For the second time in about a month I found myself needing to replace a tire on my vehicle. For me, Rich is the go-to. Drive up, hop out, and they make it happen like NASCAR. Well, not exactly like nascar. Admittedly, I've seen some variations in pricing. I got a brand new tire last month for 95. Same tire this month cost 104. According to my normal tire guy (not affiliated with this shop and not local to the area) it's a good tire and I got a good deal on it. Honestly, I didn't sweat it (the price change) because I asked for the tires to be shifted (so the axles would match) and I figured hey, I'd pay $9 bucks for that. Of course he called it free so had I not asked for that there would have been a $9 difference in the same product. No bueno. But like I said, no complaints here. They were always pretty personable with me. Never nasty. The gentleman actually took great care when removing and replacing items from my trunk after swapping out the spare I had on. Horrible customer service. Went there today (a rainy day) seeking assistance with adding air to ONE of my tires. Both manager and owner told me no they don't help people in the rain - (note that I saw an employee going in and out wearing full rain gear). Manager told me NO to go do it myself or go next door to the gas station, I nicely requested help as I am currently injured and was wearing a very visible leg brace, they said they did not care about my disability and refused to help in anyway. A young man/ employee who was outside offered to help me and as he started doing so the manager ordered him to stop or he'd get in trouble. Completely disappointed, shocked and disgusted... I went down the street to Trenton Tire and was assisted immediately with respect and great customer service. They themselves were even shocked that no one at Ruch Tire would even offer assistance to a disabled customer. Take your business to TRENTON TIRE. read more

I needed two new back tires. No one in my area had them in stock. Ruch Tire was able to get the tires the very next day. They let me know they were in, so I stopped by the shop an hour later. The crew took off my old tires, put the new ones on the rims, balanced them, and installed them, all in less than 30 minutes. They also checked the air in my front tires. Mike was especially helpful. This is the sort of place my grandfather would have taken me for tires. They just seem to do things right. You pull in and someone is right there to figure out what you need. The tires come off your car and go inside for mounting and balancing almost before you can find a good magazine to read. I can't speak to their tire prices, as I always buy my own, but their mounting fees were some of the cheapest in the area. They also have used tires at craigslist prices, without the sketchyness of craigslist. I was in and out in 40 minutes. Contrast this with the other places, especially the chains stores where it seems to take over an hour even if you're the only one at the shop. They also didn't do any of the upselling that the other places do. I'm perfectly capable of changing an airfilter and I'm never going to pay the insane marked up price for one. Ruch Tire does exactly what I expect of them, no more, no less. That seems to be a rare characteristic these days, and it's probably why they have been in business for so long. read more

I'm a bit shocked by all of the negative reviews. I've been using Ruch Tires for years and have always been very pleased with the service and quality. Tires are the embodiment of blind faith in the automotive realm: you're dealing with the promises of elected officials and public utilities to keep the roads smooth (haha), mother nature, as well as your own driving ability, which may be just fine, but given the unknowns of road conditions, tires can be a bit of a crap shoot. I somewhat stupidly bought a used car with low profile tires back in 2013, and with the road conditions in this part of NJ, I am going through tires on a fairly regular basis, which is very distressing. Back in December, I got a flat (my fourth in that car), and headed to Ruch for a new tire, but the man working on my car very sympathetically told me that my rim had cracked; the tire was ok. He scoured the back lot for a rim that matched, to no avail, and sent me on my way. I had the rim repaired elsewhere (it seemed like the best option at the time), and went back to Ruch for the tire, which cost about $50, with labor. I got a used tire because my car is old and I've already wasted enough money on new tires. I got another flat near Anthony's Pizza on S. Broad in Hamilton a couple weeks ago; it was the same tire I just had replaced in December, and my heart sank. Maybe the rim repair didn't hold up? I decided I was done with these rims, and did my research to see about getting smaller rims and new, higher profile tires, so I wouldn't have to go through this bullcrap so frequently. I called several places about rims, and checked craigslist, and the prices were daunting, or I never heard back after the "I'll check to see if we have that," or the seller only had 3 rims. And I heard plenty of concern about my speedometer and brakes functioning differently if I switched. Which I doubted as long as the overall diameter of the rim+tire was the same as my existing set up. But I was going into 2 weeks on the spare, and given my track record, could get another freakin' flat any day now, so I just headed to Ruch this morning to have them check. The rim was fine. Whew. I had the option of a new or used tire, and clearly, I opted for the used tire, since I'll probably be back within 6 months (unless the roads are miraculously repaired -- doubtful, given how PSE&G left the alley behind my work office; an alley I need to use to access parking -- it is unbelievably bad). I had a delightful conversation with an 81-year-old woman while we both waited for the Ruch team to take care of our tires. A total of 5 tires between 2 tire guys, were installed within a half hour. Two happy customers. I spent $53.30 with tax. I know I'll be back again, unfortunately, but I'm really pleased to get such good service from Ruch. read more

