Well, he kept at it until it finally stayed put. That's the type of detail and dedication he had with my car. To add to that, I had a tubing leak for the air conditioner. My car is very old and rusty so Jamie and Travis has to bypass and work extra hard compared to the normal way to fix this and they replaced the tubing successfully. It took them a while being that my car is not the easiest to deal with and it took a lot of hard work but they pulled it through for me by the end of the day even if they had difficulties. I initially came in for air conditioning repair and a shop in Miami had told me that I had to replace my whole entire system. However, Jamie only found that the condenser and the tubing as mentioned above was truly the only problem saving me hundreds of dollars in return. I am a young female student who is easily swayed in auto shops but they did not. Jamie is a very honest mechanic and will tell you straightforward what needs to be done without trying to profit off of you like other shops do. They also did my fuel line replacement, which was an important find being that I drive my car almost 45 minutes one way to work everyday. They also made me appreciate my 1999 Honda Civic a lot more than I do today. She is currently at 209,000 miles and still running. I plan to run my car more miles with care and proper maintenance. They showed me the real value and reliability of this car. I wish that I could take them back home with me to New Jersey.

I'm writing this based on my personal experience with Jamie's Auto Repair & Transmission…read more I brought my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L V8 to Jamie's because I was experiencing steering problems, including a clunking noise and what felt like slippage. I had previously considered Jamie's a trusted, family-known repair shop, which made this experience especially disappointing. They kept my truck for two days and then gave me an estimate totaling $2,346.71. The recommended work included front suspension/shock absorbers, a rack and pinion, lower and upper steering shafts, and a tie-rod end. My truck has only 89,000 miles, so I was very surprised by the scope and cost of the recommended repairs. I ultimately decided not to authorize the repairs and picked up my truck. I was charged a $125 diagnostic fee, and I was also surprised to see tax added to that labor only charge. Before spending more than $2,300 on the recommended repairs, I decided to get a second opinion. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing expensive repairs based on this diagnosis. I took the same truck to another shop, Edgewood Service and Tires, and their diagnosis was substantially different. They charged me $35 for their diagnostic, determined that the issue could be addressed with a wheel alignment, and charged $105 for the alignment. After the alignment, the steering issue was resolved. The clunking and slippage I had been experiencing were no longer present, and the truck has been operating normally. I can only speak to what happened with my own vehicle, but the difference between the two recommendations was dramatic: Jamie's quoted $2,346.71 in repairs, while the second shop resolved the problem with a $105 alignment after a $35 diagnostic. I left Jamie's feeling extremely frustrated and disappointed, particularly because I had previously regarded the shop as trustworthy. Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage anyone receiving a major repair recommendation to get a second opinion before spending thousands of dollars.

Stay far away from this place. I brought my vehicle in as it was having major engine problems, bad…read moreknocking and stalling out. This is a really old and beat up vehicle and I was already shopping for a new car, and as such I let this place know up front that I was not willing to put over $1,000 worth of work into something I was about to replace. If the repairs would be a few hundred only then would it make sense. That was my first mistake, to be up front and honest with them in the hopes they would be the same. I was given a first round of repairs estimate that was a little over $700. I asked again how confident they were this would cover the primary issues, and reiterated my unwillingness to put any more than that tops into this vehicle. Here the exchange got combative and defensive. They even accused me of trying to lure them into a trap. What? I'm just trying to get a thorough and honest assessment of what I'm looking at here. I should have walked away right then and there. But, I let them do the repairs, which was replacing the Oxygen Sensors and a coil, and surprise, surprise, another $600+ worth of repairs would be needed. My vehicle had a clogged catalytic converter that was melting oxygen sensors, pretty bad damage, which all totaled would come out to around $1,400 worth of work, well over what I said up front would be past my willingness to invest. Here's the thing, I researched what would make an oxygen sensor melt (these things are metal) and consulted other mechanics. The issue is rare and the only thing that would have caused it is a bad catalytic convertor. I am entirely convinced this place knew I wouldn't pay for the full repairs, so they feigned ignorance of the total issue so as to at least put me on the hook for $700. My wife went in and paid for the car because I was so irate that to have further personal contact with these people would come to no productive good. They tried to tell her that the vehicle without the work would overheat and possibly catch fire if we tried to drive it away. In truth, the vehicle made it several miles without so much as an engine light and ran smoother than it had in years. On top of that, the mechanic offered to have a "friend" take the damaged vehicle off our hands for us because it was a shame we weren't going to finish fixing it. I'm not even sure that is legal. I'm sure the vehicle needs the work, but at every step I felt like I was taken for a ride and fed lines of untruths all along the way. My experience seems to mirror others as well, do yourself a favor, go find a AAA endorsed mechanic and steer clear of this place entirely.
