Ok, so I meant to write this review a while ago, but I was very impressed with Roy's service. About two months ago, some d-bag cut the ignition wires on my 15' R6. Not only did Roy load up my bike and take it to the shop for $40, (tow truck is $125) he did a full service on my bike for $90, and it rides better than ever. Roy's is the ONLY place I will ever take my motorcycles to be serviced or repaired. Extremely fair prices, super knowledgeable and you can tell he really loves what he does. I never worry that I am getting ripped off or being up-sold on a service that I don't need. For a very small fee he will even pick up your bike and deliver it when it's done- no need to arrange for transportation to get it worked on. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! I've gone to Roy's for a few years now for routine and non-routine maintenance on my Suzuki Vstrom. Every time he's gone the extra mile to make sure everything works right and is safe. From new tires, chains, and fluid changes, he's done great work. It's consistent and all at a fair price. Once he even noticed a blinker that was cracked and simply fixed it just because (at no extra charge). If you want good service and a good price, I recommend his shop highly. read more

Remember the soup episode in Seinfeld where the guy was telling you how you have to order your soup, well I found the motorcycle shop similar to that. I called to schedule a 10K service and tire replacement of my motorcycle. When I told the owner that I will be bringing in my own tires, with a condescending tone said to me "Do you buy food at a grocery store and bring it to a restaurant?". I didn't know what to say but I explained to him that this is a style of tires I liked. He said in a condescending tone again, "No, I wont do it. Nope, no, wont do it". Exact words. Basically, if its not according to his way of riding a motorcycle, he would not install it. I get it, you feel you are inclined to think that you have to have a cookie cutter motorcycle that should only use stock parts. I have been riding for 20 yrs. An experienced rider. Do custom work on motorcycles but I have never seen a business tell me what I can and cannot do to my own motorcycle in a manner that is insulting. You mentioned that you compare your shop to a restaurant, I think I get better customer service and professionalism in a restaurant than yours. I own my own business and I will never even say that to my customers. I will always advise, not enforce. I wish you find peace and kindness bec. you obviously need it. You just taught me how to easily lose a potential long time customer that spends exuberant amounts of money on labor work since I have a collection of motorcycles. My intent was to help small businesses near my neck of the woods. I gave that business to someone else. I regularly go to Old town Newhall, your shop is officially an eyesore to me now. read more

Roy is the best motorcycle mechanic in town. I've brought my Honda VT1100C to him a few times for both routine and non-routine services. Rebuilding forks, new tires, oil changes. .. He's always done a great job at a fair price. Recently some bozo backed into my bike and the whole front end was tweeked out of alignment. Handlebars, forks , and front wheel were all sideways. Took my Triumph Rocket here to have a rear tire changed. Yes, the bike has a wide tire and is a bit different. Long story short Roy had a bit of difficulty changing it and scratched the rim a bit. Seems like the reviews are more for standard everyday bikes, would not recommend bringing anything 'different' here. Roy seemed nice and knowledgeable, however can only give 2 stars... if you can't do the job there's no shame or fault in declining. And I have pet peeves like... put valve stem caps back on the tire when you are finished... details make the difference. read more

Brought my old xr600 here for some electrical work. Roy is the only shop that would touch the bike since he knew more about older dual sports. I just love going there and listening to his stories. I recently bought an '01 XR400 that needed some work, and took it into Roy's for servicing. The carburetor was all screwed up (would you believe a wood screw was used by a previous owner instead of a machine screw! among other things). Roy and John went above and beyond to save my carb, making it like new again, and all for a very reasonable price, putting in more time on it than he charged. Roy also made some excellent recommendations on some new tires that are awesome. They have definitely earned my future business! I highly recommend this shop! read more

Just read the review from the lady that was trying to pawn her bikes. I have known and done business with Roy for many years. Originally my wife and I first came to know him when he worked at a local motorcycle shop. We started taking our repair and maintenance work to him after the owner of the dealership allowed his son to run it into the ground. We have never known Roy to do anything but provide extrardinary service at very fair and reasonable prices. WHAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME with this woman's review was why she didn't sale her bikes to a private party to begin with. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to understand that you can sale for a lot more to a private party than if you pawn your bikes. I know Roy well enough to know he is extremely experienced with motor cycles, and he can pretty much nail down a problem, or establish a condition of any moter cycle by just observing the bike and asking a couple of questions. I would expect that the opinion of condition this lady got was worth what she paid for it. NOTHING! Pawn shops make very high risk loans, and have to lay out hard cash for these loans. When their customers default, they must be able to sale at a profit. Only reason anyone would pawn their goods instead of selling out right would be they needed immediate cash, or couldn't qualify for a loan from an established bank or other reputable lender such as a credit union. read more

Roy is the best; have been taking my bike to him for a year now and has always been very helpful and reasonable pricing...

He's lazy, rude, and a true armchair mechanic. Likes to talk a ton and then ask when he can start charging you for taking his time, no he was not joking, and i was doing was sitting there listening to him drone on about nonsense that nobody cares about, and all he does is sit there and watch YouTube videos of mini sailboat racing. He expects people to know everything he's talking about and gets frustrated when you don't. My friend just needed his chain tightened and lubed. "Hey it would be great if you could just tighten the chain and lube it real quick, we're in a hurry" this is something I could have done easily in 20 minutes, but I didn't have a stand for my friends bike. Roy replies "no I can't tighten the chain, but I can adjust it, and I can't do it real quick because we're busy. If you want me to get it done today, it would be 3 or 4 hours and with parts and labor it will be around $160" as he sits in his chair and watches videos while the other mechanic does all the work. I already didn't like him and his work ethic and that just pushed me over the edge. I've brought multiple bikes to him and every time hasn't fixed them or something else went wrong. Also after not being able to fix my bike and admitting so, he still expected payment which he didn't receive. He upcharges, making everything sound more difficult then it is so he can charge you more. Definitely takes advantage of people who ride motorcycles but can't work on them. He's unprofessional, makes you feel like an idiot because he corrects you on literally everything, impatient, and just plain not a very good guy. Go literally anywhere else. It's mind boggling to me that he has 5 stars. Maybe because all his customers haven't tried anywhere else? read more

I always had fear that I was not disengaging enough to shift and so I customarily pull the snot out of the lever with 4 fingers before moving the shifter, haha. Went there to get a new rear tire, and they noticed my chain was failing, and had a great chain in stock. My bike was so much smoother after they replaced the chain. I have a 2002 Hayabusa (GSX 1300). I brought it Roy's Cycle Service for a new rear tire, front tire, chain, and Service. When I got my bike back THE NEXT DAY it rode like a totally different bike. Roy's went above and beyond the normal service to make sure that my bike was tuned...lubed...and adjusted to perform better than when I bought it. The service was fast, professional, and friendly.
