Meaning I am forever hitching up my pants. A-nnoying! A friend told me to check out the jeans at Torrid; and that, by the way, they had a buy 1 get one half off sale on jeans this week. Sold! I was excited as soon as I walked in to the store. The carry lots of things that are definitely my style or that I'd love to incorporate into my wardrobe. While I did feel their prices were a tad high on some things, my initial impression is that their clothes appear to be well made and with nice fabrics. I ultimately purchased 2 pairs of jeans, and found the prices to be reasonable for good jeans, $60-$70. I absolutely love the fit and the material feels sturdy yet soft. We'll see if I'm hitching up my pants at the end of the day and how they hold up after a few washings. Torrid carries sizes 10-30. However, I'm a 10-12, and found it a little hard to find things in my size. There were several tops that I would have purchased if they'd had them in my size. The one gal did say that they don't typically send them as many of those sizes. "Plus" size typically starts at 14 in most stores. I know I did question if they'd have my size when I heard about them. So maybe not as many women in those sizes know about Torrid yet? I know this curvy girl is intrigued! Also, I really LOVE their roomy fitting rooms with plush seats. The whole fitting room area is decorated really posh and swanky. My hubby was pretty comfortable while he waited. Really the topping on the cake for this store was the women working. All 3 were extremely helpful, and I barely had to leave the fitting room once they knew what I was after. They also helped me order items online that hadn't been available in my size and sent me off with some really great coupons. Having a great experience when shopping for clothing is always a great feeling. But awesome coupons are even better!

One lonely cashier had her hands full working the register. So we waited till a couple of ladies were done with their dressing rooms and took over before the door slammed shut. I generally like the merchandise here, but also learned that a lot of the colors here fade extremely in the was (yes, I followed the instructions). Really never put any colors purchased here with anything not of the very same color, unless you're looking to dye a few things. The ladies (now there were 2) were nice enough at the check out. When they asked who helped us, we did let them know that no one could be bothered. We did see a cluster of other employees standing around apparently having a little chat session... it's a rather frustrating scenario.

However, you can also find more reasonably priced items, and while an entire closet full of these clothes might be kind of dull (not to mention pretentious), there's something for everyone here, and more variations on the eternal "little black dress" than you could ever dare to hope for. While they do have lovely tops, pants and jackets, I think their skirts and dresses are usually their finest pieces. Check this out if you're looking for something elegant yet distinctive.

This store seems to find its own niche in fashions. More of a softer feminine country theme throughout. Definitely goes toward the younger demographics. Clerks usually have a greeter/sorter as you come in, but allow you to browse without any hassles. It's a lot more interesting than its competition Urban Outfitters that is in the same mall.

Now this unique dress you found will probably be made of polyester or some other man made fabric. It will be low quality. It won't wash well. It will make you hot and sweaty when you wear it. It will have harmed the environment in the making of it and will sit in a landfill slowly rotting and wasting space. The store is fun to browse. It's colorful and full of powerful smells. It's like walking through a souk in Marrakech. Occasionally you will find a cool kitchen tool or birthday card but truly nothing useful other than hair scrunchies, claw clips and lip balm. Service... what service? I've been shopping here since 2014 and have never been asked if I need help. You will see staff behind the register, in the dressing room area or about the store stocking items or decorating. Not one will look up at you. Seriously... if they are helping you it's super quick (a plus) but there will be no friendly banter. The best thing about this store is the holiday window display. Last year it was a miniature Sailor and Soldiers Monument with the Christmas lights strung on it. Very cool. There is so much to look at, from clothes, shoes and purses to furniture, pillows and mirrors. I really loved a lot of they styles they had too. Some of it was very bohemian, which is right up my alley. When I looked into the story behind Anthropologie, I found the creator (Dick Haynes) had women who were creative, affluent, and educated in mind when creating items. He also had the age range of 30-45 in mind, which I am close to, so I guess I fit right into who he was trying to create for. I really loved their plus sized dressed, but I will need to save up a bit for those as most of the ones I liked were about $200. Even if it's not cheap, it's nice to have another option for plus sized items that I could use for a night out. So if you haven't checked out Anthropologie, I'd recommend it.
