I love the chocolate here. I'm not even a huge sweets person and I dream of Royce chocolates. I wish I could bathe in a tub full of this buttery chocolatey goodness--yes it is that delicious. My favorite is the white chocolate matcha nama chocolate. I'm so happy Boston has a location since it's a hard one to track down! The only downside to this location is the detached employee that was working the counter. We were the only customers in the store and she sat indifferently at the counter busy with her phone. Considering how much people pay for a single box of chocolate at this place, I would hope that there would at least be a low key welcoming atmosphere. read more

I'm with some of the other reviewers regarding the customer service being hit or miss. My first visit was amazing, sales associates were super friendly and helpful. The girls were super knowledgeable and gave us samples. I stopped in last night and asked the girl who was glued to her phone some questions and she told me to read the label so I just walked out. YEAH I KNOW HOW TO READ, BUT THANKS FOR THE HELP. Obviously ROYCE chocolates are phenomenal, but I'm buying chocolate not a Rolls Royce, no need to be pretentious. read more

By no means am I a chocoholic, in fact, I don't even LIKE chocolate, but I LOVE royce. It was that good, that after school, my friend and I decided to stop by the shop and buy it for ourselves. The employees were very friendly and they packaged it with dry ice, since the chocolate must be stored at a certain temperature to preserve it's taste. They let us try the Matcha nama chocolate, the chocolate is so smooth and creamy. But it is AMAZING. So I got 6 boxes form Boston store. And I will come back again!!! read more

The nama chocolates are fantastic. So rich and creamy. I find Asian desserts to be typically less sweet than American desserts. These chocolates are no exception. So it's pretty dangerous as I can eat way more pieces than normal. read more

I was introduced the chocolate during my visit to japan. It seems to be a really high end chocolate that its raw. But don't get me wrong, they do have the tastiest chocolate in the world! I don't like anything that is overly sweet, they just have the perfect amount of balance. If you are not sure what to get, they always have samples that you can try! They have many different flavor, matcha and dark chocolate are my favorite but generally people go for the regular ones and the milk chocolate. If you are in to soft rich chocolate you should definitely try it! read more

I bought one box of the Nama Chocolate "Maccha" ($18). The cashier put the box in a small cooler pouch with an ice pack so it wouldn't melt. The chocolate was very smooth with a nice matcha flavor and hint of liquor. If I ever go to Japan, I will definitely pick up more ROYCE' chocolate. read more

I love this place so much. Been wanting to try their chocolate for the longest time ever and when I found out they opened a store in Boston, my head just exploded. Their nama chocolate must be the best kind of chocolate I've ever had. It so smooth, soft and rich. And unlike other, it's not too sweet. Sure is pricey but totally worth it read more

I've heard about ROYCE' chocolate from my friend, finally get the chance to check out the place! Nice and clean store, neat! I got a box of Nama Maccha and champagne (recommended by the sales girl). It's very unique, totally different than the chocolate out there. Definitely recommend Nama Collection for the first time visit, and the staff is friendly and helpful, they will give out samples if you're bot sure for which flavor. read more

Simply delicious. Got the petite truffe chocolate. Milk chocolate blended with almond and hazelnut cream and then covered with almond crunch. Sampled the green tea which was so good and the potato chips covered in white chocolate were surprisingly delicious also! read more

I'm a fan, but the chocolate here but it doesn't blow me away. The selections are nice, and the interior is SO clean, but it's SO expensive for what it's worth. I'd definitely come here if I'm ever in need of chocolate as a gift, but I don't think I'd frequent this place if I needed a quick pick-me-up. The presentation is always beautiful, and the interior is very classy and chic. A bit quiet, but perhaps that's just the atmosphere and styling of the brand. read more

