Rode the train in to the convention center for a conference. Convenient way to not pay $15 for…read moreparking. Few passengers on a Friday. Parking was great. Lots of space. The new ticket validators are sleek. I was glad to see an RTD police officer at the station when I alighted after the conference. It was getting dark and some of the riders were weird. I thanked him for his vigilance and my sense of security. He was nice and walked partway to my car with me.

Denver was awash in various independent railroads before consolidation into four major carriers by…read more1880 with freight and passenger depots scattered all over town and a giant traffic jam of horse carts ferrying people, luggage, and freight back and forth. The big four finally wised up, created a consortium, and built the first Union Station in 1881. The original building only lasted until 1894 when an electrical fire destroyed the central hall and 180-foot clock tower. The stone wings survived and a Romanesque central hall was quickly rebuilt. This was demolished and replaced with today's Beaux-Arts Great Hall in 1914. The station was close to abandoned in the 1990s as train travel declined with only two Amtrak trains per day. A massive redevelopment in 2014 converted the station to a multi-modal transit hub including an underground bus terminal for RTD and Greyhound, light and heavy rail, Amtrak, and the 16th Street FreeRide. The Great Hall has been completely restored and now boasts multiple boutique shops, restaurants, bars, and the elegant Crawford Hotel, built into the upper floors. The outdoor Wynkoop Plaza has seating for several restaurants plus a splash pad with computer-programmed water jets that gets lots of attention on hot days. Following the plaza out of the rear (north) side of the building leads to the tracks for heavy rail (Amtrak, the A-line to the airport, and the B-, G-, and N-lines). Continuing to the north is Lightrail Plaza with the RTD C, D, E, L, R, and W routes. The terminus for the 16th Street FreeRide is tucked behind this. The redevelopment of Union Station has been an enormous success. The multi-modal system works great. The bars, shops, and restaurants have been very popular and the Great Hall is comfortable and stunning. This is one of my favorite spots in Denver.

However we were able to walk around and enjoy the architecture. Downside is parking. There's street paid metered parking, but know it can get super packed on any given day. Uber has gotten worse and worse over time. Not only have their prices continued to go up for simple…read morerides but the drivers have become ruder, less speak even enough English to be able to appropriately help if there's an emergency (yeah kind of important) and some of the cars people drive should barely be able to be on the road. At the very least a driver needs to be able to communicate basic English (the overwhelmingly spoken language in the US) so if there's an emergency they are able to notify the proper authorities and/or assist. When you aren't able to communicate with someone, especially someone you are paying for a service and that service involves something dangerous, like driving, it not only takes away from the customer experience which has only gotten worse with uber but it does not make the rider feel safe. I've also had drivers cussing on the phone with their boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife and just honestly being terrible at customer service. How are these people vetted? I've been in cars where multiple warning lights are on, there's noise coming from under the hood (not good noise) and quite frankly I have no idea how they are even on the road. One car had their child lock on the back doors, not remotely safe. Drivers who have literally been blasting their music, wildly inappropriate lyrics and loud (but I guess we don't care about common decency anymore) then when asked to turn it down I was told this is my car you can do what you want in yours. It's just gotten to a point where I'd almost rather take Lyft or a Taxi over Uber. At least with a taxi if you aren't able to communicate with them they are at least professional drivers.

On the day and time of pickup, I received a text message from Uber that they could not find a driver. I had to request a taxi instead but only after discovering that Uber does not service Yellowstone. I have never had an issue with Uber that after getting confirmation that they don't service an area. They should have not allowed me to reserve a ride if that is the case. It made for a very anxiety driven time. I do love Uber but not today. Please make sure when booking a ride that they do cover the area and Uber, shame on you for allowing the reservation in the first place.

Convenient location to catch a ride on RTD light rail to the Broadway station hub or southbound…read more After the theatre or meal at a restaurant, you can walk to this station and ride to where you parked your car closer to your home. This way you don't have to pay for parking or worry about finding parking in downtown Denver. There's signage telling you how to ride, the schedule for the different lines, and the ticket kiosk and the ticket validation machine next to the tracks.

There's also access via footbridge to the city of Englewood parking structure. There's not really any shelter around the station, so when it's windy, it's probably pretty cold up by the light rail tracks. However, that does give you a good idea of where you are, because you can see several blocks radius around you. It's certainly very convenient if you need to get to the Englewood city Center, or other places nearby, like Cushing Park or Dartmouth Avenue. Depending on where your final destination is, and whether you're crazy like me and would rather walk for 20 minutes and wait for 10 and write a bus for 15, everything's accessible via the footpath system that runs under Santa Fe pretty easily. Overall, even if it's not the fanciest station I ever saw, I certainly wouldn't mind my commute bringing me through here more often.

Initially called last Tuesday and inquired for a party bus round trip service to red rocks for 16 people. Sam, the owner stated that his bus accommodated for up to 20 passengers, the bus has a great sound system, comfortable seats, and the he was able to take us to the round about in the north lot of Red Rocks Amphitheater. I scheduled the bus arrival at 6:30pm in lakewood for 16 passengers. The day of the event (Friday) Sam called and stated that he was running late due to traffic and he was going to be 10-15 minutes late. I expected him to arrive at 6:40pm. Once he arrived he stated that the pickup service was at 6:15pm.. What? First encounter with Sam was very unpleasant - he stated that i reserved the bus at 6:15pm, funny thing was that on his paper work, he wrote down '6:30pm'. Automatically he was accusing US for not being on time... The party bus itself is in horrible condition. No cushion on the seats, my friends and i were sitting on marble tiles and some of my friends were sitting in a broken sink in the bus. There is a sound system but only can be used by the bus driver (Sam). During the ride to red rocks, he wouldn't let any of my friends play music on the sound system. He had music playing on the bus but it was HIS music only. No offense on his music taste, but my friends and I don't listen to top 90's music.. I went ahead and walked up to Sam while he was driving and asked if we could change the music, he rudely responded that he did not want me near him. He did drive us half way to the top and we had to hike up to the north lot entrance of Red Rocks, I wanted to speak with Sam after the show since my friends and i were upset about the service. I asked him if we were able to talk after the show. But he demanded that we 'talked now'. Trying to hold a conversation with him was impossible, I was trying to explain to him that my friends were unhappy with the service and that the bus was falsely advertised. He was threatening my friends and i that he was going to leave us at red rocks. As my friends were trying to calm him down, he stated that he would stay if only I did not talk to him and stated that i needed to "shut my mouth". He then threatened that he was not willing to stay unless he got an additional $150 from us. My friends and I didn't want to be left behind at red rocks and ended up paying him an additional $150. I feel like he purposely wanted to start drama so that he was able to threaten us and get more money from us. Overall, the worst service I had in years. Sam is rude, unprofessional, and does not know anything about customer service. I don't appreciate how he threatened my friends and I that he was going to leave us at red rocks and demanded $150 extra; we are victims of a con-artist. Beware of Sam and his falsely advertised party bus!!!!
