First and last time at any Drybar. I went in with a valid gift card (with proof of purchase and available balance) and was told their system "wasn't working." Then they said my card wasn't valid, charged my personal card twice, and assured me it would be fixed immediately. I made them aware I had a bus to catch, yet the delays caused me to miss it. Hours later, they left me a voicemail saying the gift card still "would not work" and have ignored my nonstop calls since. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Terrible customer service from start to finish. Worst Drybar experience ever -- avoid at all costs. read more

The front desk person was super nice. They don't let you bring your own shampoo, and they were very rude about it with a lot of attitude. Had they politely said this is our policy I'm really sorry, and not been rude I wouldn't have left a review. There are much better places in midtown for a blowout that will be kind. Nice experience at Drybar! The location is located in the basement of the building, so you will not have cell service, but luckily they provided free wifi to use. The salon had movies playing while you were getting your hair done (Devil Wears Prada, Legally Blonde)! Only unfortunate part was my hair did not hold for more than a few hours. I had a great first experience at this Drybar! I needed a blowout before a special dinner and the service was fast. This blowout lasted 5+ days before my head showed any signs of grease, and the curls stayed in as well. Although it was pricey, I'd deff come back for another blowout! read more

I've been going to Drybar for years (since 2011 at least when I lived in Los Angeles) and I've been to so many different Drybars and this was definitely one of the worst blowouts I've ever received. My hair looked so weird and I had to go straight to a work meeting after which I was three minutes late for since my appointment started exactly 15 minutes late. What a nightmare. And it wasn't just me, the hair or the woman who got her hair done before me by the same stylist--also looked terrible and I honestly would have asked for a different stylist had I not been in such a hurry. This is my first time visiting Drybar and to be honest, the experience was worse than I expected. Wait time: The WAIT TIME was a major problem. I made my appointment at 1pm on Sunday afternoon. And i arrive there 5-7 min earlier. The staff there told me the situation and offer me a $10 dollar discount after i waited for almost 20 min. IN TOTAL I WAITED FOR 40 MIN to get my blowout! Blowout service: The stylist was very nice and quality-wise i'm pretty satisfied with my blowout. But he didn't really dry my hair completely and the hair closer to my neck and the ones inside were still wet. I also asked for scalp massage but I don't think it was as good as I expected it should be (since the scalp massage should be one of their star service according to the website) Tips: If you want a thorough massage i would just recommend a Japanese salon, the price may even be lower and some Japanese salons also offer free drinks (tea/water, etc.) since it's a salon, they definitely are good at blowout too. Overall experience: I'm very unsatisfied with the wait time. I didn't get informed by anyone to expect such a long wait time. It would be better if they just set appointment time every other 45-1 hour and ask the customers to check in 5-10 min early prior to the appointment. While I was happy with my blowout overall, the overall experience was definitely "meh". I had never been to Drybar before and based on this experience, I won't be going back. When I checked into the front desk the receptionist didn't explain anything to me and sort of hustled me along which was fine, expect that she kept talking to 2-3 women sitting on the floor behind her and didn't care about me at all. I found my way into the waiting area but it was full of other women so I didn't get a seat. The waiting room was quite dirty and disheveled with hair on the floor, empty champagne bottles, and other women dressing themselves to get ready for their holiday parties. It wasn't chaos, but Drybar felt very much like a place that packs in a lot of customers in a quick way. Maybe it was because it was the holidays? I liked my hairstylist. She was nice and was very gentle with my hair. However, I was getting a blowout for my holiday party so my makeup was previously completed and I was already dressed. When my stylist was shampoo/conditioning my hair, I got pretty wet on my neck which she didn't bother to notice and while my hair was getting dried, she kept slapping my wet hair in my face which messed up my makeup a little. Not a huge deal but it was pretty annoying. On the way out the same receptionist was still talking to her 2-3 friends and I was standing their waiting for about two minutes before I asked to pay for the service. ....Meh. read more

