It's directly next to Sephora. -That's convenient. You have to get buzzed in and then take the elevator up. It's a new space and it's quite nice. They offer many packages depending on your hair. As to not demean the styling service, the blowout was terrific. Stephanie even upsold me on a brush. I love the brush, however, I am knocking down 2 stars for the service on the back end by Lisa. My 3rd blowout in my package of 3 was not applied, and I was fully charged for a blowout as if I had not purchased the package. I have been in constant contact for three weeks providing my order information, including a copy of my package purchase and past service dates, without resolution. I don't think I've ever had a more horrible experience at a salon in my life. For over $800 for half a head of extensions, you'd think you would get to experience a nice service. Instead, I was rushed through, the hair wash was awful. My shirt was soaked, water splashed all over my face and in my ears. Then the stylist poked me in the eye with her nail not once but twice. No one contacted me about color matching my hair ahead of time or asking me to come in early. The stylist was freaking out on her phone all nervous about having to go down to pick up the hair delivery. When it came it was jet black and my hair is dark brown. It was hard to tell with the lighting in the room so I will have to dye my hair at home. Never again will I ever return or recommend. read more

My experience with RPZL was not one I can recommend. TLDR version: This business seems friendly and a tad aggressive before they get your money, but once they have it you are not relevant and they don't care if the job was done well. I had extensions for a short time, which ended up ripping out and destroying my natural hair. The owner was unresponsive and unhelpful in the process. I was excited to get keratin extensions and booked with their "top stylist". From the start, a few things were not great, but I rolled with it. 1. The color did not match my hair despite sending photos ahead of time. I was told to "tone it myself". 2. I booked a half head which I thought was enough for my thin hair. I was upsold to buy the full set for $1000+ upon arrival. Half was used and the stylist appeased me by saying I could keep the rest for the next appt. However, when I returned for them after using the restroom, I was told they were "thrown out". 3. I am not fussy about salon experiences. I expect average service at high turnover place. However this was an uncomfortable, unfriendly experience. They stylist was noticeably condescending as if I didn't know anything about hair or what I wanted bc I was new to keratin. At the end, she was weirdly pushy about the Venmo tip and hovered over me until I sent it which made me uneasy. (I always tip) I still was happy to have my extensions and wasn't fussed about the experience. The texture was unruly when I left but I figured I could fix at home. After leaving, I texted the stylist a simple question and didnt respond, despite being very responsive pre appt. Within 2 weeks my hair was very frizzy. They were supposedly remy hair but the texture felt synthetic. When it got unmanageable I emailed the owner for advice. I also expressed concern that a few extensions fell out in the first two week, taking my real hair with them. She offered no advice, but said it must be "my fault because no one complains about frizzy extensions" (clearly is not true based on other reviews). The suggestion was that I come in to get it styled. I returned despite living far away, was treated like an annoyance; the stylist said the only solution was to cut the frizzy extensions. I left with hair that was 4 inches shorter and the same length as my natural hair, completely defeating the purpose of $1000 extensions. I asked to replace the few that fell out ; she said that it was normal to lose a few but couldn't replace them because she had none on hand. She confirmed i was caring for them properly. Essentially I drove 4 hours for a 10 minute appointment and left with a lot less hair. Upon following up with the owner she said she couldn't do anything and I should just take them out since they were "almost ready to be removed anyway". (It was a few weeks in and these are meant to last 3months+) A few weeks later after 15-20 fell out and ripped more of my hair, I reached out again to Lisa and essentially asked if they could just take them out. I got no response. I at least expected they would take them out for me but they still charge $220 for removal. I went elsewhere to get them removed and the stylist was appalled. She explained the bonds were way too large/heavy for my thin hair ,too close together, and RPZL should have fixed it immediately after the first fell out. It took hours to get them removed since they had started to mat. I left that appointment with about half of my natural hair and really devastated. I obviously did not count on losing my hair in this process and now have bald patches and broken hair all over my head. It will take years to grow back. No one gets extensions because they have hair to lose. For now I'm using luxy clip ins and super happy with the texture. This is not a business I would revisit or recommend to anyone. I'm sure they treat their high profile clients better, but normal clients its horrendous. The owner clearly goes AWOL whenever people raise concerns. It's a very unprofessional response when people are paying thousands of dollars for a service. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!! I had a terrible experience at this sham of a business. I booked an updo for an event. I corresponded multiple times via text (iMessage specifically) with Lisa Richards from the salon about my appointment, the location, etc. When I went in for the service, there were some stylists working but no management or front desk. My "stylist" washed and dried my hair and then I showed her a photo of what I wanted. It's attached. It's a romantic, loose bun. She got to work. Immediately, I was concerned. I could tell from looking straight on at the mirror that whatever she was doing was a hot mess and not at all what I wanted. It was lopsided and messy from the front. I kept asking her to let me see what she was doing in the back as I had a sense we needed to regroup and start over, but she insisted I just let her keep going. Multiple times I pointed to random bulges on the side of my head and asked her what it was and she just kept adding more and more pins. You can see from the pictures that at