WARNING -- SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD -- ZERO STARS…read more I brought my 1965 Chevrolet Impala (a classic collector vehicle) to Mavis Tires & Brakes in Hoschton, GA around May 1, 2026 for a complete suspension job. They also installed brand new Goodyear General tires at the same time. I paid approximately $1,800-$2,000 for this work. Less than 500 MILES later I noticed my tires were toeing out and feathering badly. I put the vehicle on a lift and was absolutely shocked at what I found: -- Tie rod sleeve on driver side LOOSE with STRIPPED OUT nuts and bolts -- Outer tie rod bushing on passenger side DAMAGED -- Both upper ball joint bushings on BOTH sides DAMAGED -- Sway bar bolt on passenger side BUSTED -- Brand new Goodyear General tires DESTROYED from severe feathering The steering was so loose the vehicle darted from one side of the road to the other. This vehicle was NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. At highway speed I could have lost complete steering control and caused a serious or fatal accident -- not just to myself but to every other driver on the road. I took the vehicle to a second reputable shop who confirmed every single finding AND discovered additional problems Mavis created. That shop tightened the sleeves and made the vehicle road worthy enough to drive home -- AND THEY DID IT ALL FOR FREE. A shop that had absolutely nothing to do with this situation showed more professionalism, integrity, and decency than Mavis who took my $1,800-$2,000 and left me with a dangerously unsafe classic vehicle. I have photos, video, and written documentation of all defects. I have witnesses. The repairs are STILL NOT FULLY RESOLVED. I am now demanding full compensation from Mavis corporate to have this work completed correctly at a shop of my choosing. I will NEVER allow Mavis Hoschton to touch my vehicle again. When I brought this to Mavis attention the assistant manager was dismissive, questioned why I was just bringing it in, and showed complete indifference to a serious safety hazard that his shop created. Mavis took zero responsibility and offered nothing. IF THIS IS NOT PROPERLY RESOLVED THEY WILL BE SPEAKING TO MY ATTORNEY. I HAVE PHOTOS, VIDEO, DOCUMENTATION, AND WITNESSES. Do NOT bring your vehicle -- especially a classic or collector car -- to this location. What Mavis Hoschton did to my irreplaceable 1965 Impala was negligent, dangerous, and could have been fatal.

I looked on online for a brake repair shop in Athens (thinking we could make it that far). God had other plans as Spikes kept populating (way closer). We called and they said they could get us in and out same day. Once we arrived they found a spot for us to park the travel trailer and even let us run an extension cord to assist with power. We had our 14 year old cat with us so having the RV powered for air and comfort was a blessing. They got the parts ordered, kept us abreast with all issues found and had us back on the road approximately 4 hours later. They went way above and beyond providing snacks, rotating the tires and even cleaning the floor mats! Great people and awesome service. Thank you Spikes!

Alexis Auto Repair was recommended by a friend, and I can see why. When the repair ended up being more complicated than originally estimated, they were flexible on the additional cost - which they certainly didn't have to do! - but I appreciated the courtesy and open communication.

Alex's Mechanics helped me out in a pinch, so I wanted to leave a detailed, honest review --…read moreespecially for anyone who, like me, is hesitant about using a mobile mechanic or someone outside of a big-name shop. I had never used a mobile mechanic before, and usually only go with people I personally know or large companies. I was cautious, but Alex's location on Google Maps was nearby, so I initially reached out. At the time, I couldn't get through, so I ended up going to another shop that diagnosed the issue -- but quoted me an outrageous price and told me it would take nearly a week to fix. Later, Alex followed up with a phone call and voicemail. I had already dropped the car off elsewhere but was still checking other shops for faster turnaround and better pricing. While I was trying to text the original shop, I accidentally messaged Alex instead -- which turned out to be a lucky mistake. He offered a far more reasonable quote, was understanding about my situation (I needed the car to get back to a outstate job site), and worked with me on timing. He had the job done in around 4 hours from his intial predication that he gave at the start -- right on target with the estimate he gave in my eye. Despite doing me a favor by fitting me in, he kept me updated every step of the way, even letting me know when a part he expected wasn't needed. He adjusted the final price accordingly -- since the original quote was based on a misdiagnosis from the first shop, which assumed my model had a part it didn't. Alex clearly knows his stuff. He's got the tools, the experience (over a decade in traditional shops), and the professionalism. I really appreciated his honesty, transparency, and speed. I'm definitely going to him again.
