We waited for about 30 minutes. The line went by fast but what slowed it down were other patrons that couldn't decide what to order. I had the original and it was just divine. The Stroopwaffel was big, I had a hard time finishing it.
On a recent trip to Amsterdam my wife and I tried the Original Stroopwafel at Rudi's Original Stroopwafels. The snack was freshly made as you see the waffles pressed in front of you. The thin warm waffles were filled with a gooey caramel and had a nice cinnamon flavor. I can understand why this is a go to place in the city.
If you find yourself wandering through the Albert Cuyp Markt on a nice day, you cannot miss Rudi's Original Stroopwafels. While there is almost always a line, don't let that discourage you as it moves incredibly fast. At just 3 euros for an original or 4 euros for one with a decadent chocolate drizzle, it feels like an absolute steal for the quality you receive. Each stroopwafel is made fresh to order and served warm, creating a sensory experience that is far superior to anything you'd buy in a standard grocery store. The texture is where Rudi's truly shines, hitting that perfect balance of being sweet but not overly sugary. It is soft and chewy in the center with a very light, satisfying crunch on the outside. It is exactly the kind of treat that goes perfectly with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Beyond the fresh snacks, they also offer pre-packaged stroopwafels in beautiful decorative tins, which are ideal for bringing back home as high-quality souvenirs for friends and family. The staff at the stand are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience feel even more special. It's more than just a quick snack; it's a highlight of the market visit. Wow wow wow!! This stroopwafel was absolutely delicious! I'd heard great things about this place and had to try it out at Albert Cuyp Market. There are numerous stroopwafel stands, but this one had a massive line. It took about 10-15 minutes to get to the front. I ordered an original stroopwafel (3 euros) as well as a pack to take home (3.99 euros). You can watch them making it fresh right in front in you. It's incredibly warm and delicious! Highly recommend this spot for your stroopwafel cravings
My husband did a search for the best Stroopwafels and Rudis came up- so we set out for an adventure. It's about a 30 minute walk from where we are staying, but it is definitely worth it. It's on a street that is basically a market,- open every day. You can shop for coats, hats, mittens, scarves, probably anything you would need, get pretty much any kind of food that you are craving, and end up with the most delicious Stroopwafel.. This is the second time we have come here! We make a point to venture out to Rudi's when we are in Amsterdam- so tasty!! (my husband, and I think these are better than the ones you see all over the city and probably a little cheaper.) And, on top of all the goodness, the people who work there are very nice and friendly. They are funny, and the conversation is really enjoyable, and make you feel very welcome!!
One of the best stroopwafels I've had during my trip in Amsterdam. This one was not too sweet and also very affordable compared to some other spots in Amsterdam. Be sure to check their hours online because they are closed a few days out of the week!! I made the mistake of visiting on a Thursday and they were closed and came back around the next day and fortunately they were opened. It's a stall within the Albert Cuyp Markt so you can also check out other stalls while you're there. They have a line but it goes quick. They also have pre-packaged stroopwafels in case you'd like to bring some back as souvenirs. Staff are super kind and if you order one, they'll make you one in the spot! Try a fresh one - you won't regret it! :)
It was a long-awaited visit to the original stroopwafel shop! I've tried so many versions over the years--even the ones from Costco--and have always been a fan. I even tried the fresh ones from Hans Egstorf once, but honestly didn't like them (and they charge twice the price of Rudy's!). We arrived "early," around 10:50 a.m., before they officially opened, and there were already a few people in line. The father who founded this famous spot was such a gentleman--so kind and warm--and his son, who made my stroopwafels, was funny and just as friendly. We started with one original and one chocolate-dipped stroopwafel, plus a tin of pre-made ones to take home. After trying both, we preferred the original. We walked around a bit, then decided one tin just wasn't enough (lol), so we went back for another fresh original and another tin to bring home. By then, the line was long, but it moved super fast. I wouldn't say the fresh ones are necessarily better than the pre-made ones--they're just different. The fresh ones are warm and crispy, while the pre-made ones are cold and crispy, each with its own charm. With a nice cup of coffee or tea, both are absolutely delicious. All in all, I loved the whole experience and will definitely be back next time I'm in Amsterdam. The price of €3 is very reasonable too! Note to the neighboring vendors: one of you should seriously consider selling good tea, coffee, or hot chocolate to go with Rudy's stroopwafels instead of those ubiquitous t-shirts! Trust me--you'd do far better business. One needs a drink to go with these stroopwafels... otherwise, you might just choke from all that deliciousness!

