I explained this to the receptionist and they made note of it for me - X-rays which require equipment to be in your mouth for periods of time are the worst for me. If it's in my mouth for more than a few seconds, I gag and sometimes throw up. The dental assistant went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me through this, she would literally place the piece in my mouth, run to take the photo and run back to get it out as fast as she could (I wish I knew her name). Every time I'm in the chair, they're reassuring and check in with me. Dr. Kimet is an angel, she's thorough, professional, patient and most importantly, friendly! She takes time explaining things and never makes me feel bad about my 100 questions. I've also never had a more thorough teeth cleaning before, my mouth felt amazingly clean afterword. She also did some cosmetic work on my teeth, I had 2 chipped teeth that I was very self conscious about- she did such a great job, you'd never know they were chipped in the first place. Barb & Anna are wonderful dental hygienists. Being a naturally inquisitive creature, they walk me through every step, not only telling me what they're doing but also why. They also take custom imprints of your teeth to give you trays for home whitening. He cared about his patients, their well being to make sure they recover quickly after surgery or procedure. He will take care of all of your needs. Fast forward all these years and when my regular dentist told me I needed some "specialty work" ( I was certain it was a synonym for a lot of drilling and gum cutting and pain) my heart sank. I made the appointment with the specialist and then counted the days to "Doomsday" with dread. Well, enter Periodontal Associates, and in particular, Dr. Peter Liaros. I arrived full of apprehension and nervous energy and within minutes he had me laughing at the antics between him and his assistant. He even took the tools out of my mouth at times so I could join into the repartee! The half an hour procedure was done with plenty of anesthesia and hand holding, and the after care was clearly explained to me. This was done without the pain and "torture" that I was expecting. And the dentist even gave me his home phone number and beeper in case I needed to reach him after hours. Who does that anymore? This office runs on time and is decorated with interesting pieces of art displayed throughout. Parking is simple as this is located in the Professional building at Oak Brook Mall so there is a parking garage nearby. There are also offices in the Loop and on the south side. Going to the dentist and especially a specialist is never going to go on my list of "Things I like to do".
