Shopped for a mother's dress and had a wonderful sales gal help me. What I did not like was the sales tactics of telling you how long it would take for a dress to come in. I ordered one as I thought I better get something ordered if it takes this long. It was ordered in February, and it did not come in until the end of June. The wedding is July 25th. I was getting nervous about it coming in so I had much better luck just going to the larger department stores picking one off the rack or off Amazon. You can order beautiful dresses from any of those places and it does not take 5 months to get in. It took less than a week and free returns. Don't fall for the sales tactics like I did. Now I have a dress I probably won't wear and it cannot be returned. read more

I have had a very mixed experience with this shop. The day I came in to try on dresses was amazing. I was beginning to think I wouldn't have that "say yes to the dress moment," but when the owner happened to walk by and asked to see my inspo photos, he immediately went to get a dress that ended up being the one. That was the highlight of my experiences with this shop. It was truly amazing. When we ordered the dress is when we started to have some issues. We had very clear communication about 2 small custom order things we wanted (lined bodice, changing a color somewhere). So I felt good leaving the store. When I looked closer at the receipt a few weeks later, I noticed the size was 2 sizes too big. I call the shop and they say it's a mistake on the receipt and that the dress is coming in the correct size... I think strange but ok. I go to try on the dress when it comes in, and it is 2 sizes too big. They're very apologetic and go check the order details to see that the correct size is on its way, and the person on the phone just placed a new order because it was too late to cancel the first. I think fine, they're fixing it, we have plenty of time. A few months later the new size comes in, but its bodice is sheer and not lined like we specified in the order. They end up making me pay around $100 for a yard of fabric to get shipped in so I can end up paying even more for a seamstress to sew it in. So overall I would recommend this place with a healthy amount of caution. They have the best variety that I've seen in Fargo but be very careful with communication and checking your receipts. Choosing your wedding dress is a very special day. Yesterday was that day for my future daughter-in-law. The service we recieved at this store was so disappointing from the moment we walked in. The lady who help us was very unpersonable and made us feel like a nuisance. She did not even help with a few of the dresses as she was too busy putting things away. She didn't even use the brides name. We would not recommend this store to anyone, they almost ruined our day! No one deserves this treatment. read more

The owner helped me shop after I wandered in without an appointment. He was super friendly and helpful, and I found my dress and my veil. Of everyone I shopped with, he was by far the best, understood my vision, and was flexible. The store is organized by dresses that are under $1000 and those that are over $1000. They seem to have a larger selection of the higher-end dresses. I like the set-up of their fitting rooms - private changing rooms, and then semi-private viewing rooms. That way not everyone in the store has to see you try on dresses, which is different from other stores I've been in. I did get my dress there so I'm a little biased, but the service I received was, for the most part, as attentive as I've received at any other store. The knowledge of the staff was on the upper end - the dress I purchased was picked by the staffer helping me. Not all stores have staff who can do that. Their accessories were expensive, I thought - I was told their jewelry is handmade, which may account for the higher prices. They do have bridesmaid dresses in the basement. This was the only one of four Fargo bridal stores that's not open on Sundays. read more

Was looking for a simple bridesmaid dress. The service was terrible. There were two sales associates standing around and no one approached us. They couldn't even tell me the size of the dress I had tried on or the additional colors it came in. I easily found the same dress online and ordered from a different shop. It was much cheaper at the other store, probably why they don't tell you the size or designer. Very shocked at the service in the retail industry. read more

I've been to a couple wedding stores in Fargo-Moorhead area and this place had the best selection in my opinion!! I didn't want to spend $2000+ on a dress that I was only gonna wear once in my lifetime so I needed a store with a decent selection of wedding dresses on sale. Finding a dress can be overwhelming but the staff was super helpful even though I didn't have an appointment. I found my perfect dress within 1 hr and it was half off the original price!! One more thing that I like to point out is the changing rooms. I like that it gives you privacy so you don't have to walk out in the open so that everyone can see you. I had a wonderful experience at Alan Evans Bridal. The dress I originally planned to wear didn't work out, so with only 1 month before my wedding they bent over backwards to help me find a dress I really loved. They not only let me buy a new dress off the rack, but they also were able to finish the alterations in only two days. That was really amazing to me because the smallest size they had was a 10, and she was able to take it in and make it a 2 -- and it looks awesome! They aren't just trying to sell you something, they listen to you and take your personality into account. I would definitely recommend them! read more

She was patient, she listened to what I liked and didn't like, she was respectful and professional, extremely helpful with zipping, corsets and tightening. Beware!! My daughter ordered her dress in Feb., we paid in full that day as they stressed the importance of how long it takes to get dressed. She went for her fitting on Sat., August 6th per their restricted alterations dept., earliest appt. when she got there they had made a mistake & ordered the wrong size( by six sizes & they are going to do their best to rectify this but her wedding is in 4 weeks!!! Stress for all; upset daughter & family & they are being very non-apologetic about it. Plus they still want to charge her for alterations if/when they get it in on time. Really?? She traveled two hours for this appointment. Since they opened their new location- the worst experience I have ever had and now they refuse to do any of my alterations because I dared complained about the customer service. Walking into the store no one greeted me, I asked about the appointment and got "yeah someone will be with you. The attendant handed me the clipboard and I filled it out. She didn't look at it or help me pick out dresses. My mom and sister did. I watched other brides get better assistance. I did end up buying my dress and the bridesmaids dresses there. My mom also bought her dress there. I wasn't even offered to take a picture that I had found a dress had to ask for it. We had issues with the bridesmaids dresses not being ordered. Also had issues with wrong measurements. I went to pay for my dress and was told to take it home and no appointment was set up for alterations. When I asked any questions, I was dismissed or not called back. Today when I asked about alterations the manager on the phone was acting very off, said to me "who are you?" "What do you actually need" and then got all huffy at me when asking for my information. I then called back directly to ask for alterations. Later I got a call from the manager saying that we've had too many differences in opinions I was being refused service. So that leaves me with no alterations and they said that they could refuse me service even though I bought the dress with them. I asked for an owner to call me back and I doubt the manager passed on that message. Worst customer service I have ever had and I say buyer please beware. read more