no point did she even create a bun shape. Hanging down on one side of my head there is something circular sort of resembling a bun... but why is it on the side? What shape is the hairdo I got? It's like a messy beehive? It is so terrible. I knew how bad it was while it was happening and when it was done, but the stylist had made it clear that she didn't have time to fix it and there was no management, front desk or other staff there for me to discuss with. I just had to walk out dissatisfied. When I got back to the hotel and met up with family and friends, everyone broke out laughing at how bad it was. I immediately had to take it out and was forced to wear my hair in a ponytail for my event as I didn't have time to do anything else. Within an hour of the end of my appointment, I texted Lisa Richards in the text thread and said I was completely dissatisfied with my service and requested a refund. I sent a whole bunch of photos of my hair. I have texted and called multiple times and have been ignored - the business won't communicate with me. How gross and unprofessional. This place was a strong 5 stars until they moved to their new location - now within a different hair salon. It's still great - but I just preferred the original location. I also liked the products at the old spot better, but whatevs. I'm still a huge fan and will continue to go back for blow outs often. Dori & Stephanie = the best. I have a LOT of long, thick hair, and both of them can give me an epic blow out in 30 mins or less. Great things they do that all blow out spots should copy: - Appts available for 7am = genius. I've been going to RPZL for about 3 years, and couldn't be happier about how my hair looks and how well the extensions hold up. They've given me amazing volume, length, (my real hair is also finally growing!) and hold style longer than my natural hair ever would, and most importantly, RPZL does it at much more affordable price than other NYC stylists. Janeaa is my go-to stylist who is the best and consistently has amazing placement, is incredibly efficient, and she styles them so natural to my real hair. The price tag (especially if they have a promotion going on at the time) is a lot less than what I was paying before, and they last longer. I first got tape-in extensions before RPZL because my hair was pretty damaged, stopped growing, and I missed my long hair. Unfortunately the price tag was about $1,200+/set and retape was at least $800, so it became too expensive to maintain. I saw RPZL on a taxi TV in 2015, and decided to check it out since it seemed more affordable and the reviews were pretty good. I've been sold ever since! The hair quality is great, which my other hair stylists confirmed, and if you take good care of them they can last well past 8 weeks. I also brought my sister here to get clip ins for her wedding and she loved them and still uses them for special occasions. read more

My advice is to not come to RPZL for extensions if you have platinum hair color. They will not be able to match your color and send you out the door with the wrong color, telling you to tone the extensions yourself. I have heard about this place, so I went to book an appointment to see that they had a Groupon for extensions and a blowout. I decided why not, I was in the market for extensions anyways and thought it would be great to actually get a professional color match me rather than take a guess on the internet. When I called the front desk to make an appointment to ensure they knew I had the Groupon (as I know sometimes places get weird about those) he told me that I would not need a consultation first as they had a good stock of shades in the back. When I came in for my appointment, my stylist was very nice. She brought out two shades a brassy blonde and an ashy blonde.... I am definitely an ashy blonde. When she went to the back and got the ashy blonde extensions package, I could tell she was even second guessing because she asked the stylist next to us if this was the right packaging because the shades looked different. Anyways, she put the extensions in and said they were a bit darker but blended well and I could lighten them up with some purple shampoo. I could see there was a difference and should have spoke up, but I didn't and just said okay thank you and since I already pre paid on the Groupon - I just left a tip. (I should have spoken up right then and there) I was completely upset when I got home and couldn't believe I just paid $200 for extensions that when I got outside in the light looked like a completely different shade. Due to this I called where the receptionist told me that I had to come back in, in order for them to be able to give me the correct color. I explained my apartment was in Astoria and it wasn't convenient and that I had to call back with when I could come. When I called back the male receptionist answered, I explained I just called and what was going on and I wanted to come back in today and his response was "Oh okay....." to then putting me on hold for 5 minutes. The receptionist who I spoke to moments before got back on the phone and I told her I would be back in an hour and she said great see you soon. When I got back in, the stylist who helped me, brought me to the back area and told me that there was no other shades they would be able to swap out my extensions for. She understood it was brassy and gave me recommendations on toners I could use to brighten the extensions. So after being told on the phone they would fix it and having me take another 40 minute subway ride back, I arrived to just be told there was nothing they could do and leaving with the same extensions I was just upset with. The stylist was very nice, but overall I wish I never bought that Groupon causing me to pre-pay and wish I would have had a consultation to tell me they had no shade for me. I came here for a regular blowout on a Friday after work and it was ahhh-mazing! I was searching for an alternative to the Dry Bar since the last few times I've been there I haven't been pleased (on many levels - product, customer service). This place was close to where I lived and seemed really cool so I gave it a shot. I loved! The space is gorgeous - sleek and open. Everything was great all around - reception, consultation, and the final result! I wanted looser casual/beachy curls and I felt like my stylist really listened to me. I wish I could remember her name because she was fantastic! I was offered a complimentary drink and was in and out quickly, but not rushed in any way.
