Chicken tostadas (f'ing amazing)
Vince S.

I bookmarked this about half a year ago when I stopped nearby for ice cream. With so many great Hispanic options close to home I didn't have an urge to venture so far for tacos etc. But a few more 5 star reviews and the fact that I mentioned it to a coworker had me itching to try it. The online menu was enticing but I had 2 things in mind, tostadas and steak tacos. I arrived to a small shop with about 6 4 seaters all well spaced apart. A few were occupied at 12:30. My order was almost ready but I couldn't help but notice one diners entree, hominy in a yellow sauce with fried fish I think, even though I'm not entirely sure what it was, I want that next....... Curiosity got the best of me and I looked at my haul in the car. Good thing a phone call interrupted any idea of sampling it. Once home I dove into the tostadas, three huge homemade tortillas with a layer of black bean, grilled chicken and then topped with crema, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, onion and tomato. I added the green sauce they provided. I've had a lot of very good tostadas lately, but these were better. Thicker tortillas held ingredients better, but you ARE going to get messy eating this. I saved the tacos for dinner as they tend to reheat well. They used the same homemade tortillas and these were golden brown, the steak was tender with some char too. Included were condiments of sour cream, pico de Gallo and guacamole, nice touch. Both items are currently my favorite version of these dishes. I hope that this amazing restaurant can thrive in this little town, and with its more well known competitor a few doors away. You must be pretty confident in your cooking to open so close to an established business. I'm confident I'll be returning very soon!

I came with both my son and my daughter. Very nice breakfast. People are nice, and friendly. Me and my daughter also take out order for her boyfriend. He likes too. We also found street parking not far which is nice for winter.

In a nutshell-steak and eggs 2.0.

The standard that I always judge a better Hispanic restaurant is-how good are the beans? If you haven't dined at Rudy's in Hightstown yet, get yourself there! Enjoyed an amazing appetizer there for lunch which portion wise I could only finish a third of and ordered a side of their Red Beans. Came in a little cup with diced potatoes and the delicious broth the beans created as they had simmered. The beans alone are enough for a return trip. I had the Papusas with Queso con Loroco which also came with a side of carrot and cabbage slaw-delicious. My date ordered the Chilaquiles with steak and eggs. So good!! Atmosphere pleasant and a lovely waitress. Two thumbs up!!!

The worst food I had in my life. It was bland and their rice and beans had no flavor at all. Would not go again.

Food was okay. I personally think it lacked in flavor. Great portion sizes and great service for take out. I would definitely try it again.

My favorite sides are red beans and rice, also consistently great. MiLina is a very friendly place. We are always warmly welcomed. Servers are attentive and not overbearing. We do not speak Spanish and--on occasion--communication with a server has been slow, but always warm. The staff wants to please. The front room has music some nights and can be noisy, but the back rooms are quiet and service there is impeccable. On our last visit, our server overheard us talking about this meal being for our wedding anniversary. After our main course was cleared, we were presented with a dessert on the house. The plate read, in chocolate sauce, "Happy Anniversary" and was a lovely way to end the meal. MilIna has replaced our NYC go-to steakhouse. Great food and service, close to home.

Stopped by one day ahead to make sure all was set- left a 200.00 deposit since our party was for 10pp, selected 4 apps and 2 pitchers of sangria (white and red) to set on table ready for the guest. They loved the red. We were setup in the first room which was perfect, not to be hidden in a corner - the locals might be a bit loud at the bar so don't be offended fyi. The food was great, as you know that I will call it out if it wasn't- served hot and a good portion. Service was also great from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, great vibes and most of all the birthday celebration woke up everyone as they pump up the beat and sing happy birthday in English and Spanish with a shot of aqua ardiente! Plenty of parking and they also have an outdoor patio- keep up the great job and thank you for your great hospitality!

The drink was very cool looking and a large size. She said it was very good. Our waitress came over right away with tortilla chips, salsa and a white sauce. The chips were perfect. Sometimes they can get greasy but these were very good. The salsa was amazing with just a slight heat to it. The white sauce was very smooth and delicious. I ordered the seafood enchiladas. They were cooked to perfection. The seafood was cooked just right and the sauce was very good. To me this was a very light dinner. Hit the right spot. The rice was a white rice. It was very good. My wife ordered the chicken chimichangas. They were cooked perfect. She said the rice was good along with the beans. We had the Tres Leche chocolate cake. It was very good and the portion was very big. The interior of the building is decorated very cool. It feels just like if I went to Mexico and went to a restaurant. The music was a little loud for me but it did make you feel like you were in Mexico. We will be back to try the many other items on the menu.

Plaza Azteca recently opened up it's East Windsor location after what seemed like years of…read morerenovation and remodeling of the former Charlie Browns which sat vacant for quite some time. The interiors are done nicely, with modern and trendy touches (which is considered quite fancy for East Windsor). It fulfills a much-needed gap as there just aren't many decent sit-down Mexican eateries with a bar in this part of New Jersey. If drinks with fancy presentation are your thing, then you're in for a treat here. They do have a list of daily specials, but their Taco Tuesday offering of 10% off specialty taco dinners seems kind of weak compared to competitors as those meals run $19 and up. Meals start off with complimentary chips and salsa, which is always nice to munch on. The chips (3.5/5) were served warm, and came with 2 types of salsa. We also got an order of the cheese dip (3.5/5), which was decent in quality without being overly cheesy and generous in portion size, but at $11, probably something I wouldn't order again unless sharing with a larger group of people...this is an item where they should offer a smaller portion for $6-7, and keep an option for a large size at $11. For meals, we got the chicken quesadillas rellenas (4/5), the pollo asado (4.5/5), and the vegetarian fajitas (4/5). The meals came out in less than 8 minutes after ordering which caught us a bit off guard, but all the food was filling, fresh, and flavorful. While it wasn't gourmet food, it was well above average and right in line with what I look for when it comes to Mexican cuisine. The waiter said we can swap out fries for rice and beans for the quesadilla meal without any additional charge, but the fries (3/5) didn't really have much taste to them, despite being crunchy. Service (3.5/5) was friendly, but I was a bit irked being overcharged for the quesadillas. It turned out they added an extra $1.50 for chicken over the $16.50 listed menu price for the quesadillas rellenas, which are listed as including a choice of chicken or beef. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he insisted there's an upcharge for meat even though it's clearly $16.50 in the menu. There is a listing for the quesadilla ranchera in the menu which is broken down by price depending on what kind of meat is chosen, but that isn't the case with the quesadilla rellena based on the menu pictures fellow Yelpers have shared. While paying $18 for the quesadilla rellena with chicken isn't going to break the bank for me, the disingenuous pricing will make me hesitate before returning and probably won't have me recommending Plaza Azteca to others, which is a shame because it was an otherwise enjoyable meal. I just wish they were more transparent with accurate menu pricing rather than resorting to petty upcharges and not owning up to it when I pointed the menu price discrepancy to them.
