I just want to say I was really disappointed that I Take my gun to RSTP To put on a optic on it on the 18 of this month Then I call them back on the 22 to ask about the gun if they done with it yet woman answer and said no so I said ok then I go back on Sunday and they still didn't do anything to my gun.and also that where I buye the optic for them to put it on and Zero it in so that never happen So one of the guys put it on and take it to the range. Try zero it's still didn't zero properly. I could get the optic cheaper on. I'm freedom gorilla, but I choose to buy it there for them to put it on for me. UPDATE: I received a phone call on Monday from Amanda, who is the General Manager at RTSP. She apologized several times for the service I received. Amanda made no excuses and informed me that RTSP would use the feedback to better train the staff. Amanda did state that the company is understaffed and some are overworked and because of the nature of the business, the hiring process is a lot longer than most jobs. I understand and it made sense to me! I feel Amanda was sincere and I appreciated the time she took to call and address the issue. I let her know that I would update the review to reflect my satisfaction with the situation. She also informed me that the lady I spoke of in my original review was Beka, a sales manager! ******************************************************* Original Review: Part I: I purchased a firearm on the website and went to pick it up last Friday from RTSP in Randolph. I meant to send it to Union but got confused on the website and boy was that a nightmare! Before I arrived I called the Randolph store to inquiry if I could do the paperwork in Union(Which is 5 miles away from me) and pick up the gun in Randolph. The guy on the phone responded with a harsh and abrupt "No" and when I told him I didn't see where I could pick the Union store, he replied, "It's on the website" but offered no further explanation or guidance. It was awkward because he then hung up! A friend was with me and overheard the interaction and even commented like "That guy was rude!" I didn't think anything of it. Part II: So after a 60-mile drive round trip and an hour and 25-minute wait in the store, I had a horrible customer service experience with Sales Associate Tommy T, who I realized was the guy I spoke to on the phone! Again he was rude and standoffish and acted like he didn't want to assist me. It was only after I started asking what his name was and his manager's name and how this long wait was unacceptable because I had my family members waiting in the car, then the mood started to change and I felt like he became empathic to my situation! Regardless of what/how I am buying or the amount of my transaction, every customer deserves good service and I did nothing to warrant the D-/F+ grade of service I received. I can understand it's their busy season but the store wasn't even packed by RTSP standards, maybe 7 or 8 people were in there, which was weird to me. I even watched Mr. Tommy interact with other customers before me and I didn't see or hear the attitude I received given to anybody else in the store. I was so frustrated with this experience, that I canceled the 2 other purchases I was going to make. I'd like to hope that I just caught Mr. Tommy on a bad day but that was totally unnecessary...The funny thing is I went there on Wednesday (Another 60-mile ride round trip) to do the paperwork and the lady that helped me(I didn't get her name but see who was working in sales and give her a Raise!) was super friendly and answered all my questions and I had no problems. She acknowledged my presence and informed me that she would be with me shortly! She then explained to me and I later realized that I didn't see the drop-down box where you could pick Union or Randolph. In my mind, they are the same company and my request didn't seem unheard of. She also explained that while the same company, they are two different FFLs so you must buy and pick up from the same location! I was like, "Ok, got it! That makes sense now!" With all the complicated NJ gun laws, a little explanation goes a long way!! I am sure that RTSP is a great company and that one bad interaction doesn't define an entire business but if you never let your concerns and issues be known, they will never have a chance to be addressed and corrected. read more

Great spot conveniently located off Route 10 East. There are a lot of lanes to shoot. Friendly workers make it a nice experience. They have classes for those that are interested. The place is clean. Bathroom are clean and well maintained. Whether you are an avid shooter or just looking for different to do you certainly will be pleased after spending some time here. read more

