My dress is 2 pieces, an under slip dress with a short train and then a mesh pearl covered overlay dress with a train. I bought this dress a year ago off the rack at their encouragement because it was a pretty unique dress that hadn't had much interest and I could get it at a discount. It was a size 12 and I was an 8 at the time. They assured me that their seamstresses could take it in no problem and that we should wait until a couple months out from wedding to start alterations. Outside of the girls convincing me to purchase a dress off the rack that was wayyyy to big and not a style that could be altered that drastically essentially to clear out a dress that wasn't making them money and to get a quick commission off me, they neglected to tell us that they don't have in house seamstresses until my 2nd appt. Side note, I am an out of town bride driving from the twin cities for these appointments and they ONLY offer 9am and 4pm appts for alterations which is very challenging to make work. The girls pinning your dress ARE NOT TRAINED SEAMSTRESSES!!! They pin then they send the dress to an independent contractor seamstress who then has to try to figure out what the consultant had in mind and without ever seeing the bride in the dress or on a body at all. My 1st alterations appointment, the consultant had said that because of the excess material she thought we should put in a seam down the center of the slip style dress instead of taking it in on the side seams.... and this point I thought she was an experienced seamstress who knew what she was doing so we approved it. She should have told us that it was not going to work out and that we should order a new slip in my size. When I came to my 2nd appt (5 weeks to wedding) the dress looked like they hadn't done hardly any of what we had pinned and discussed except for the center seam and the neckline of the slip. The outer overlay was relatively fine. But the slip was still MASSIVE and what they did do, genuinely looked like I could have sewn it better with my eyes closed. They left so much extra fabric in the center seam and the two layers of fabric did not lines up. The neckline was sewn bunched up and was crooked and wavy. One strap was longer than the other. I'm not a crier... well I cried that day. The poor consultant was very nice and I know it wasn't her fault, they did offer to refund the alterations ($280ish) and said I could try to take it elsewhere. On this short notice... that was unlikely. So we asked if they had a different seamstress who could fix what was done and make it actually fit. They said yes. 3rd appt (3 weeks til wedding) I didn't even go. I had my sister pick up the dress and try it on first before I spent another 8 hours in the car to be disappointed. The fit was better but the center seam and the execution of everything was just so bad still. They also had done a bustle on both pieces and the outer piece is all sorts of messed up and now the train does not lay flat like it's supposed to because they put threads in several places but the two layers of mesh were not lined up correctly so it pulls in different directions and looks terrible. I was able to find a REAL seamstress who was willing to help and she was astonished. I hadn't noticed it before I got there but there is blue marker ALL OVER the dress along the seams where they had taken it in. She told me the slip dress was a lost cause and I she wouldn't be able to undo what they did completely and it would be expensive. So I'm wearing a $30 slip dress from Amazon under the mesh overlay. Because of YDBN, I have a $1600 dress that I can't even wear half of because I spent $300 on alterations with them to only RUIN it and make it unwearable. PLUS more $$ on alterations with the new person to rush fix the outer part. read more

Giving two stars because they did help me find my dream dress and also my wedding bands but other than that my experience was FAR from good. From the extreme lack of communication to the false promises. Started with them telling me I could add sleeves to a sleeveless dress. The material was supposed to arrive in 8 weeks, it took 12. It came on Tuesday the week of my wedding mind you. Granted, YDBN says they couldn't do anything but maybe pushing the company who made the material to keep their word would've helped a little or maybe checking on the progress more regularly since I ordered sleeves 12 weeks before hand and once we hit the 8 week mark I'm the one who called and checked up and I can about guarantee they wouldn't have followed up if I didn't make the first move. Anyways, Nicole sets up an appt for me to come Tuesday at 5:30 I say great I can make that work but the rest of the week is a no go as it's 4 hours round trip to get to Fargo and my wedding was in 4 days. She also told me multiple times she wasn't worried because sleeves only took 2 hours to make... LOL. 3.5 hours after they received them all they could manage was cutting out the pattern and told me to come back on Wednesday and that's when I picked up my dress and took it to my own seamstress where she informed me, they hadn't even cut out the right pattern, she literally had to sew together the scraps to make it work out. Can't even imagine how they would've turned out if I would've left them there. It also took multiple tries to even reach someone on their phone. EVERY. TIME. I tried to call. If they're so busy with customers maybe they should look into a receptionist, just a suggestion