This place was a great find and a surprise! I am used to the Drybars of DMV area which all have poor customer service and make you regret going back each time so I was ready for the same treatment when I walked in. Instead, I was welcomed by a very friendly hostess, who, even though I was late to my appointment, scheduled me for a new one in a few hours and the smiling faces continued when I was back for my blowdry. My stylist was absolutely lovely , and I got compliments about my hair all day. (I always get the Mai Tai and this is the first time it looked this great!) I went last night for the first time and had a superb experience! I can't remember my stylist name (Maria? Marla?) but I definitely tipped her 20% because it was so GOOD. I had an 8:30 appointment before an event and left feeling like a million bucks. So glad I purchased a Barfly membership and can't wait to come back. I have fairly long, thick hair and sometimes experience stylists who seem challenged by the volume or length, but this lady was superb and skilled. The stylist performed a service that I did not want done which not only left my hair looking terrible but actually cost more than the service I had booked. When I checked out, they charged me for the more expensive service and tried to say that it wasn't a mistake because that's what I had booked in their system. I figured I must have somehow booked incorrectly and paid for the service but found the confirmation email a few minutes later and showed it to the receptionist realizing they'd just lied to me. They then claimed it was impossible to refund the money since my card had already been charged (another lie). I will be calling my credit card company to report this "business". Frankly, I would have given this place 1 star even without the sketchy business practices. My hair is pretty easy to style they somehow managed to remove all the texture and volume from it even though the only thing I asked them to do was curl it. The staff was also rude, demeaning and really rough with my hair. Save yourself the stress and do your hair at home or go to a real salon. read more

OMG! Nathaniel has such a gift. I was watching him do the hair of the girl before me and thinking: "I hope I get him!" And I did! I told him in general what I like and he gave me what I wanted, but way better than I could imagine! He's got an artistic eye and a huge talent. Nathaniel probably gets booked solid with clients but I know I come to Yelp to find the best stylists so look no further - Nathaniel is your guy! The only downside to this location is tha I had to wait half an hour. Normally I would subtract a star for this but not today since Nathaniel gets about ten stars. :) Update: I've been here a few times now and the styles are always great. However, they always run late. It's not the place to go if you are in a hurry - I would book out a half hour before you normally would. One time I waited 40 minutes (!) but the average is like 20 minutes late. It's too bad because they do a fantastic job; but I've been here enough now to recognize it's pretty much an everyday occurrence. Still great hair, tho. read more

There's nothing I love more than an excuse to treat yo' self. I've been meaning to give Dry Bar a try after hearing rave reviews from friends, but didn't have an occasion to get my hair done. When I walked in it was pretty busy, but the receptionist was super quick to check me in and take my drink order. Complimentary wine? Score. After a 10 minute wait I was whisked away to dry bar heaven. After flipping through the look book we decided the Cosmo Tai would look best on my long bob. I was digging the experience up until the point when she turned my chair around for the reveal. My Cosmo Tai looked nothing like the picture. No worries though, mistakes happen! I politely asked if she had time to add some more curls like we discussed. But after asking three times and seeing no change I admitted defeat, thanked her, and paid. In all honesty, it seemed like my stylist didn't know how to replicate the styles or use the tools properly. Which isn't a big deal, I just would've kept it simple and picked a straight blow out. Instead of walking out of the salon feeling confident and refreshed, I left disappointed. Thankfully I had enough time to run home and fix my hair before heading to my event. I visited this location while I was on a birthday trip in NYC in July. My husband booked me an appt with this location because he knew I'm a dry bar junkie. It wouldn't be my birthday without my birthday blowout. But sad to say, coming here on my birthday was one of the worse experiences for me while in NYC. When I arrived, they were pretty busy at the front. So I wasn't greeted right away. No big deal. I waited about 15 mins until I got started. The stylist immediately asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. I told her, my hair is longer (pass shoulders) So I would just love some volumn, loose beachy curls and I'm happy. I usually get the Cosmo tai I said. She immediately replied with "you are asking for the impossible.." in a rude tone looking at by hair. Touching my hair.... "you CAN'T do that with your hair, no way" "You can't get that with your hair" she assured me. But I told her I get my hair blowout Weekly from drybar for the last 6 yrs and it is possible. I was hoping for a great birthday appointment. But her demeanor was so negative. So I asked her if she was having a long day. She said, "nope! Just started" At this point, I was REALLY thinking about switching to another stylist. This girl clearly DID NOT enjoy her job. And I refuse to let someone ruin my birthday. Long story short, right after she washed my hair. I went up to the front and ask for another stylist. I told them what happened. No apologizes from the staff. And they reluctantly gave me another stylist (who was much nicer). The girl who was originally worked on my hair ended up right next to my chair. So she was making rude comments the whole time since I asked for another stylist. I literally spent all entire birthday blowout listening to her BS. I WILL NOT ever return to this location. And to be quite honest.... the concept of Dry bar is great. But their customer service just isn't what it used to be. I visited more location across the US, so I go to other locations as well. They had to charge her for an "up-tini" (whatever that is lol) the braids came undone very quickly and she had loose hair in a couple hours. $110 for that seemed unreasonable. I went here for a blowout the other day. It wasn't my first time at Drybar, but it was my first time at this location. The location itself is kind of tough to find. It's in the basement of the Parker Hotel, so you have to go in the hotel and take the elevator down. Since it's in a basement, the location is less than ideal. No windows obviously, and there's no cell service. The staff was friendly when I got there. They had complimentary mimosas and wine while you waited. My wait times at Drybar have been all over the place, but I actually didn't have to wait terribly long this time - about ten minutes. My stylist was friendly and did a great job with my super thick hair. She was a little rough, so it wasn't particularly relaxing, but it was a good way to treat myself. read more

