One of the best massages I've had and highly recommend Marc for anyone that is looking for a massage therapist. He has magic arms and hands that makes the tension, knots, and stress go away. It's not a trigger point massage where I'd scream like a baby. It's more firm pressure of the pain points to release the tension/knots. He doesn't use much lotion, so at least you don't leave smelly or oily. The room at the spa is warm, soft lighting, and nice music. Easy parking and is located in Old Town Gaithersburg. Marc is the best massage therapist I've ever worked with. Marc combines many types of massage techniques into his sessions, but he specializes in myofascial release massage, which I had not heard of before working with Marc, but am now a big fan. His fees are very reasonable and worth every penny. I discovered Marc through Groupon and made an appointment (for a 60-minute massage) via email. He was very responsive and accommodating of my schedule. Marc's studio is conveniently located in downtown Gaithersburg inside a salon. There is free parking right outside of the building. At my first appointment, Marc met me in the lobby of the salon and asked me to complete a health inventory. I followed him to his studio where we met to review any problem areas and what I was hoping to get out of a massage. During the massage, Marc addressed each of the areas I brought to his attention, and I left the massage feeling taller, lighter, and generally relaxed. Marc met me afterwards to talk about the massage and to see if I was interested in booking another appointment. Since that first massage a few months ago, I've been seeing Marc about once a month for 90 minute sessions and each massage is better than the previous one. Marc meets with me prior to each massage to see if there are any new issues since my last visit, and he always customizes his massages to the areas I've described to him. As a result, I feel great and have improved my posture. I highly recommend Marc to anyone looking for a great massage therapist. read more

I'm fortunate enough to work for a company that has Marc Rubman, lead therapist of Rubman Massage Therapy services, come to our office every two weeks to give therapeutic, moan-inducing chair massages. Though I've not actually set foot in their facilities, I can attest to the fact that their off-site services are simply wonderful. Marc Rubman comes to our office with the massage chair which is super convenient because we can be fully-clothed and remain seated upright. The sessions are either 15 or 30 minutes (and I'm not sure my co-workers would love to be covering my phones for more than that while I'm being massaged..haha) and we are charged $1/minute + $5; (so a 30 min massage would be $35). A combination of acupressure and Swedish massage techniques are used to relieve tension in the back, neck and shoulders. When I had my first in-office massage, I thought that Marc wasn't using enough pressure. A few more minutes into it, I totally changed my mind. His hands and arms are stronger than you realize at first and soon, you'll be having this internal struggle to hold in the moans of pleasure/pain while knotted muscles are loosened. It's the crazy kind of massage that hurts a bit but feels so good and you just keep coming back for more. I still have loyalties to my massage therapist at Aveda and the little Chinese Acupressure place in Georgetown, but when the massage therapist is coming to YOU in your office...perhaps it's time to re-align my loyalty arrangements. read more

I came here with a Home Run purchase. I'll admit I was a little uneasy entering a chiropractor office after hours at night with just me and the therapist, who I never met, since I'm a woman, in my 20s but I had no reason to be uneasy... Marc has gentle but firm pressure. There was a bit of skin friction as he didn't use a much lotion and some of his grips were a little too light or odd, but overall it was a good massage and professionally done (also a little hot...). It also helps that he has a nice voice to listen to... Some of the massage was even sensual. He left me on my front the whole time for the hour which I wasn't used to. Usually I get flipped around at some point. Also, I didn't notice a considerable difference with my back pain alleviation; this was the reason I came in. I think the room we were in was an X-ray room, but the table and head rest were very comfortable, and so were the sheets. There was dimly lit candles and gentle music playing in the dark room. Under the right circumstances it would definitely seem like a story out of a particular magazine that will remain nameless. I've had better masseuses but he did a good job. It was worth what I paid from HomeRun but not sure if I'd return at full price. read more