Rudi's is located in Albert Cuyp Market so the hours are more limited, but it's worth planning your day around if you want a fresh stroopwafel from Rudi's. The price of one (3 euros, without the chocolate dip) is definitely on the pricier end, but the stroopwafels are the larger size and you can't beat a freshly made one. The 3 employees there worked quickly and the whole operation seemed quite efficient. Overall, fantastic tasting cookie, just be careful of the caramel it might drip since it's still warm

I made it a point to actually try a real stroopwafel spot, so I came to Rudi's Original Stroopwafels. This is located in Albert Cuyp Market. Got one Chocolate Stroopwafel with Excellent Chocolate Topping. So soft and oh so sweet! Definitely better than the stroopwafels you'll find at a supermarket. And in case you are wondering what makes their chocolate topping "excellent," it's because it's "made with love!"

According to the internet: Stroopwafel is a delicious Dutch cookie that looks like a small waffle. Each is filled with a spiced buttery caramel syrup. The Dutch word for this is stroop. Hence, the name of this cookie means syrup waffle. The line was long, but it moved quickly. Comes out hot fresh off the griddle, but cools off pretty quickly. This little stall has quite the following, drawing a crowd, and entertaining guests with bositerious personality from the hosts as everyone waited in line. Solid choice if in the area.

The workers are making one thing only so they can keep churning fresh stroopwafels. For the fresh ones, you can choose to have it half-dipped in chocolate but I wanted to try the original to taste it as it is. So good, especially when it's warm! It's got a slight crunchy but it's also soft at the same time. Try your best to hold it horizontal or else the caramel in between will slowly ooze out from the bottom. You can also buy pre-packaged stroopwafels to bring home as gifts! 3 packs for 10 euros is a pretty decent deal and if you want to present it nicely or protect it from being smashed, you can also purchase a tin can for each pack. Makes a great souvenir for friends and family!
Don't even bother going anywhere else. You'll be disappointed just like we were and wish you would've gone here several times instead. The lines move quickly and are worth the wait. Rudi's is truly the best. The waffle itself is thicker and has a nice spiced flavor to it. The caramel filling isn't overly sweet and the service is exceptional. It's simple, served on a napkin and you're told it's piping hot and to keep it flat. They'll even put chocolate spread on one half if you want. They accept card and be sure to pick up a few pre-packed bundles of their smaller stroopwafels as gifts (or to eat on a train ride to Belgium like we did). read more

Had to try this while strolling down one of Amsterdam's larger markets. Line was not too long and moved very quickly as the main options were original or chocolate. It's ~3 euro for the original. Made fresh right in front of you. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great place for a quick snack when checking out the different vendors in this lively outdoor market! read more

Freshly made on the spot. You wait in line, but the line moves along, then order and pay at the counter. Plain stroop, with chocolate, or premade tins to go. We did plain so we could really taste the flavors. After you pay you then tell the waffle guy which you ordered and he makes it for you while you watch. The staff are super fun and friendly. They make you feel special when ordering. They also advise you how to eat so you don't get burnt and so you don't drip the hot caramel off the sides of the waffle. There were so many places selling fresh stroopwafels and we tried several of them - all were delicious. But the best stroopwafel we had in Amsterdam was from Rudi's! They have a stall in the market (Google Maps led us directly to them), not a storefront. There was a decent line when we got there, but the guys here know what they're doing - the line moved very quickly. We got one of each of the fresh stroopwafels (original and chocolate coated, which is the original with half of it coated in chocolate). They make it right in front of you and despite being super busy, are so much fun to chat with as well. Being they're made fresh, they are served hot and gooey - they do not skimp on the caramel at all! Eating it on the go was messy, but so worth it! They were also the cheapest fresh stroopwafels we had and they accept cash and card. I wish we could have had them again before leaving the city, but between our ticketed events/sightseeing and their open days/hours, it didn't work out. But this will definitely be on our list when we're back! read more
worth the hype and worth the wait in line. i got there more or less when they opened and probably took 10 mins to get mine. as they advise, there's really no difference in what you pick to bring home with you. stroopwafels, if not fresh, are all going to be more or less the same. the magic is in the immediate, hot, freshly made ones, and this place delivers. listen to their instructions and keep it flat for a bit, and don't indulge until it's cooled a tad. i burned my lips so you don't have to. you're in the busy street of the market, and so once you have your wafel, mosey around the corner with your coffee (get prior! drip at scandanavian embassy is perfect!) and find a bench to people watch. perfect read more