Been wanting to go here for a while and going with two inexperienced people we scheduled a class handgun instruction with Patty. We needed to be there 15 minutes to check in and view the mandatory video. We had the paperwork in advance from booking ahead so that was as easy as giving it to the person in the video room with ID and to sit there to actually see the constantly looping safety intro. From there we went to the main checkin counter to pay and finally waited for Patty who was running a little late. From there it was off to a classroom to learn about both safety and use and even for me, growing up with both land and during a time when using firearms were just a part of life, I managed to still learn something. I never used a revolver before and one of the people in our party had that as a main desire so Patty was flexible teaching with both a 9mm slide action and a .38 revolver. After the classroom we headed into the range and from there it was nice to see instruction that would do the same thing I would do with anyone holding a new firearm for the first time (and not much experience) -- start with a one bullet load, check for both comfort and safety, and then go up from there. As strange as it is for someone who grew up in NJ it has been over thirty years since shooting here minus some sporting clays. It was nice to find a place and become familiar with it. The Range safety officers seem to be both very attentive and helpful (on top of readily available). read more

I had a lesson with Rodrigo Diaz yesterday, on "Drawing from a Holster". Rodrigo went through the process step by step, explaining everything with exceptional clarity and demonstrating each step in the process. After explaining the basics and having me shoot, Rodrigo covered how to clear a jam and exactly how to re-load a magazine under stress without taking your eyes off the threat. This was one of the most worthwhile firearm lessons I've ever taken, and I couldn't recommend Rodrigo more highly. read more

The people in the front were nice but the people in the range were rude and condescending.

We attended a Basic Handgun Class for Women taught by Women. The instructors were super friendly and very knowledgeable. The setting was very relaxing. No pressure to shoot until you're absolutely comfortable with your handgun. This class is a must for women with little to no experience with firearms. Even though it was a group class, there was a lot of One On One instruction. We spent about an hour in the classroom learning gun safety, the basics of handguns, safety, how to shoot and safety. Oh, did I mention SAFETY?! The 2nd hour of the class was on the range. We were supplied with pistols, ammo and targets. We learned how to load the magazine and got to shoot a couple different guns. There were plenty of instructors to answer questions and assist the class while allowing us to shoot at our own pace. I highly recommend this class for any woman with little to no experience. read more

Mine review is based on my online experience and total lack of communication. I ordered a shotgun from Calif, needed to contact someone , anyone from RTSP regarding FFL information. I was never able to get a hold of anyone, sent in all the FFL info via the contact portal, nothing, left voicemails...nothing. The gun shipped to the FFL in CA, and they sent it back because it was lacking the CA paperwork. The Ca. FFL tried to call RTSP and never was able to get a hold of anyone. Very disappointed in RTSP's customer service. I'm hoping I don't have to jump through hoops trying to get my money back. read more

The $25 lesson for first time shooters is a bit sleazy. The instructors are there anyway so why charge a customer for a 5 min lesson on loading and shooting. $20 hr for for a lane. Mine was cut a bit short. They could chill out especially with no wait. $10 hr for a 9mm. Then $26 for a round of 50. Glasses and ear muffs are included. $1.75 for the target. It was a fun experience but that lesson charge left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

So RSTP opens officially month the 21st. As a member of the Range I was able to get in there yesterday and check it out and get a little shooting in. I'll try to cover all the bases of what I except from a range First the actual range is pretty nice. There targeting system is a digital one where you can select the exact yard you want your target out on. There are quick select options to retrieve a target or send it completely down range. I didn't really play with it. But you have the ability to change the orientation of the target. Could be handy if you practicing for a match. The ports a fairly roomy, if I had to say something I wish they had it would be a coat hook, but now I'm just being needy. The people there and generally that's a huge thing all seem very nice. Everyone was friendly and people seemed in good spirits, unlike some places where everyone is on edge or just downright grumpy. They also sell guns and ammo here. The guns looked to be priced competitively, granted I don't know the price point of every gun but from what I've purchased and seen they look on par. Ammo is a little expensive if you not a member, but many a couple dollars more a box. If you are a member then your prices will be discounted and fairly reasonable. Granted if you buy in bulk you're going to save a few cent per bullet but this is a range and convenience has a price. I found this surprising but they do have a gun rental. From what I saw it was about 10 dollar for an hour plus range fee or if you're a member then 10 bucks. The only stipulation is that you have to use range purchased ammo. Which will cost a little more but honestly it's a good deal. And I wouldn't want to chance anyone using remanufactured ammo they made themselves with my guns. Overall I'm glad I purchased a membership and if you're in the area and want a place to shoot it worth checking out. read more

