The place was PACKED so I feel it would be better to let guests know there's an hour wait BEFORE seating them at a table & taking the order. We waited an hour before getting our food. I wouldn't have minded as much if the food was great but the chicken sandwich was overcooked and hard and the fries were soft droopy and not crispy! On the other hand my husband enjoyed his breakfast especially the surprise fried green tomato! The waitress was exceptional & super friendly. The place was clean with clean restrooms. The food was good per usual, but geez- the wait! We put our name on the list before arriving to the restaurant so no issue there. When we sat down, our server greeted us and offered drinks immediately- no issue there. But then... we waited about 30-45 mins just to get our appetizer and then another 30 for our food. The waitress did apologize many times and let us know how many orders were ahead of ours and we overheard her telling the table next to ours that most of the kitchen staff had called out so they were very backed up. Overall the experience wasn't terrible because we were patient and not famished. I love Ruby Slipper and have been waiting to try the newest one. Joined the Waitlist on the way and we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Instead of my usual flight mimosa, I tried one of the drink specials, the Boo Rita! It did not disappoint! We had the Loaded tots and OMG they were amazing! The braised pork was tender and juicy and the tots and sauce were delicious. We did try another Fall special, the Costa Rican breakfast. I'd have to give it a 7 out of 10. The rice was a bit undercooked but the chorizo sausage was amazing. The service was good. Server was friendly and attentive. This definitely is not a place to go if you don't like loud restaurants. So.... My partner LOVES pancakes and we are at Target which is super close so it was his pick. The last time we were here he had a decent entree and I had fries because they ran out of burgers. I'm not much of a breakfast fan but it was a nice fall morning. The last time I was here it was freezing and I'm typically hot natured but it was cold! Same thing today. It was so cold we asked to move outside. Only one table left and the top rocked bath and forth. One of us had to hold the table still while the other cut their food. I ordered the Loaded Tots with pork, cheese, bacon. They came out in a round bowl that had grease leaking out of the dish. Truly disgusting - WET TOTS with grease and broth everywhere. I couldn't get past the wet tots. The server brought our entrees and noticed- points for that. He took them He delivered our entrees, I had biscuits and gravy, it came with eggs and bacon. There was VERY little gravy and the biscuits were so tough you had to use a knife to cut them. Microwaved? Probably because I've never had biscuits you had to saw through. His pancakes? Really good, light, link sausage so tough and overcooked it must have been cooked and reheated to order. Back to my biscuits - just okay, dry, made the mistake of taking a bite and realized it was incredibly undercooked. We were tired of battling the table, just decided to get his to go. Server mentioned it to the manager after we paid. She was super nice, professional and comped our mail which we had already paid in cash. Bill was $53, gave the server $65. Manager told server to just give our money back and she comped it all. I made sure to tell the server to keep his tip. I gave the server (2) 20's and 2 fives. She was upbeat and super friendly which started our experience start off great! She was knowledgeable about their menu and answered all of our questions. She recommended a few items based on my husband's seafood allergy and made it her responsibility to point of things he would enjoy. We ended up going with all of her recommendations because it was out of our norm. The items recommended were definitely flavorful which we expect when we venture to one of the establishments. We had about a 10 mintue wait after ordering to receive our appetizers which was pretty good. After finishing our first courses, it took about 10 minutes after picking up the dishes to receive our order. This was lighting fast conconsidering the atmosphere of many lively people filling up majority of the seats. The food temperatures were great and everything was correct. She made sure to catch refills before they were completely gone and checked in at a comfortable pace. I will definitely be back to this location as I have come to prefer it over the others due to the no wait. When I return I'll opt offer an inside location and review that space as well. I absolutely love breakfast/brunch so based on the reviews, I was excited for a good experience and good food. The first red flag and a major one at that.... fake eggs. How can a breakfast restaurant serve fake eggs? You can tell as soon as the plate hit the table. They looked like mealy, cheap hotel continental breakfast eggs. I asked the waitress if they use real eggs and she said "yes we do, they come already scrambled in a bag, but if you wanted crack eggs you should have asked for crack eggs." How would I know to ask? It's not noted on the menu or on any signs that I saw and who would ever think to ask a breakfast/brunch restaurant "do you serve real eggs?" Not to mention our biscuits were not hot, the white gravy had separated, they forgot the cream cheese drizzle on our cinnamon swirl pancake and the grossest part is the syrup container was coated in crusty, dried syrup with fresh syrup running down the front. We came in with a large party, and not only was the food out of this world, but we had the absolute pleasure of being served by Ronnie--who is, without question the best server we have ever had. We were staying at a local AirBnB in Kenner, so we bought some groceries and made breakfast there to save on money during our vacation in New Orleans. We had to check out of the AirBnB this past weekend on Saturday morning by 10 o'clock and we had 3 hours to spare before we headed to the airport. We were told again and again by our Lyft and Uber drivers that the Ruby Slipper was the place to go to for breakfast. We went there... and we're glad we took everyone's advice! We had all of our luggage with us and they were kind enough to watch it upfront for us while we ate. As new customers, we were greeted with a free appetizer of French toast bites. Those were so good, it made me want to slap my mom. I had never tried shrimp and grits before, so I ordered that, and it was quite lovely. The cane butter is where it's at!!! You have to put it on their homemade biscuits. Carolina, the hostess, was very friendly and accommodating. Our waitress, Rebecca, was very sweet and kind as well. The service and hospitality of this place was amazing for a little breakfast diner. We'll definitely be back to make a mattress out of those biscuits! read more
