The first thing was how long the wait in the check in line was because there was only one person checking in everyone in attendance. Got to the counter and was told even though I brought our own insurance cards as directed to avoid their insurance fee I now couldn't use my own and MUST PAY FOR THEIRS. Quick $50 up charge. One good thing was I booked for 8 laps and they kindly let us choose 2 vehicles, I also paid for the video and photo package. In the first car, the Lamborghini Huracan, my son went with instructor Chris which was a great experience. However, at the end of the first 4 laps, the instructor realized the camera was never recording so he gave him 2 extra laps.. this was considerate however I did pay for 4 laps to be recorded not 2. After leaving the first car, instead of letting Chris take him straight into the 2nd car, they made us sit down and wait for others who came after us to go instead. At some point we got tired of waiting and walked over to the table to question the wait and that's when he was given a different instructor for the second car. The second experience was 4 laps with instructor Matt in the Porsche gt3rs. How my son explained it to me, and what I observed in the video, was how it seemed like more of a driving lesson than experience. The whole time it was just confusing driving instructions from Matt for a simple 4 laps and this took away all the fun of the "experience." Now in a situation where my son was anticipating this experience for months, he walked away upset and annoyed after those last 4laps. We did speak to a manager before we left, and he explained that the difference in the 2 experiences was because Matt was "actually doing his job and being stern" because of the way the 2nd car drives unlike Chris because he was more lenient and relaxed and that is why the outcomes were different. Although he offered my son some free laps in any car of his choice at this point he was already upset and wanted to leave. Overall, a lot of things could and should have been handled a lot better to make the day go better as expected.

The Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience has been best I've had to date. It was my first time on dirt. I chose the Sprint Car in the form of the World of Outlaws winged car. There were about 8 people in my session which I thought to be an appropriate class size. There were other car choices including Late Model, Modifieds, and something they call an L-Mod which is a smaller car with a powerful motorcycle engine. The day started out with registration and then the "chalk talk" where they went over safety, track procedures, and hints on how to get around the track. Then we put on our racing suits and helmets and had photos taken car side. A staff member buckled me in, familiarized me with the controls and switches and gave me additional instruction. We had ear phone pads stuffed in our helmets so we could take direction from the instructor/spotter. When on track, there was one other student so you didn't have to worry about traffic. Now what separates the Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience from the rest, this was not the typical lead-follow racing class experience. I had total control over how fast or slow I wanted to go. I had the instructor in my ear to guide me. I went as fast as I felt comfortable. I did get sideways in the corners and it was manageable the way they had the cars set up. To me this was very exciting! When i was done, there was no wiping the smile off my face. If you have any inclination to experience what it is like to drive a race car on a real track, this is best program around that I've experienced. I highly recommend it!

Nice that we have a raceway in our backyard. Easy to from the LIE. Parking on a grassy field. Tickets were available for $40 cash only which moved relatively quick, but advanced tickets can be purchased online. It is all bleacher seating, no stairs. If you want to avoid debris, I recommend sitting closer to mid to upper levels. Maybe a pair of glasses and a cap to shield the eyes. Lots of exhaust and burning rubber. There were several races which were fun to watch which included the figure 8 and the trailer race (there were boats and jet skis on trailers!). The main feature was the school bus demolition derby which was a hoot. They would back into one another and the last one standing wins. There are concession and merchandise stands if you wanted to pick up something. It took quite a while to leave the field because it all converged to the main road. Worth trying at least once if you're a racing fan.

I felt my back and my neck being thrown in many directions on one ride. It's fun but I'm not doing it again. Some rides are closed. Some snack stands are open not all of them.