BEST shooting range experience I've had yet! Came here with a friend and being the noobs that we were didn't know what to expect. The only guns we ever shot were at Sunset Hill in PA and every step of the way we were always guided, but it's a whole different experience here. It was ALOT more liberating and fun because you aren't "babied" thru the usage of the guns and are given autonomy in going at your own pace. If you're a first timer at RTSP, they make you watch a 15 minute safety video (which they charge you for) and fill out a safety waiver form first. After those are taken care of, if you are a licensed firearms carrier you can bring your own guns and ammunition to use at the range. If you're a renter, like most people are, then you can choose which gun(s) you would like to try out. Warning: Do your research ahead of time as they have tons of different firearms and the cashier expects that you know which gun you want to use. In addition, the range charges you by the firearm rental you select and how many bullets you choose to fire (in quantities of 50). The more advanced the weapon, the more expensive the rental is. After choosing your firearm(s) and ammunition, you're given your sights and ears (aka protective eyewear and earmuffs) and assigned a port range number to fire your weapon at. You have the option of firing from the same port as a partner or you can be assigned a different port. Once at your port, you pin your target and move it back. Then you can load your magazine and load the magazine into your weapon. For noobs who don't know the first thing about loading a firearm, there is a safety officer always available to provide assistance. They were very helpful and walk you thru the steps of loading the weapon, albeit the instructions are a blur at first, so pay very close attention! After they provide you instructions, you're on your OWN and you can load and fire at your own pace until your 1 hour at the port is up. Like I said, the autonomy definitely makes the experience unique as you will have no one hovering over you the entire time and you can shoot, take breaks whenever you want. I'll definitely be coming back as I want to try out other firearms and pace myself better! Can't wait! read more

I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful everyone at RTSP is. Went with my wife and the new handgun recently. Decided to go with the hands on assistance of a range officer to help out my wife ( newer shooter ) as well as impart any knowledge he had to help improve my shooting. Jesse ( range officer ) was amazing. Very patient and helpful. His knowledge and skill set was helpful for the both of us and the improvement in our shooting was noticeably improved. Actually my second time coming here, yet first time using the true m4a1, had to admit the feeling was real and remarkable. You can never imagine you are a soldier until you be one. The officer was extrememly helpful, they will first inform you the knowledge about the were gun then let you try it before turning away. Their tips are very friendly and user-tailered. I shot a USPSA match here last night, their first match I'm told. It didn't run that smoothly but it was still a good time. Anyway, the facility is really nice with multiple ranges and the guys running the match were friendly and can actually shoot too. They have a good selection of rental guns and the prices seem fair as opposed to other ranges like this one *cough* gun for hire . It's a little bit of a trip for me but I'd come back for another match or maybe a class where I can use the shoot house, that's awesome that they actually have that. Awesome place. I took my 14yr old son with me for some much needed stress relief. We rented a rifle for him and a hand gun for me. Being 1st timers at their facility, you have to register yourself. After that it was smooth. We told the gentleman what we were in the mood for and he guided to which firearm we should go with. We were there for an house and went thru 3 boxes of amo. Not sure what the buzzer was for, it didn't blink nor buzzed when we were called. -Get there early!! The line for first timers was super long. RTSP is a great spot wether your ex special forces or you don't know a fork from a firearm! They have several first time packages if you just checking things out or more in depth classes if your looking to start shooting more seriously. I took the one one 2 hour class and it was great. My Instructor, Randall, was fantastic. In the class room he clearly explained everything about safety, shooting stances and the firearm itself. Once on the range Randall helped me to realize what i was doing well and what i needed to do to be better. I will be taking more advanced classes with Randall as soon as i can. If your looking to purchase a firearm RTSP has a huge selection of all the latest handguns and rifles . Their rental fleet is extensive and it's a good bet they have it for you to rent before you buy so you can make a purchase with confidence. RTSP has a great selection of firearms, ammo, and other related products! They have a great selection of rentals as well, but bring a friend. I have shot here many times and the staff has been great! If you rent a firearm, you must buy ammo from the range... This brings me to me next point, if you plan on shooting a lot of rounds, I would buy the ammo from somewhere else... Once again, I like the people there, the range/ facilities, but their ammo prices are steep (most ranges do the exact same thing). I have bought a few firearms from here and their prices are competitive! They have a lot of classes that you can take on self defense, firearm proficiency, and even have a simulator that you can rent out for parties! Last Sunday I took a friend who never shot a firearm to RTSP in Randolph. I was prepared to show him some safety procedures and tips on loading and aiming the handgun but I'm a novice myself. A ranger walked over and introduced himself as Big Mike and asked if we needed any assistance. He then spent 20 minutes going over many helpful tips. He was extremely knowledgeable and we were very grateful and thanked him several times as he came over to check on us. Some people have negative impressions of guns and people around guns but In my experiences at RTSP I couldn't disagree more. Everyone is friendly and respectful and makes you feel comfortable in a place that could be very intimidating. read more