I think this place was OK. The receptionists are really nice and I like the fact that they serve you wine or champagne while waiting.. however the wait time is RIDICULOUS. I booked an appointment for 5:30 and was greeted by my hairdresser at 6:30!!!!! I had dinner reservations and a boyfriend waiting, he was not pleased! To be honest, was the wait worthwhile? Hello, I'm Liza and I just wanted to share my experience with you about getting service last Saturday (June 4th) in your salon - Midtown - Parker. I booked an appointment for myself and a friend, so we were very surprised to be seated in different parts of the space. When I asked the hairdresser if we could move, as this is part of the experience, he said spots are assigned to stylists, not clients. Huh, I thought I'd sit with my bestie. Fernando put tons of hair products in my hair and started brushing it, without asking. I wanted very relaxed curls and he had to redo it three times. My hair ended up straight and dirty. It's just to be clear - I have very "easy" hair with natural curl and volume, so any hairstyle lasts forever. The person seemed in a hurry to do the colleague's hair, because they were discussing it. Things got even worse when I went to see my friend. I knew she brought a picture of the expected hairstyle, but she got something else. There is no volume & the curls are puddley with an enormous amount of products. As a result we both ran to the shower and fixed the messes on our heads. We felt like the stylists just copied and pasted without listening to us. My experience has been awful. I didn't want to lose my temper and mess up the mood in the salon, but I think you should know about the approach they promote there. I DMed in there Instagram yesterday and it's been 15 hours without any reply or even acknowledgement. Overall: don't do it. read more

