They even knew my pets names the first day. We hired Matt to paint the entire inside and outside of our house, the outside of our shed and shop, and pressure wash our driveway and patio. Matt bid the high-end Benjamin Moore outdoor paint by default, which was competitively priced with the lower end paint bids by others. The other unique item was Matt's work came with a 5-year workmanship warranty. If I had questions or thought something needed to be touched-up, Matt answered questions or touched up work no questions asked. He wanted to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was when added to the scope of work. I sent photos, he gave a bid, and we agreed to the price. When he came to the house, Matt said he could do the work less and reduced his bid even though we already agreed to the higher amount. Matt's team are good painters and it's clear he takes pride in the quality of his work. I strongly recommend him and would hire him again. The only heads-up I would give (not a negative, just a heads up) is if you want any texturing work done, make sure to communicate your expectations with Matt. Matt was clear with us regarding his team's texturing limitations, which I appreciated. This door also needed some off-site work to shave down the top, so it would close correctly. The team came back on a Saturday morning to bring me the restored closet doors. These little pain points come up with lots projects. You need a company that will take care of things when everything doesn't go perfectly. ESP will make sure everything is taken care off.

The owner stated that only one painter, among the 10 or so that he employed, was trained to spray the exterior of our three-story house, and this painter was leaving the company. But rather than postpone our project while another painter was trained to, uh, paint, Final Touch simply canceled. Now we have to start all over again finding a reputable painting contractor who can fit us in during the busiest season of the year. What a frustrating waste of time.

I called Ruben Cortez Drywall when I had another contractor bail on me. I did a lot of research on drywall contractors and was impressed with his reviews. Right away he answered my call and was very professional. He was able to come out that same day and give me an estimate. I needed extensive drywall work and his estimate was about in line with what I thought the project was going to cost me so I hired him. Ruben's drywall installer, Daniel, did a fantastic job! I couldn't be happier with the quality of work! Daniel was extremely fast and did an amazing job. He obviously knows his stuff! He also did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day. Reuben is as stand-up as it gets, and the finished look of our basement remodel is perfect. Not only did he and his crew do an amazing job, he went the extra mile to help me out of a jam. I just about blew it trying to chase down a drywaller whose bid came in a tad bit less. Not worth it!! After the other guy I'd hired went M.I.A. for a week with no responses, I sheepishly texted Reuben and asked how soon he could take over to finish the job. "Tomorrow morning" was his reply. And that was that. I should have gone with my gut and hired Reuben from the start. Professional, straightforward, honest, punctual, and friendly to boot. The same goes for his whole crew. Ruben and his team assisted us with a repair that involved putting up new drywall on one of our living room walls. Ruben was very easy to communicate with and provided a quick, accurate quote. I used Ruben and his crew for a ceiling patch after removing a fireplace and wall. It was a vaulted ceiling with a difficult texture. He arrived on time for the quote, was able to squeeze me in 2 days later and did an amazing job. You would never know anything was done. They cleaned up all of their mess and were gone before I arrived home in the evening. This is the first time that I can remember that a contractor did what they said they were going to do on time and without issue. I hired Rueben to skim-coat the walls of AKA PDX gallery. The walls were very textured and completely wrong for a gallery space. Rueben gave me an affordable quote on a very slim deadline of two days. His crew started work the next day and were very professional. His teenage son is a responsible employee and works hard. We had a pipe fail and Ruben and his staff saved the day. I called the usual suspects and no one would take a job that wasn't new construction. It was a blessing in disguise. I found Ruben mentioned on Next Door and called. He was at my house the same day to provide an estimate and was ready to go to work within the week. They showed up within 5 minutes of start time, immediately put tarps down everywhere and did a great job. Even though they had to go into the attic to help make the ceiling repair...all insulation and foil barrier was put back. I'd hire this guy again in a heartbeat for any drywall needs. read more