though. My mom ordered her mother of the bride dress there it came in on July 5th. She never received a phone call or anything I called in the middle of August wondering if it was in when they proceeded to tell me they tried calling her once and never got a hold of her... so I guess calling twice wasn't an option. The first alteration appointment my dress was way too big on me so one of the girls pinned it up on me and it was perfect, I was excited for the next appointment. I also told them I really didn't want to hem my dress because I didn't want it to end up too short, I was quiet adamant about it (my sister can vouge for that) and the girl convinced me she would only hem off very little so I said fine. I go to try it on the next time and one it's still huge not even sure why they pinned it if it was going to be taken in a millimeter and to top it off it was too short after they claimed they would pin it with extra length so that wouldn't happen. What a joke. Moral of the story YDBN needs to figure there stuff out and maybe lighten their workload so when a bride needs her dress done for her wedding that should've been done 4 weeks before hand, they don't say well the seamstress has 10 other dresses to do for the weekend too so we will try to squeeze it in. They did give me my material for my sleeves for free so I guess I can count that as a win and Nicole did call to apologize for the unfortunate circumstances, but you could tell it was one of those courtesy phone calls where she was hoping I wouldn't end up writing a bad review. read more

Madie, the sweetest salesperson of all time, made the dress-choosing process so fun, and I never once felt pressure to buy something I wasn't completely sold on. When my dress shipment from the designer in Spain was delayed by several weeks, Your Day by Nicole went out of their way to make sure I didn't have to worry. Nicole would text me regular updates as she received new shipment information, and because I had recently moved away from Fargo, she also had my dress overnighted to me at her own cost, and even took it upon herself to contact my local seamstress to make sure she seemed up to the job and that I wouldn't be charged for a rush order. Terrible experience with this store. I purchased a necklace I absolutely loved online because I knew a friend who got the same one. To my disappointment the necklace arrived damaged / broken. When I contacted Nicole she no longer had any left and asked to ship back (which I paid to do) and she would refund me the cost of the necklace and shipping. I paid to ship the necklace back and followed up to make sure it was received. Nicole confirmed they got it and sent the refund. However, they never actually refunded my money... I had the best experience at Your Day by Nicole! I went with my mom (Matron of Honor), and my Maid of Honor and her daughter. We all felt so welcomed upon arrival. They had a personalized fitting room ready for me and filled it up with dresses for me to try on. The bridal consultants are so professional and knowledgeable. I trusted their opinion on what looked good, and when I said yes to the dress they made me feel even more confident about my decision. They are lucky I am giving this shop even one star!!! We had the most horrible experience there! I went with my niece to go dress shopping. She had told her consultant her budget for the dress. Everything was going along fine, the consultant was pulling beautiful dresses (all within budget) that were some real contenders. The the consultant but my niece in a dress that she fell in love with. The only problem was it was double the budget and also had no tag stating the price (which all of the in budget dress had tags on them). Of course my niece falls in love with the dress. Still no mention of the price!!! We take the group photo with the sign proclaiming she had found her dress. Again no mention of the price!!! We go up front to do the paperwork. My niece gets measured, etc. The paperwork is filled out and just as she was about to hard over her card, the consultant writes the price down. It was DOUBLE what my niece had set as her budget!!! The tears my niece were crying that were happy tears SUDDENLY turned to tears of disappointment and sorrow!! Needless to say, we left WITHOUT a dress!!! So if you decide to use this shop, I suggest you do so with warning!!! They will be sleazy and underhanded to try and sell you a more expensive dress!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Believe it or not YDBN also sells engagement rings, and they are BEAUTIFUL! We stopped in a few day for a consultation. We noted our budget, band preference, and diamond type and style. She had a super fun kit of magnetic diamonds and bands where you can mix and match them to find what you like best. While doing this we were able to narrow down our search. We set an appointment to meet with Nicole a few days later. She took note of what we liked and ordered some bands and different diamonds and stones to look at. She hit it right on the nose. Everything she picked I LOVED! She was wonderful to work with and did everything to make sure we got what we were looking for. The prices are wonderful and she offers great service following the ring purchase. Every staff member we interacted with was very helpful and polite as well. I definitely recommend her shop for engagement ring purposes. YDBN will also be the wedding dress shop I check out in the near future! read more