Not the best experience, not warm or welcoming. Noah was my hair stylist and gave me a Cosmo look. I left looking decent but when I got home my curls were out of place. She didn't spend enough time smoothing the hair out and was quick to clip them to retain their shape. Everyone else there was given champagne and no one ever asked me if I wanted anything to drink, even water. The stylist ignored what I wanted (a normal part of the left side of my head like I asked for) and when I asked to fix it after she refused to blow dry the fixed part to make it stay. Now my head feels weird and hurts because it is parted against the blow dry. And the pieces keep moving back to how she did it. That's why you need to blow dry it into place. She also kept trying to push a flatiron on me despite me saying I didn't want it. It was a weird and uncomfortable experience all around. I'm really unhappy, which unfortunately seems happen at Drybar a lot. I've only had one good experience but it's convenient and other people like it so I stupidly keep going back. No impending disasters or regrets. For $40 (before tax/tip) you can walk into any of the Drybar locations looking like a disheveled mess and come out looking sleeker than the Duchess of Cambridge... or more wavy than Leona Lewis, whatever you're in the mood for. The "menu" consists of a bunch of options for you to choose from. Want a sleek mane? Get the Manhattan. Want straight but with some body? Get yours Straight Up. Sexy head of curls? The Cosmo. Perfectly messy beach hair? The Mai Tai. Ok you get the picture hopefully. Oh and they also do updos aka the Up-Tini and Shirley Temples for the little ones. Booking an appointment is super easy. Just go to their website, pick a day and choose any of their time slots that are available and voila, you're set. OR they now have a Drybar app meaning you can book your slot on the fly if you decided that your hair needs a little extra TLC for that big date on Friday night. There is a 12 hour cancellation policy so don't forget or you'll pay. Literally. This particular location (which is the one I frequent) is located in the basement of the Le Parker Meridien Hotel. The salon is slick and trendy in decor with all of the amazing Drybar products within view. Oh and a couple flat-screen TVs to help the time go by faster. Everyone is just so friendly and helpful. You really feel like a top customer when you walk through their glass doors. Oh and did I forget to mention the free alcohol while being pampered? That means COMPLIMENTARY champagne plus coffee/water/tea for you non-alcoholics. What's not to love about having your hair washed and styled by somebody other than yourself while sipping on ice cold bubbly? I can't think of one good reason. I love blowouts and bubbles. This place is amazing!!!! I came on my lunch break for a 1:30 appt. I arrived at 1:28 and at 1:33pm I was at the sink getting washed. I am a black female with unpermed hair. My curl pattern is tight! I usually do my hair myself but it can be a process, so I've been looking for somewhere to go and get it done WITHOUT the long wait at other salons. My stylist was Lucie and she was great!! Very friendly and patient. It took over an hour, which was longer than the other women in there, but she seemed absolutely unphased and focused on my hair. I loved it. The picture was me in a cab on the way back to my office. It looked amazing, but I ran a little bit to get the cab. Considering I walked in there with my hair a mess pulled back into a bun and left like this i have NO complaints! I will definitely return if they will have me :) As long as this lasts a week or so, I am a happy camper! read more

My friends and I were SO excited to try Drybar and were already talking about starting a "bar tab" when we came back to Boston but we were really disappointed. The experience was just what we expected -- until we got to the styling part. All three of us had complaints about our stylists being too rough and burning our heads with the blow dryers. While we all looked nice after our 45 minute appointments, our hair flattened and the curls came out COMPLETELY after 2 hours. It was a total waste of money. I am new to the dry bar salon thing. And, as a concept, I love it -- it goes back to my grandma's days of going in to the salon once a week for a wash and set. I love that part! I've been going only fairly recently, and, have been visiting different salons in different towns when I travel. TOday, I visited the DryBar in the Parker Meridien. Like several other dry bar salons, I found the ambiance LOUD. All of the staff are efficient, but not necessarily professional. They got the job done, but none of it is horribly memorable either way. Today, I tried a new hair style. I am a hair idiot. I don't do anything to my hair, ever. I wash it and brush it and say good day. So the fact that anyone can get my hair to do a thing at all is rather amazing. Today, I picked a style never attempted with my hair, and, she got it done and it looked great -- great! As others have commented, it is falling flat pretty quickly (I've been out now for 5 hours and one side of my head is completel flat, with the other side still has some body). I don't know that this is their fault. I just don't know enough to know. But it was fun while I had it, and, maybe this is a lesson that my hair doesn't take to that particular style. I don't find that their staff had a lot of confidence, which seems to be a pattern at these places. Makes sense -- these are men and women who either haven't had the training to be full stylists, or, don't have the talent or opportunity to become stylists yet, so their experience level will be low. But it does make me wonder how much a wash and set at my normal salon would cost..... read more

This review is long overdue... as I came here for my 30th Birthday in February. But, it was just too great of an experience to NOT write one. 1.) Decor is fab, very clean and chic! 2.) Staff was super friendly and accommodating to our group of 5. THANK YOU Katie, Samantha, Christina, Lucas, and of course my stylist XAVIER! 3.) Since it was my bday, i got an extra floater - scalp massage!! 4.) Complimentary champagne if you like 5.) They offer more than just a "blow out". I really think each stylist has a little magic in their fingers using the hair styling tools. 6.) I would definitely recommend coming here for special occasions. The salon staff was really nice and friendly went we arrived offered us water and wine. Once I was assigned my stylist, Oliver, things went down hill quickly. I asked for a simple old Hollywood style with large curls. First piece of hair he attempted to curl, burnt my ear. I let him now I had clip on extensions and he kept running the brush through my hair pulling them down. When he was "finished" he didn't curl half of my hair. In conclusion I had to do my hair on my own that day for a wedding. Would not recommend Oliver at all he has no idea what he's doing! read more