Never going back to this range again. I Went to this range because I was already close by with my friend. Front staff was very friendly. The place is clean and available product for sale are in the store. The down side is that one of the range instructor is way pass rude. This person was on top of my friends. We spend about $750 in ammunition's and firearms and this person was very paranoid. He was Bothered for everything we did and had the worst attitude. My husband and I took the 2 hour one-on-one basic handgun course from Jerry and had a fantastic experience. We appreciated Jerry's very thorough explanations covering SAFETY and the basic mechanics of firearms. Jerry covered dominant eye, and how to use the front and rear sights on the handgun. Jerry also gave excellent instruction on how to pick up a handgun, how to grip a handgun, how to stand, how to aim and the methodology of squeezing the trigger to minimize movement when firing so that you hit the target. Additionally, Jerry brought us on the range for actual target practice. This was very helpful since we were able to put Jerry's great classroom training to use on the range. While we were on the range, Jerry continued to provide us with feedback to help us with the target practice. Thanks to Jerry, we now feel more confident in the basic function and use of handguns. In addition we will return for more one-on-one training with Jerry. He is patient and helpful. read more

The range aspect is fun and very good however, don't ever work with their gunsmithing or any FFL transfers my gun has been sitting there for almost a month with no updates, my flash hider was pin and wielded, they said, they had no problem taking it off and putting a new muzzle break on, pin and wielded. After a month, now they tell me they I have to get a new barrel. Or they simply just couldn't find my rifle. They could of told me 2 weeks ago or just keep me updated. Now I have to pay the shipping back of the rifle as a courtesy from them. And probably wait for another 2 months for these guys to receive, play, hide & go seek with my rifle. read more

Seems like the safety instructors at RTSP love to flip out on customers when they make an error in firearm safety. Rather than address the matter properly, they decide to humiliate you in a belligerent manner which only causes more stress for the situation. Seems like an unsafe way to handle it. Where oh where has professionalism gone? Settle down tough guy and teach me properly without the attitude. Other than that this place is top notch. Excellent instruction for a beginner! Rigo's 1:1 class was just what I needed get started. On my first couple of solo practice sessions, Jerry & Tom got me set up and the RSOs ( Justin, Brian and Mike) were all very helpful with how-to tips and esp. with safety pointers. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because our wait was a bit long. (It was packed... a good thing!) Otherwise, we had a really great time. We had 3 generations including my 8 yo daughter, me and my mom. The instructor, Tom, was especially good with the little one. He had a lot of patience with all of us, it being our first time (well not my mom's). And, he helped us to relax, listen, learn and shoot.