I've been going to Ruch's since I was in high school in the seventies. I always thought they were OK with their prices. Not the highest, not the cheapest. Today I loaded up 4 tires and 4 rims in the back of my van and drove to Ruch's to get the tires mounted on the rims, wheels and tires balanced and new valves. I did not want them mounted on the vehicle, they are a spare set. The sign above the cashier window had a price of $25 per tire to mount. I assumed that would include balancing also. Once the fellow who was the only one working on cars got done with a previous customer he followed me out to the van to inspect the tires and rims. He then stated the price to do the work would be $140. When I mentioned the sign stated $25 for 17 " wheels which these were. He said that there were extras like tax. I reminded him the NJ sales tax was less than 7 percent. Total should be about $110. I closed the van door and drove to another tire place where they did everything for $89. It took them 30 minutes. After going to Ruch's for 40 years, I think I'm done. I think having to pay $280 an hour to have 4 tires mounted, not even on the vehicle is a bit much. I like being a loyal customer and support small businesses but their customer service has always been less than friendly and this latest price gouge was too far. read more

I called in advance to schedule an appointment to purchase 4 new tires. I was told to come to the store pay up front and the process would take 3.5 hours for the car to be done. Upon my arrival George told me there was nothing he could do because it would take the tires 3 hours to get here. When I expressed Ahmed shared something different on the phone George was very unprofessional saying I should have never came at 1:30 on a Friday for a service and walked away from me. Due to the level of unprofessionalism I would never spend my money at this place of business. Ruch tires should be embarrassed to have such a rude employee greeting customers. It used to be good but is now useless. I have never been treated so poorly at a business. I wanted to get new wheels put on my vehicle and was told that they don't usually do that kind of work. AT A TIRE SHOP!!! I was told they would not do it and was then ignored. I can't express how badly this place has become. Please don't ease your time or money at this establishment. read more

Today after going through the hassles of waking up to a flat tire and ice, i called Ruch's Tire to inquire about the price of a single tire repair. I noticed that the gentleman(if i can call him that) sounded a bit agitated but still answered my question. When i arrived there there were other cars there (everyone had a flat tire this morning), i was met by a man i believe to be of Indian, Pakistan, Iraqi or Iranian descent. This was the same gentleman that i spoke to on the telephone, i identified myself, he informed me that my tire was a loss. My son told him about the spare tire underneath my vehicle, but the entire time this guy still seemed unusually agitated. Moving forward, was inside waiting for the replacement tire to be put on my van, when my son advised me to get a tire for the front of my van. I asked him to go outside to speak with the gentleman who was putting the tire on. The same guy who seemed agitated signaled for me to come up to pay for my tire when i told him that i was waiting for feedback from my son about purchasing another tire before my credit card was charged twice. The same agitated guy told me that he had a new tire for my car but i told him that i wanted another used tire. He kept talking about the darn new tire as if he ignored my request but i kept trying to ask him to wait to charge my card so that i could see if i needed the second tire. Since he kept talking i finally turned to him and asked him about the used tire. It was then the attitude escalated from him! He told me that: "since this is the fourth time telling me, what's the problem, i don't understand his language?" Now, i have worked with this same guy on many occasions so i didn't have a problem with his language. It is the fact that i didn't want my card charged twice as i told him for the umpteenth time! I saw my son walking back to the shop and i asked the guy about the used tire. He glared at me and swiped my card! My son was trying to tell me what was told to him by the gentleman working on my tire but couldn't because i was telling the guy that i wanted to wait. Long story short, the agitated guy said in a loud voice: "oh my God!" when i tried to talk to him about pricing. By then, i was upset and told him that i tried to stop him from running my card but he kept talking! He ignored me, slammed the receipt on the counter and told me to have a nice day! Wow, he had better be glad that i wasn't in a bad mood...very poor attitude with this company...will think twice before going there again. read more