I regret getting a stroopwafel from anywhere else. Rudi's is the best and comes at the best price as well! Rudi's is located in the Albert Cuyp Market. Follow the smell and the line! The line moves very quickly though. They make the stroopwafel fresh right in front of you, so you know you're getting something delicious! You can get a plain stroop or one with chocolate slathered on. Grab a few tins to go to take home some stroops for your loved ones at home (if they make it that far!) read more

After trying several Stroopwafels around the city, I think I would say Rudi's was my personal favorite! There was a fairly long line but it moves at a decent pace, so don't worry! They have ready-to-go packaged stroopwafels for souvenirs, or maybe extras for yourself if you liked them so much! There was a deal to buy 3 of those packages for 10 EUR, or you could buy the tin can packaging for 6.99 EUR and one packaged stroopwafel. For fresh options, you can pick between original or a chocolate covered stroopwafel. I wanted the original to taste it as it is, and WOW it is so delicious fresh! The outside wafer is crisp, and the inside is oozy and warm. They warn you to keep the stroopwafel flat, as any turning or flipping will cause the filling and the stroopwafel to fall over! Would come back the next time I visit Amsterdam! read more
When in Amsterdam, one must get stroopwafels --but not just any stroopwafel, get the original handmade ones at Rudi's. It's the most simple and perfect thing you can have. We arrived early on a Saturday morning, but they don't open until 11am. We waited to be the first customer as a line was quickly forming. There's only two options: original or chocolate as I went for the original (€2.50) and picked up some souvenir ones in a cute tin to bring home. You can watch them make your stroopwafel as soon as you order it --super hot and fresh. The caramel filling in the middle wasn't too sweet either, which was a pleasant surprise. I could have so many of these, but we had to save our stomachs for more food later. There are many other stroopwafel spots, but THIS is the one you need to get. Best stroopwafel ever! read more

Had to try fresh stroopwafels on my first visit to Amsterdam, so I opted to stop by Rudi's Original Stroopwafels during my visit to Albert Cuyp Market. There was a wait as it is quite popular. But, the line went fast though. The employees are super efficient in what they do. They are quick to take orders and have the stroopwafels made in little to no time. The employees are very friendly and crack jokes. One even kindly took the time to pose for a photo as he saw me taking a photo of it being handed to me. As for the stroopwafels itself, it's big. Probably bigger than the size of my hand. They do sell smaller ones in packaging to take home, but the ones they make fresh are certainly bigger in size. My friend and I were full from our brunch, so we opted to share one. There is truly nothing like eating it fresh/on the spot! It came out warm, the caramel sauce spilled from the sides with each bite. It wasn't too sweet. That first impression was memorable. read more

Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you're near Albert Cuyp market to stop here. The stroopwafels are fabulous. They are made to the order. Warm and fresh with a delicious caramel sauce center. You can add chocolate on the outside but I preferred the plain. They also sell little bags in two sizes you can take home or as a souvenir. They taste good even when you rewarm them later. This is not a tourist trap. It is also very well priced. The line moves quickly and the family that runs the space is super sweet and patient. read more

Ordered: Original Stroopwafel (~€3) Aya's take: My first day in Amsterdam would certainly not be complete if I didn't have a stroopwafel! I had Rudi's on my list and when I was walking through this market and saw the line, I immediately joined. The Stroopwafel is freshly baked and made right in front of you which adds to the experience. The delicious caramel filling was warm, rich, and gooey. It got a bit messy but it was so good that it was gone within minutes. Definitely worth trying! read more

These were fine--not really my go-to dessert, especially considering how long the line was. If the wait hadn't been so long, maybe the hype would have felt more worth it. My girlfriend enjoyed it more than I did, though she still only rated it a 7/10. The staff were fun and playful, and the waffles were very fresh, but I'd probably skip it next time with zero regrets.no ambiance, just part of an outdoor street fair. read more

We tried several of the top-rated stroopwafel spots in Amsterdam and this one is by far the best. Reasonable price - the next famous shop is almost 3x the cost for no reason. Made fresh on the spot, the waffles are crispy and the caramel gooey and just the right amount of sweetness. They keep it simple, no fancy crazy sprinkles and fruit - just original and chocolate. The line moves quickly and the gentlemen working are very nice. This is the #1 stroopwafel! read more
