Would have loved to see my dogs doing something rather than just receiving a close-up of their faces.

I left my two dogs at Ruffin' It over Labor Day weekend. There were both good and bad aspects of my dogs' stay at the facility. Good: Registration/scheduling process was easy over the phone, and the person I spoke with was very knowledgeable and thorough. I emailed a question a couple days later and received an instant response. The building was very clean and organized. All the employees I encountered appeared extremely professional and friendly. Ruffin' It texted me two out of the three days with pictures of my dogs. I've noticed some other facilities have 24/7 webcams set up so you can check on your dogs at any time -- it would be awesome if they could find a way to do that here. Minor Gripes: The pictures the first day looked somewhat like they were part of a hostage negotiation. :-/ I may be exaggerating a little on that part -- I'll post the pictures here and you can be the judge. I'd prefer to see my dogs doing something (playing, eating, exploring, anything really) rather than just receiving a close-up picture of their faces. Pictures the second day were a little better in that regard. (They appeared to be pictures of the dogs being let outside to go to the bathroom.) I also would have loved to receive some kind of report on my dogs' activities. Did they eat their food? Are they barking a lot, or staying calm and relaxed? How are they interacting with other dogs? I got a short report about the last item on the first day, then had to prompt for additional info the second day. Received nothing on the third day. I know this wasn't promised but would be great information to have. My dogs can be a little temperamental around other dogs, but I wanted to try them out in daycare in the hopes that some socialization would help. From the text I received on the first day, it appears they weren't ready for a full-day of daycare, and I believe Ruffin' It did not charge me for daycare. However, an itemized receipt would have been a great tool so that I could easily see exactly what I was paying for on the spot. I determined I wasn't charged for daycare by looking at the prices on their website and comparing them to the total amount I was charged. Bad: Here's my biggest concern -- my dogs normally eat Honest Kitchen (dehydrated food that you have to add water to) mixed with some Wellness kibble. I had emailed before their stay asking if this would be something Ruffin' It could prepare each day. I got a reply saying it would be no problem. I carefully bagged up the dehydrated food and kibble in separate baggies for each day (12 bags in total), labeled the baggies, and included simple two-step instructions for how to prepare the food. Basically mix the dehydrated food with 2/3 cup water (measuring cup and spoon provided by me) and then pour the kibble on top. When I arrived home I noticed that Ruffin' It had sent two full bags (1 for each dog) of the dehydrated food home with me. I had included the exact number of bags needed for their 3-day stay, so this meant that one of the days, Ruffin' It did not serve my dogs the dehydrated food. No explanation was given so it was obviously an oversight on their part, but it made me upset to learn that my dogs only got half of their dinner one night. All in all, Ruffin' It did a satisfactory job. I got my dogs back in one piece, healthy and happy. But this place has the potential to be a lot better than this. Not feeding the dogs their entire meal is inexcusable in my opinion, and the ability to more closely follow my dogs' activities would be greatly appreciated. I'm an infrequent user of dog boarding services, but I'm undecided about whether I'll return to Ruffin' It the next time I have a need for some help.

Daycare the week after came home with marks on her.

Ruffin It is great if there are no problems and your dog is "perfect" but the moment that changes, the owners and staff are not good at communicating. My girl had gone almost a year. Always got a perfect report card until she didn't. I got reports of her being the "fun police" and "rough play" when asked questions I got blown off or staff was like oh no big deal. Then all of a sudden I get a call saying she had to be removed from the other dogs for being a little aggressive/rough but still no real feedback the following week received another call this one saying because of her aggressive behavior that she is not safe for other dogs to be around. I have requested to see video since previous communication didn't get any answers. There was also an incident that I should have looked into much better but didn't because my dog seemed normal she just came home with some marks that I figured were from her and another dog playing rough together because if something more serious happened surely they would communicate that but no and now I will always have to wonder if that day had anything to do with her change in behavior there. We have another dog at home and she has played with other friends dogs and has never shown any aggression if anything other dogs show aggression towards her because she constantly wants to play and they have to get stern with her and say enough. Instead of the owner helping me she got upset that the employee that called me used the word aggressive for my dog's behavior, she blamed my dogs breed because she's a boxer and has no tail, me for not bringing previous situation up sooner and then telling me I was given warnings about her behavior even though when asked for more info about them they just swept it under the rug like no biggie dogs being dogs . I paid for a service, trusting these people with my dog and I don't blame them for her behavior but I do hold them responsible for not communicating problems properly and helping me find a reason or way to fix it. If I never witness the behavior and the staff act like no big deal when I try to look into it how am I suppose to know it's a big deal? I was also told this is her way of saying she doesn't want to be there anymore even though that is not what I witness when she runs to the car when she hears daycare and runs to the employees when inside and ignores me completely. I really enjoyed seeing her come out of her shell with new people and having fun playing with other dogs. I am not going to let this experience stop me from trying another daycare. I have learned to be an overprotective furmom and will bring things up more clearly at the next one. I should have looked into another a long time ago when I realized we were not on the same page with proper communication.

