the bar and couldn't answer anything more. Like you only have like five options there it shouldn't be that hard to know them and know them WELL. I ended up buying something there and it was good but not GREAT/worth the $36 dollars for such small quantity. The next time I went there they were out of all but one of the chocolate bars...you are a chocolate store selling only a few products and half your assortment is out of stock?? What kind of place is this??? And the lady there this time was just so oblivious and again could not answer any questions about the product. So awkward. Excellent service which to me is almost as important as what I am buying! I've always been a fan of Royce since I've had a taste of it in Japan. The chocolates are not too rich or too sweet and they melt in your mouth. And I got Petite Truffle orange last week. I was so excited to find out that Boston has a Royce shop since there is no Royce in my state. I have read some comments on here and people complained about the service but I didn't care. I was just so excited to get my favorite chocolate. The shop is clean so that was my 1 star is for. The selection are limited compared to other Royce shops. The fruit bar was what I was looking for but they sold out. I asked the girl who works there if she has more in stock she said what I saw is all they have. Then I asked if she has the sample of chocolate covered potato chips, and no was the answer. So I browsed around for a little bit to find what I want to try. I meant there were not much to choose from but I wanted to make sure that if I'm going to spend $18 for a snack, I have to like it. Then the girl asked "YOU HAVEN'T DECIDED YET?". She was basically standing there, waiting for me to buy something, leave the shop so she can sit back down. So save your time, buy it on online! read more

The truffles are amazing! I generally go for more exotic chocolate and truffle flavors but Royce's truffles are addicting. Not to mention really affordable for a high end chocolate. Only problem is they have to be refrigerated... but worth the hassle. I pick them up any time I am traveling to a city with a Royce. They provide ice packs so it works out. read more

I came here recently with my daughter to buy Nama chocolates since I've heard they are delicious. The store is small and very clean, with merchandize well organized and easily accessible. The two women behind the counter weren't very friendly. They didn't greet us when we came in, nor offered us any help. They just stood there and stared at us, which was a bit uncomfortable, to be honest. We ended up buying the mild cocoa Nama and the champagne Nama. They had some dark chocolate covered potato chips by the register for customers to try. The potato chips were pretty good. The chocolates that we bought, on the other hand, were just OK. Though lately I have been to the store 3 times in the last 2 month and they were completly out. Driving from the suburbs to downtown is not an easy thing on top of it you can't find parking and if you park in the carage it is $20 just saying not easy. How can they stay in business? Being on Boylesten street is not cheep. I guess the owner does not care. Today is hallowen and there fridge of Nama product is empty. I was not a happy cutomer. I was there Saturday and they were empty also. I was told they expecting shipment on Wensday I called 3 times and no one answered. Today Thursday Hallowen I drove downtown again and I get there and my husband said hold your emotions. They are out. I asked how can you be out? I was told your getting a shipment yesterday? First off, I really liked how clean and minimalistic the shop was. Secondly, brownie points to the store associate who was helpful and allowed me to try the nama chocolate when I was torn between buying that and another chocolate product as my mother's day gift. The chocolate was very good and creamy by the way. I loved the way it just melted in my mouth so I bought a box then and there. My purchase was then packaged into an insulated bubble mailer with an ice pack to keep the product intact then wrapped in a Royce bag with a nice bow. Taking into account of the quality of the product and service of this store, I definitely stand by the 5 stars I give them. read more