We took out a large soffit in our kitchen and Rueban installed the new drywall. The results were amazing and quick. Barely any dust. I also wanted a smooth wall to do chalkboard paint. I contracted Bobby to cover popcorn ceilings in two bedrooms and a small section in my living room…read morewith sheetrock and finish with texture. I also had him frame out and finish an attic entryway in the master bedroom that had popcorn and remove an old cable jack and phone outlet on the wall, patching those areas with drywall. I found his name mentioned on a Nextdoor post from a neighbor down the street from me. After accepting his bid, he was quick to call me to set up a time to sign the contract and to look over the job site. He was able to put me on the schedule within two days of my agreeing to hire him. He worked consecutively for three days. He completed the job on a Wednesday evening around 8:30pm. It was late and dark in the rooms, and I did a quick assessment with the flashlight on my phone. I pointed out a couple areas where I could still see the seams in the drywall, and he reassured me those wouldn't be noticeable once everything had dried. I paid him the remainder of the money and we parted ways. Next day afternoon, I was able to see the finished work in daylight with a better light source, and was not pleased with the work done. I was able to see almost all of the drywall seams. The corners in the attic entryway were not clean and smooth, and there were random marks and lines in the textured ceiling. Texturing was not done evenly. The texture was so thin in some areas that I could see the sheetrock and heavy in other spots where it was dripping down more than a ¼" and casting shadows. Texturing was also done with the attic door sitting in place. The door was sealed to the attic entry where heavy texture dried. I had rip that apart to push the attic door open. The corners in the living room area were not completely filled in nor smooth looking. I was very disappointed that someone who had 13 years experience would leave me with this quality. After a couple days of phone tag, we talked on Saturday. It was a heated conversation on both ends, but we resolved he would come back on Monday to fix any issues. However, during that conversation, he openly admitted to: 1. Rushing the job because it was late, he was tired and wanted to go home and go to bed. He finished on Wednesday, yet he gave himself until Friday in the contract to complete the job. 2. Having inadequate lighting to do the job. Even though the photos that he took of his completed work looked sufficient, after seeing the photos that i had taken during the daylight and with a better light source, showing my dissatisfaction, he realized that his work was not great and blamed that on not having enough light. He was aware that neither bedroom had any lighting going into the job, yet he chose to finish the work at 8:30pm with no daylight and only one light in the room. 3. Not having the correct nozzle for his texturing machine. A better nozzle was left on another jobsite, yet he still decided to use one that he had less control of to get the job done faster. He did use the use the word "nit-picky" when I was voicing my dissatisfaction. I feel that I have a right to be nit-picky about a job in which I'm spending a large chunk of money, putting my trust in him to do good work and wanting clean looking ceilings that I will be living with for the next 5-10+ years. Bobby came back on Monday. He couldn't give me a timeframe of when he would arrive and start work because it depended on how early his guys would get out of bed and get to the job site. In the end, the work looked much better. The seams in the second bedroom were still slightly noticeable, but I made the decision to call the job complete with the idea that adding primer and paint would hide it. Unfortunately, I can still see them after painting. I can say that I will not call him again nor recommend him to a friend.