This place is absolutely amazing!!! We are so glad we found Ruffin It! Our 18 month old boxer loves this place and the owners!! Sometimes I think she wishes we would leave her there ;) The owners and the staff treat the dogs as if they were one of their own. I know when Charlie is at Ruffin it she is in the best hands. They are extremely flexible and so nice. The place is so clean you would never know that they have dogs in and out all day! They have done a fantastic job and glad that Charlie is a part of their pack!! Look no farther this is the place for your pup to go and feel at home and get the love and attention they need when they are boarding or just for daycare to release energy!!

My previously timid pup loving life at Ruffin' It Doggie Daycare! Look how happy she is!

There are so many things I can say about this place, but to sum it up in one word: YES. Does your dog need day care? YES. (You may not know it, but if you work all day, they do, even if it's just one day a week). Is Ruffin' It clean, safe, and perfect for a dog of any temperament? YES. Does the staff care about your dog like their own? YES. Are the owners kind, genuine and sincere? YES. Laurie and Jason take care of the dogs like they're their own. The facility is pristine and even has live webcam to view your dog during the day. Dogs are temperament tested and placed into groups based off of their interaction with other dogs, so a shy pup won't be placed with an overly playful lab. They make sure all dogs are vaccinated and that they are not aggressive, and the staff is always interacting with them (trust me, I check the cameras more than I would like to admit). My dog has done a complete 180 with her personality just after a week - she's more social with other dogs instead of timid and she wags her tail when she walks through the doors to be dropped off. You even have the option of getting your dog groomed there, so you can let your dog play all day and get cleaned up before they come home. The prices are reasonable, the care is stellar, and the feeling of picking up a tired pup who is ready to snuggle at the end your long day of work really can't be beat. Do you want to take your dog to Ruffin' It Doggie Daycare? YES. Do it. You won't be disappointed!

    The best doggie day care!

More than halfway through this first series, we are so pleased with the results, which are helping keep us and our dog safe. JO is a very skilled dog trainer. More than once I've thought of him as a dog whisperer as our one year old rescue dog responds almost instantly to the new commands he teaches her. My husband and I then immediately practice them with our girl to ensure the lessons are sticking. We practice in the training area and around the store, which is always full of distractions to test our dog. The lessons have stuck and we use them regularly at home and when we are out and about. There is ample parking out front or on the side of the building. They are currently offering curbside if you'd like to stay in your car. I'm not sure anyone here would know what I'm talking about, but walking in instantly reminded me of the Agway stores in the Northeast. There is so much here. Having frequented many pet stores over the years, if this was closer to my house it would be a go -to. The inside isn't fancy, its no frills, but the staff is so nice and knowledgeable, the selection is great, and the prices are good too! Right when you walk in there is an aisle full of pet lover stuff for the owners, including shirts, posters and keychains. They have a huge selection of high quality dog foods, and even bigger selection of dog treats, tons of toys (including some unique that I've never seen), beds, leashes and more. They offer boarding, daycare, and training classes in an area behind the retail store. While I was there several people were picking up their pets. There is even some farm type items like local honey and jams. Support local and check this place out!