The first time I was scheduled for a massage with Marc, I got stuck in a snowstorm and got to his office more than an hour late! He was very patient and understanding and he kindly offered to re-schedule me for a later date. When I returned, I was very impressed with the myofascial release massage he gave me. My previous massage therapists have always been TOO gentle with their touch. But Marc's hands were strong, he used a comfortable firm pressure, and the massage felt great on the knots and tension in my back. The massage was very methodical, as a therapeutic massage should be! Also, Marc was friendly and professional. He did not chat during the massage, but he encouraged me to communicate with him if I needed anything. The massage room is an x-ray/exam room in a spinal wellness center. When I arrived, there were lots of physical therapy clients working on exercises, etc. in the main part of the center. However, Marc does a good job of creating a quiet, calm, and relaxing environment for the massage. He plays calming music, turns off the overhead lights, uses a heater and blankets to warm the massage table, and scatters LED candles throughout the room. I wasn't bothered by any of the sounds/activity from the PT clients outside. I would highly recommend routine massages with Marc for anyone suffering from tightness or soreness in their neck, shoulders, or back. My first massage felt great and I'm confident that repeated visits to Marc will help relieve these chronic conditions for me! read more

Truly one of the best massages, if not the best, I've ever had. I booked an appointment with Marc through LivingSocial, due to some terrible back pain I'd been having on my right side after battling a chest cold. Marc met me on a Sunday evening (which most therapists wouldn't do!) and gave me an extra half hour because he found all kinds of spots in my shoulders and back that needed the help. While I don't have much of a budget for massages, this is the kind of place that definitely would make me think about saving up my pennies for a repeat visit. Thank you Marc! read more

Totally the best massage I have every had!! I bought it as a groupon so was expecting the typical swedish massage. Marc had health and pain paperwork to fill out before he started so I figured that this was different. He explained that his was a myofacial release massage and thus different than the swedish massages that I had had. I actually feel like it is a combination of massage and chiropractic without all of the joint popping that scares me in chiropractic. I have had pain in my left hip for almost a year. Figured that I am 56 and overweight and that it is just the way life is. Did not even mention it to Marc b/c I am so used to living with it. I had even mentioned it to my primary care doctor in July as I had to limp for a bit after sitting for a while. Could not sleep on my side all night as I was used to due to pain. Surprise! Surprise! After my massage from Marc my pain is gone. I am in such shock. I had no idea. I knew the massage was different, seeming to use pressure points and stretching, but I had no idea. I am totally a fan and hope he never leaves. Already scheduled my next session. It is a little more expensive than those other massages but here I had been thinking I was heading for a hip replacement and am now pain free. What a gift!. My mom lives in NC. I bought a LivingSocial deal for a 1 hour massage at Rubman Massage Therapy. I really wasn't sure what to expect based on the Yelp reviews, but with a name like "Rubman" he was either going to be really good at his trade or a real creeper. :p thankfully he was excellent. Very accommodating personality that puts you at ease right away. His technique uses Myofascial release to treat of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. While the pressure was firm, it never felt painful in that I can't breathe sort of way. He found the pain points and by putting pressure on them strategically the muscles released tension. At times I would have preferred more pressure all over, and maybe even more time pressing those particularly tight areas- next time I will speak up about it. Another thing I would request in the future is more oil to be used because at times it did feel like there was a bit too much friction. But I think that may be just my personal preference. I had my massage at Aurelia salon and spa - where I guess he sometimes works. This space was up a set of winding stairs and was very peaceful and relaxing with music and candles. I definitely felt the stress of my day melting away. One more plus- usually I am freezing during my massages. I was so comfortable - the temperature was just right. It's hard to relax when you are shivering- so I really appreciated the warmth. I would definitely recommend him to others and I look forward to scheduling another visit in the near future. read more

I just completed a massage with Marc and it was the best one I've ever had. I received one around once a year for the last ten years, and this was was more effective than any at addressing underlying issues. The pressure is firm, which I like (and said I could handle), and sustained. As far as personality is concerned, Marc is friendly but not overbearing or talkative and puts one at ease.
