I came here a few months back, when they first opened and I found my experience pretty good. I came in on a weekday morning, so it was less crowded and had parking in the lot. It is a large space with a long bar as you walk in. When I went, the host/tess was located all the way inside the restaurant, so you walk the length of the restaurant to be greeted and seated by the host. I made my way down to her and she seated me right away. I asked for a water and an Irish coffee. She was not sure they had the glassware for an Irish coffee, but she checked with the bartender. And he was able to conjure up something as I was the first person to ask for one. I was a little surprised by that since they offer Irish breakfasts, but either way, I was very appreciative of his going above and beyond for me to make it work. He even asked which whiskey I wanted and had to search for some brown sugar for me. Very accommodating. The Irish breakfast came out and it was so good. The chef came out to speak with me too, I let him know I loved everything but the beans. He mentioned he was trying it out, as it is authentic, but knows it could be tweaked. I did love the marmalade, homemade marmalade on the dish, so good! I enjoyed the sausage - bangers and pudding - as well. So authentic and good! I felt like I was back in Ireland. Just needed some sheep to bahhh by. I do wish the hostess/waitress would have checked in on me more, my water was never refilled and I needed napkins as I had sticky fingers from that amazing marmalade jam. I plan to come back and bring some friends or out of friends, as I miss my Peppermill and this restaurant, I find, is a pretty good replacement - with Irish coffees and all. And proceeds go towards charity. How great is that! I hope they made the Irish coffee a permanent option on the menu before I come back! read more

The food was excellent. We are visiting from Louisville, Kentucky and my husband is from New Orleans. As soon as they saw the red beans and rice he was sold. And the red beans and rice were delicious. The cornbread was very moist. I loved my eggs Benedict. His red beans and rice came with a side dish and he ordered the salad. He loved the dressing. The food was delicious. The service is limited. You order at the counter. You carry your drinks to your table. There are self serve coffee refills. The coffee was better than average for a small restaurant. The woman who took our order was very friendly and happily refilled my coffee for me before I noticed the self serve station. Being from the southwest I rarely eat grits but these were very good. read more

Saint Mary's Restaurant is a new restaurant that opened on West Metairie. Their business model helps those with developmental disabilities. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and inviting, and the staff couldn't be nicer--genuinely friendly, attentive, and happy to make sure you're taken care of. The food was outstanding. The Orange Julius was better than the ones they used to have a Lakeside. The grillades and grits were phenomenal. Tender, flavorful with perfectly cooked grits. This was our first time here and it was delicious. The staff was super friendly and explained what St. Mary's Restaurant is all about. 15% of the proceeds go towards St. Mary's School for special needs. This is a family run business and I'm so glad we decided to try them out this morning. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and they have a full service bar to mix up any drink you like. Our waitress Marcy was phenomenal. We got a Bloody Mary and an Irish coffee which were both delicious. The grits & grillades made me feel like I was back at home in my mommas kitchen. The Cajun Benny was so good. Everything came out super hot and fresh. We will definitely be back to try out their dinner menu next time. read more

Not sure how the reviews are so good. I had breakfast on several occasion's. I wanted to give it a chance because of the benefit to charity. The orders were mixed up, and the breakfast omelette was not good and looked like it was topped with the cheap plastic wrapped cheese and had little meat. Biscuits and coffee were cold. I wasn't impressed to say the least. But I haven't experienced lunch or dinner. Not sure if I want to. read more

This place deserves more than 5 stars. From the greeting and the seating to the service and the attention to detail. This neighborhood gem should be packed all the time. Ambiance. My sister and I had breakfast here before it was great food and service. We decided a couple of weeks after to bring the kids after church one Sunday, why did we do That. It was really busy don't get me wrong we was prepared we knew it would be a wait. When we got there we waited at least an hour to be seated but we did notice customers that came in after us was given menus mind you we did not get any menus. Finally our table was ready but it was being wiped while we stood there in the middle of the restaurant waiting. Finally we was seated without any menus. when our waitress arrived she took our drink Order and noticed we didn't have any menus. While she prepared our drinks an older white man came to the table with the menus mine was damn near thrown in my face very rude. I should've gotten up then and left but I did try to brush it off. Then I noticed he had gone on the other side of the restaurant where I noticed him staring at me with this nasty stare. We Placed our food order waited at least another hour and a half food never arrived. We did notice other customers being seated after our arrival place there orders and food came right out. It was very upsetting kids had waited all that time never got there food. After waiting so long we decided to leave. Moral of the story we was given a clear message to never return. read more

We very enjoyed our make your own omelette with ham, tomatoes, spinach and cheese as well as the biscuit with their homemade jelly. Our cheese grits were so delicious, too! I went there for the Irish Breakfast with a friend who got it is well. We ordered at the counter got drinks then took a table. It wasn't that crowded but a lot of the tables didn't have food, it was right at lunchtime. We waited for 35 minutes for our breakfast and when we got it everything was cold. Cold eggs, cold ham, cold puddings, mushrooms cold, and the beans even had a chill to them. A food runner came over and asked how was everything and I said " You know we waited over 30 minutes and all our food is cold." She said she would tell the kitchen and then walk over to the bar where she sat down and talked to another member of the staff. No one ever approached us at all. We left more them half of this $20 breakfast and talked about what a shame it was. Doubt I would go back again. read more

Had the chicken cracklings as an appetizer and it was really good. Place has a full bar to make any drink you'd like. Got the steak frites and smoked chicken pita sandwich, both were very good. My wife and I came n for lunch. The daily special was fish and chips. Since we both love good fish and chips we decided to give it a try. The portion was generous. I've had many breakfasts at different restaurants around Metairie and New Orleans. This place is one of the newest (maybe a month since opening), besides having phenomenal food, it has a special cause behind its function. The restaurant is named for the autism facility where one of the owner's son lives. A percentage of the proceeds go to support this home and program, so any restaurant (in my affordability range) that supports and advocates for any lifelong condition. read more