We hired Bobby and his team to install a new catio/dog run for us. While I have experience building cat furniture, overhead storage in my garage, etc, and have no fear of any DIY work, this was to be installed on the front of my house and I wanted to make sure it was professionally made and attractive. I was impressed by how into the details Bobby was during the initial design/estimate process. He outlined the exact materials he'd use, which gave me confidence that he understood the full scope of what we were looking for. I created design pictures to make it clearer what we had in mind. He had me do the leg work of finding the exact materials I had in mind for the wire mesh & lattice sections, as well as purchase the door, dog door, and door hardware to ensure they used exactly what we wanted. The entire project included: 1) Adding a new exterior door at the end of a hallway to lead into the catio (this previously was a full wall with no door). 2) Building the catio/dog run structure itself. 3) Building a door frame and hanging a door (originally we wanted him to build the door too, but due to the keycode lock we wanted he decided mid-project that we would be better off buying a door for them to install instead) for leading from the catio/dog run into the yard. 4) Adding a roof to the top of the catio/dog run to allow the pets to enjoy the outside even when it's raining. 5) Covering the outside & uncovered sections of the structure with a combination of lattice (to obscure neighbors' view of any potential dog/cat poop) and wire mesh (for better view of the nearby bird feeders for the cats) and to prevent any of the pets escape. 6) (Contracted separately by us with a landscaper, since Bobby doesn't do this himself) - Prepare/level the ground and install artificial turf for the flooring. We had this done in two parts, the ground was prepped before Bobby started, and the turf was installed once the crew was done with the worst of the stomping around for building the structure so they didn't mess up the brand new turf. This was the first time I had hired a contractor for a project with this many parts to it, so it was a bit of a learning process of how things go. Here are some of our learnings I'll share to make things easier on both sides: 1) Realize that the estimate Bobby gives at the start will NOT be the final price. We had a bit of a surprise at the end when the total project cost rose about 5K more than the estimate. Some of these were unavoidable surprises, like realizing our wall framing was 2x6, not 2x4, which meant the door we had purchased needed to be rehung on an appropriately sized frame. Others were due to the fact that Bobby is a general contractor, not a specialist, and can't perfectly predict how much work a complicated, novel project will take. He has a business to run and needs to pay his crew fairly for their time, so taking extra layers of paint to finish a wall, needing to demo more than expected due to the intricacies of your siding, etc, will be considered changes on his side from the original estimate that you'll have to square up at the end. 2) Over explain expectations. Bobby and his team are great at making things work and problem solving anything they're aware of, but they're looking at things from a builder perspective. They know how to make things easier to build, but might not realize what consequences some of those design decisions have. In our case, we didn't explicitly mention that the catio needed to be completely enclosed, and Bobby didn't know that cats could climb up to the top of an enclosure. So when we pointed out mid project "Hey, how are you closing that gap between the roof section and the wall of the house?" it took some quick thinking on Bobby's part to resolve it. He ended up closing the gap with wire mesh which accomplished the job. 3) Make sure you understand the full design that Bobby is proposing. I was a little surprised when one of the support posts was in front of our bathroom window. It's only a single post, so it doesn't obstruct the view much, but if I were to go back in time to the start of the project I would have pointed out this in my original expectations better so Bobby could adjust the design accordingly. All told, the finished project is fantastic and solidly built! There are some very minor aesthetic flaws (they used too long of nails on the roof, so they're visible on the underside, and the paint he told me to pick up for finishing up the hall isn't a perfect match), and the catio door is having some minor alignment issues now that will be easily rectified, but overall I'm thrilled with the results! Everyone else wanted to install a cheesy gate that was pretty much identical to the original cheesy gate that came with the house when I bought it. David's repair job will likely survive hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes. Well, ok...maybe not tornadoes but as I said, I couldn't be happier with the work and the price. We recently had a color consultation performed for the interior of our condo. The resulting recommendations involve six different colors of top of the line Benjamin Moore paint. We got a quote for the work from the painter recommended by our color consultant. After performing CPR on each other, we decided that painting would have to wait a while. Then I talked to a couple of neighbors who had used Sanchez Painting and were happy with the process and results. I looked at his work in one of these houses and decided to give him a call. His quote was just over half of the previous one. Jaime and his assistant completed our 1350 SF condo in 3 days. He went the extra distance to correct existing problems that would affect the appearance of the finished product. He cheerfully returned to address the touch ups we found and in the process found and fixed a few on his own. We are very happy with the results. BY FAR THE BEST experience we have had with a painter.

Pros: Quick to respond and got us on the schedule quickly. What he said would take a day and a half…read moretook them 7hrs. Cons: They did an incredibly sloppy job and were expensive. Didn't bother to put down a drop cloth or protect the wood trim, which I specifically said I wanted to protect, and therefore left a perimeter of white paint splatter on our wood floors and all the wood trim. Where they did tape off there were plenty of spots where paint had pooled or seeped under the tape. When I complained he said it was from previous painters but he came back the following day and I had to point out everything I had already explained to him over the phone. Him and his helper worked on cleaning the paint spray but only got a portion of it off and blamed what didn't come off easily on the previous painter despite me continually telling him I knew for a fact the floors and trim were in perfect condition and paint free before the arrived. And as for the wood trim where the paint had seeped under the tape, he used a metal palette knife to scrape it off which left multiple gauges in the wood. The whole experience was so depressing I was just happy to see them leave and now I am taking one small section at a time to clean up their mess with a rag, rubbing alcohol and a lot of elbow grease. Now he did apologize for the mess and said he would be more careful next time, but when I hire a professional painter I expect them to take the basic measures of putting a drop cloth down and protecting nearby surfaces the first time.