Was just here for the first time an hour ago. Never heard of it b4 until today when I was happen to go to Amorino for some gelato, seating outside and saw the sign next door saying " #howjapanmakechocolate" turn around, look inside the store and there I'm in with my ice cream cone in the hand. I have been here twice on different occasions and both times have been very unpleasant experiences. The first time I went I was asking about one of their 5 (literally they have such a small assortment) chocolates the and the girl there knew absolutely nothing about the chocolate. She just read the title or the bar and couldn't answer anything more. Like you only have like five options there it shouldn't be that hard to know them and know them WELL. I ended up buying something there and it was good but not GREAT/worth the $36 dollars for such small quantity. The next time I went there they were out of all but one of the chocolate bars...you are a chocolate store selling only a few products and half your assortment is out of stock?? What kind of place is this??? And the lady there this time was just so oblivious and again could not answer any questions about the product. So awkward. I was so excited to find out that Boston has a Royce shop since there is no Royce in my state. I have read some comments on here and people complained about the service but I didn't care. I was just so excited to get my favorite chocolate. The shop is clean so that was my 1 star is for. The selection are limited compared to other Royce shops. The fruit bar was what I was looking for but they sold out. I asked the girl who works there if she has more in stock she said what I saw is all they have. Then I asked if she has the sample of chocolate covered potato chips, and no was the answer. So I browsed around for a little bit to find what I want to try. I meant there were not much to choose from but I wanted to make sure that if I'm going to spend $18 for a snack, I have to like it. Then the girl asked "YOU HAVEN'T DECIDED YET?". She was basically standing there, waiting for me to buy something, leave the shop so she can sit back down. So save your time, buy it on online! read more

Excellent service which to me is almost as important as what I am buying! I've always been a fan of Royce since I've had a taste of it in Japan. The chocolates are not too rich or too sweet and they melt in your mouth. And I got Petite Truffle orange last week. Fragrant orange-flavored ganache dusted with cacao powder for a slightly bittersweet flavor. Amazing!!! I will come back again!!! read more

I wanted to buy chocolate as gift for Valentine's. So I took time off from work and get there. Guess what? It's not open at 12:45 pm and no sign of which so ever at all. I saw a couple of young men standing around asked them. One told me he waited from 12pm. Apparently they don't want to do business on this special day. I don't see any sign in their store or any announcement on their website. What kind of business is this? there were many customers came as me. I was so disappointed. Never come back! read more

The truffles are amazing! I generally go for more exotic chocolate and truffle flavors but Royce's truffles are addicting. Not to mention really affordable for a high end chocolate. Only problem is they have to be refrigerated... but worth the hassle. I pick them up any time I am traveling to a city with a Royce. They provide ice packs so it works out. read more

I came here recently with my daughter to buy Nama chocolates since I've heard they are delicious. The store is small and very clean, with merchandize well organized and easily accessible. The two women behind the counter weren't very friendly. They didn't greet us when we came in, nor offered us any help. They just stood there and stared at us, which was a bit uncomfortable, to be honest. We ended up buying the mild cocoa Nama and the champagne Nama. They had some dark chocolate covered potato chips by the register for customers to try. The potato chips were pretty good. The chocolates that we bought, on the other hand, were just OK. I prefer Teuscher champagne traffles over Royce. read more

Okay her we go. I got to try royce chocolate and I fell in love. I am not saying there chocolat is not good.. Though lately I have been to the store 3 times in the last 2 month and they were completly out. Driving from the suburbs to downtown is not an easy thing on top of it you can't find parking and if you park in the carage it is $20 just saying not easy. How can they stay in business? Being on Boylesten street is not cheep. I guess the owner does not care. Today is hallowen and there fridge of Nama product is empty. I was not a happy cutomer. I was there Saturday and they were empty also. I was told they expecting shipment on Wensday I called 3 times and no one answered. Today Thursday Hallowen I drove downtown again and I get there and my husband said hold your emotions. They are out. I asked how can you be out? I was told your getting a shipment yesterday? I was told they did not get it. Very desopointed. The owner better get his or her act together or don't do business and get out of Boston. read more

First off, I really liked how clean and minimalistic the shop was. Secondly, brownie points to the store associate who was helpful and allowed me to try the nama chocolate when I was torn between buying that and another chocolate product as my mother's day gift. The chocolate was very good and creamy by the way. I loved the way it just melted in my mouth so I bought a box then and there. My purchase was then packaged into an insulated bubble mailer with an ice pack to keep the product intact then wrapped in a Royce bag with a nice bow. Taking into account of the quality of the product and service of this store, I definitely stand by the 5 stars I give them. read more

We were there the day after valentines and their valentine cubes were buy 3 get 2 free. Great chocolate. I was so excited when They open up a location in Boston! Disappointed in the service. Sometimes I would come in and see no sales associates and sometimes the doors are locked. I was told there was only one sales associate working so when she leaves for lunch, they close the place down for an hour during their open hours. read more

Burnt Caramel: It was my first time seeing "burnt caramel," which is essentially sugar caramelized to a higher temperature than caramel, resulting in a darker color and a richer, more intense bitterness. While I love bitterness, I felt it was a bit too much. Most importantly, the ice cream was noticeably stickier than the others, and the plastic scoop was too soft, making it difficult to scoop.
