I wanted to try somewhere new, and since I love empanadas, I decided to give this Peruvian shop a try. It did not disappoint! The empanadas were fresh, hot, and delicious. I tried the beef empanada and really enjoyed the flavorful filling. The pastry was light, flaky, and perfectly crisp. They also had a great selection of bottled drinks, so I tried a traditional purple corn drink. It was sweet, lightly spiced, and unlike anything I'd had before. It was a fun addition to the meal. The shop was very clean with cute décor, although seating is somewhat limited. The staff were friendly, gave great recommendations, and genuinely wanted us to have a great experience. Wow what a fun little hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Millcreek area (located diagonally from the Granite? Library, and next to a beauty supply store). The parking lot is very tight! There are a few spaces out front, which you end up having to back out into the main road, so be careful! There are some spots in the back lot, but trying to get out is a tight squeeze. I ended up parking across the street in the neighborhood and making my way to the crosswalk and over. The space inside is tight too. There isn't much sitting space; just a long bench with maybe 5 seats if you're trying to dine in. But it is a cute space, and the empanadas are worth the visit. I tried the chicken Gallina and chicken empanadas (savory) and got the applie pie and peach empanadas for dessert. I loved both of my savory empanadas!!!!! Omg I want to come in and try all the flavors. Both dessert empanadas were great, but the apple pie was my fave with the extra crunch on top. Oh my... I was in heaven! I will also say that the hours are a little wonky and it's hard to make it on time, if you're commuting, but worth it! The hours they keep are due to sometimes being at different markets. But overall I loved my experience and will be back for more! read more

Don't you just love it when you find incredible comestibles made with love by super nice people? THE best empanada in Northern America (imo). I cannot say enough about the tasty fillings, flakey pastry and the out-of-this-world cilantro/jalapeño sauce, all made fresh. I recently succumbed to gluten issues and was thrilled by their gluten-free options. The dessert pies are delicious as well. The proprietors and staff are super personable and enthusiastic. Just put it like this; I went to their brick and mortar on a day that they had closed around 5 which is before their posted time of 6 p.m. and was crushed after craving all day. Another customer drove up, I looked at them, shook my head and they had a similar expression. Follow their IG as they are at farmer's markets and maker pop ups. The pies travel well and reheat nicely. And purchase a jar of the cilantro-jalapeño sauce; it lasts forever, is good on everything. I use it like salsa on eggs. Add it to Alfredo sauce for pasta or just whisk in some olive oil for pesto style. read more

I chose the streak empanada and it was good. I'm glad it was big and filling. I got the green sauce which went well with it. They also have big glass bottles of coke which I got for my drink. The inside is small and not much seating. They have a super small parking lot too. read more

This place is a hidden gem! The service is great! My first time in they explained the flavors and recommended their favorite. I also was able to try a Peruvian purple corn juice drink and it was delicious! Not too sweet and honestly reminded me of grape juice. The empeñada was delicious and had a chicken filling. The large size is enough for 2 or 3 people depending on how much you want. There's also two salsas to pair it with I opted for the mild. I will definitely be back! read more

I discovered Empanadas801 at a recent market-they were on the go-and the entire room was filled with the delicious fragrance of their product. As luck would have it, I was a little hungry anyway and I made a beeline for their booth. I was surprised by how large the empanadas are. I've used to a modest sized option, but these are gargantuan. The flavor was amazing and I was not able to finish it (but I did wrap it up and save it for later.) If you have a chance to visit, be sure to do it! You won't be disappointed. read more

Delicious! Tried the ham and cheese at Gardner Village during Witchfest. The empanada dough is flaky and flavorful even after sitting in the warmer for who knows how long. The filling was of course delicious (hard to mess up ham and cheese). I'd try the chicken next time based on the owner's recommendation. read more