I set up an appointment at the store 3 weeks ahead of time. When I arrived with my party, I filled out the description of the dress that I waa looking for, with a budget of $200-300. The price range was chosen because I am attempting to have a simple and inexpensive wedding. When the consultant took me to look at dresses, she instantly told me that I would have a hard time finding a dress in that budget and they had bridesmaids dresses more expensive than that. She brought me to the clearance section to find dresses on my own. When she came back she chose another dress for me to try on even though I made it clear that it was not what I was looking for. She then asked what kind of dress I wanted, without referring to the paperwork that I had filled out. I showed her a pictureof one that I wanted, at which point she told me that the one similar to it was already sold and I would not have been able to afford something with that design. After I tried on one wedding dress, she brought me a black bridesmaid dress to try. I told her that I like that design, so she sent me to the bridesmaids section to wait for another employee, without an attempt to look for a similar wedding dress. My entire party of four other women felt uncomfortable and ignored during the visit, agreeing that she only seemed to care about the price and had little interest in putting in the effort to find a wedding dress in my budget. The following Monday, I returned to the store to talk to the manager and file a complaint. The manager apologized and said that they took pride in accommodating all budgets. The worst part came two days later. The woman who was my original consultant contacted me and asked why I had complained to the manager? I explained to her how I and the rest of my party felt. She disagreed that her behavior was unprofessional, claiming that she let all of her customers try to find their own dress and that she was not familiar with the brideamaid dresses, which is why she left us. She never once apologized for treating me like I could not afford the mechandise. She also never apologized for her behavior, but apologized that I felt that way. Later that day, I called the store and talk to another manager. I told her that the woman I had previously complaned about had called me to dismiss my feelings of offense and attempt to defend herself. The manager offered no explanation to why she would do this. I am still unsure of if the woman acted on her own or was following the directions from a manager. In any case, such a reaction is unprofessional and makes the entire situation more uncomfortable for the cutomer. I ultimately asked the woman to destroy my information because I had no interet in being contacted again. My entire experience at this store was uncomfortable and unprofesional. The employee made it clear that she had no interest in helping me due to my budget. She did not take respnsibility for her offensive action and never offered a sincere apology. She made me feel uncomfortable about contacting the managers, who apparently do not care about how the customers feel abouttheir service. I will not recommend this shop to anyone looking for a dreas, not only because of the poor service I received while shopping, but also the unprofessional actions of the employees after I expressed my offense. read more

Not the best experience shopping for a wedding gown here. A questionnaire was filled out regarding budget and style preferences, and after I was finished with that the sales person told me & my sister to go pick out some dresses & after seeing my preferences she would find others. We picked four dresses that I tried on, and some that I probably would have loved; however, when it came to showing the dresses to my family the sales lady was nowhere to be found to assist in clamping the dress and showing it to size. After trying on the dresses we picked, the sales lady brought one more dress in that was over $2000 over my budget. When I tried that one on and didn't love it, she stated that she was stumped and could find no other dresses for me to try. My preferences weren't picky, mostly just a simple dress under $1200. The dresses could've been beautiful, but I was unable to assess how they looked without seeing how they would fit. read more

So rude! I stopped by the store myself just to browse bridesmaid dresses. I had an idea in mind, but didn't need to try anything on. I didn't need any help. They girl was appalled I didn't have an appointment and told me to come back in 15 min. I told her I'd just forget it then and go somewhere else. Then she asked me when my wedding was and I said in August. She said to me, "oh are you kidding?! I guess you can go downstairs and look then." I asked where to go and she goes, "um those big stairs over there.... Go down those." Talking to me like I was stupid. Then I start browsing, another lady comes downstairs and I show her my ideas.. Her response, "um, yeah those are all over Pinterest. We don't have anything like that and you won't find that anywhere." I was on the verge of tears at this point and I thanked her for her "help" and left. I'm just looking for a dress with a little beading on top and that flows on the bottom. I just couldn't believe how rude they were there. I will never go there again and wouldn't send anyone there either. Also, they aren't open until 8 they close at 5pm. read more

I just hung up from a phone call from my 20-yr-old daughter, who was so upset because of her phone conversation with someone at Alan Evans Bridal. My daughter is going to be in an upcoming wedding and called to give Alan Evans Bridal her measurements so a dress can be made. Apparently, the woman taking the information was relaying it to another employee at the same time, and my daughter could hear them discuss her size in a way that was insulting and embarrassing, as if she was obese and disproportioned. My daughter typically wears size 8's and 10's, and looks great--healthy, shapely, and fit. The woman questioned my daughter as to whether a "professional" measured her, or whether my daughter measured herself (she had a professional tailor measure her), then told my daughter (in a voice that conveyed disbelief) that she is a size 18 for her waist, and that an extra charge for being a "plus size" would be added to the cost. What!?! She wears a size 10 off the rack! In this day and age of building our daughters' body images up and having them not fall for runway model norms, shame on Alan Evans Bridal for their unprofessionalism and lack of sensitivity.
