Sometimes it's worth trusting your instincts instead of guest reviews and social media influencers. That was definitely the case with breakfast this morning. After reading years-old mixed reviews and finding very little recent information, I decided to give Anita's Grill a chance. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my entire two-week trip. For me, it checked every box. It's wheelchair accessible, easy to reach by public transportation, serves fantastic food, and delivers warm, attentive service. Before heading over, I called to confirm accessibility. The woman who answered not only assured me they were accessible but said she'd keep an eye out for my arrival. She wasn't kidding. When I arrived, not one but two staff members came to the entrance to welcome me and help guide me inside. The restaurant has the feel of a classic neighborhood diner, comfortable, unpretentious, and serving the kind of food that keeps people coming back. After hearing so many people rave about the pancakes, I had to try them. Paired with cheesy grits, tea, and milk, the breakfast is outstanding. Every bite lives up to the hype. My server, Kia, is easily one of the best I've had anywhere in New Orleans. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, she makes an already great meal even better. Then came the biggest surprise of all: the bill. It was the least expensive meal I've had during nearly two weeks in New Orleans, yet it ranks among the very best. Outstanding food, exceptional service, great value, and easy accessibility. That's hard to beat. Had I discovered Anita's Grill earlier, it would have become my regular breakfast stop without question. It has risen to the top of my list and left the competition behind. Anita's has that local feel and you have the sense many locals go there for a quick meal. I had the pork chop sandwich which is a whole pork chop that is deliciously seasoned. There should be a warning with this sandwich that it comes bone in so as you chomp down- teeth beware. Service is pleasant with an about town vibe. You can learn the local gossip and hear about the current city government corruption all while downing and sandwich. The fries were ok but the sandwich was unique. read more

We visited Anita's fresh off the plane today and the food and experience was fantastic! The food was fresh and truly delicious. The new location is really nice and our server, Ms. Catherine, was so patient and helpful! She made choosing good options for the kids a little less hectic and she was so kind. Love the red plates!! they really highlight the awesome food. I had sausage gravy on very light biscuits! plenty of sausage! Hubby got a traditional French toast plus eggs and bacon. All solid food and served by delightful wait staff who checked back on us. Super close to bus and trolley lines and the World War II museum. read more

This was my 1st time at Anita's..I know I know, even when they were on Tulane I never been..I went Saturday morning around 8:30a-9a and they did not disappoint! I ordered the Waffle breakfast with bacon, grits & egg whites & she ordered the pork breakfast grilled with cheese grits, scrambled eggs, & toast..of course her eyes was bigger than her stomach and she added a pancake lol..our waitress was Deana if thats how you spell it..she was so sweet fr! The restaurant was clean & it was a sit where you want type of place..now parking is another topic bc aint none lol granted I found a spot but parking is hard..back to the food, it came out hot & fresh! The pork chop was well seasoned tooThe waffle was super thick..honestly if you get a waffle you dont need nothing else..thicker than a snicker & good..the sweet tea was on point! Baby got an orange juice but if yall been reading my reviews you know I don't do orange juice but it came in a bottle it wasn't like freshly squeezed or anything..the prices were so reasonable! Very disappointed. Went for breakfast. Only two other customers but my order took 20 minutes. Coffee was terrible. Ordered eggs over easy with hash browns and ham. Eggs were scrambled , hash browns and ham did not taste good. Bill was $17 ! Poor service and bad food. read more

The service was horrible! Delly, my server, was more concerned with flirting with drunken male patrons than taking my order. The meal came with a salad and toast which I had to ask for twice, but never received. The 8 oz hamburger sirloin had a cold pink center, which could not have been cooked to the required temperature of 160 degrees. Luckily I am not on a sodium restricted diet as the entire plate was over salted. I was craving fried pork chops this morning and no one fries them better than Anita's Grill. This was my first time at the new location. It seems as though they are still working out the kinks even though this is a well established restaurant. There were people waiting over an hour for their food, and having to remind the staff over and over that they still haven't received it. Some of the staff needs more training on not only working the register, but also customer service. I only ordered two fried pork chops and it took them an hour for it to be ready, and it was like they never put my order in. A couple of the staff were arguing with each other in front of customers. When my order was finally ready they prepared it for dining in when I ordered out. They started boxing it up and then they kept asking who took my order which to me at that point was not relevant because I only wanted my food. The only reason I gave two stars was because everyone was apologetic about how long I had to wait. Also, the younger guy working there started to walk over asking if anyone needed something to drink. I wish I would've gotten his name. If it weren't for those things it would have been one start since you can't give zero. I won't be back to Anita's grill for a while. Hopefully when I do go back they would've worked out all these issues. Definitely makes me miss the old location. read more

Disappointed in the Experience at Anita's Grill I stopped by Anita's Grill today, a well-known spot in New Orleans, expecting good food and service. What I witnessed instead was truly upsetting. An elderly man placed an order and wasn't happy with his meal. The waiter respectfully brought the plate back to the owner to explain the issue. The owner , unaware that several business owners were sitting at the counter, responded loudly and rudely: "If they don't like what we offer here, they can go somewhere else." That type of attitude--especially toward our elders--is unacceptable. It's not what you do, it's how you do it. People are spending $20-$30 on breakfast, and deserve to be treated with basic respect. When we spoke to Dwana, who has been working at Anita's Grill for years, instead of acknowledging the issue, she tried to justify the chef's behavior. Ms. Dwana, you gotta learn how to speak to people as well--you never know who you're talking to, especially in today's world. That's a problem. There's no excuse for dismissing or disrespecting paying customers, especially seniors. This isn't 1998. It's 2025. Social media and reviews matter now more than ever. Businesses that don't respect their customers will lose them--and their reputation. To Anita's Grill: Do better. Our community deserves it. read more

Decided to try the new restaurant out since we were in the area. food quality was still the as good but my grits was lukewarm instead of hot. it appears to have been put on plate before other items were added. My wife had liver and grits which was very good too. Will definitely go back. read more

Today was our first chance to experience Anita's, and it wasn't pleasant. First off, the Owners were present, but totally unaware of the requirements needed to run an early morning restaurant operation. Chaos and pandemonium was being served. We waited ten minutes before any wait staff approached our table of 4, and only after my Wife had to go up and request it. Your staff was to busy, arguing openly, about sectional assignments. The old saying goes, "first impressions are lasting", does apply here and it's not pretty. The food and its presentation were deplorable! Greasy bacon, the ham looks like came from Winn Dixie and thrown on a flat top grille and singed. All four orders came out cold and not very well presented. That was after waiting 45 minutes...WHAT! I realize the Owners are Firemen, but stay in your league, Guys. Get yourselves a person with F & B background to manage the operation and a Professional Short Order Cook and not an inexperienced cook that is totally overwhelmed. It will be worth it. You'll save money and not lose business. You are Owners, get out of the way...and Own! Your only fooling yourselves and will soon be gone. Can't say we'll ever be back. So, Good Luck! read more
