Grooming was terrible! Or should I say I say non- existent! $43 for a nail trimming, facial and anal hair hair trims. They claimed they bathed him. I couldn't tell. They had me come back the next day for a full service on them and it was a repeat of the same B.S.!!! I'll be taking the hour drive to pet sense where I normally take my maltipoo. This place is immaculate. Every Saturday and Sunday they have the cutest dogs ever for adoption. I come every weekend to see them and I saw one named Leroy. I fell in LOVE with this cute beagle. I did not get him because I already have two dogs but I hope whoever got him treats him with love. Workers need a raise. We bought a pet crate that they sold on clearance for $69 and first night puppy found the loose threads and chewed his way out. Called to return and told it was our fault. The pros of this PetSmart are that it is well stocked. Aisles are wide and free of clutter. There is a wide selection of pet food and crates. If you are looking for Kong brand toys, a plethora of them are available at this location. I agree with everybody else on the poor customer service. When I visited there was only one lane open. No cashier was at the lit up register. I was just about to put the items back, and leave when the cashier came. When she finally did come I did not receive any form of acknowledgement for waiting, or any form of greeting. All she did was say "phone number." then in the middle of the transaction she started talking to the person behind me in line. Another employee also came up and started talking to the person behind me. It made it seem as if my transaction was inconveniencing them. While I was looking, there were a number of dogs being checked in. Not sure what for, but they were all freaking out. The PetSmart employee said to the people waiting "all dogs are nervous to come here." My puppy has been to the vet twice, (elsewhere,) and has no qualms about prancing in. I know some animals are afraid of the vet, or being boarded, but to say "all" seems like a red flag. read more

I'll admit it I'm a snob when it comes to big box chain stores. I hate going to them and I typically feel they are for drone suburbanites. Pet Smart Florence was very helpful. I first went there when I was looking to adopt a dog. After spending two hours playing with puppies and older dogs it was time to pick up the dog owning basics.. ie: food, toys, collar, leash I found the staff at Pet Smart to be very helpful in finding everything I needed. They saved me a lot of time. I was able to ask different employees about collars, leashes and dog food. One staff member even taught me how to put the walking collar on. I will admit that I was wrong and shouldn't have prejudged Pet Smart. The staff really enjoyed their jobs and helping the animals. This is a typical Petsmart, but i like the fact I can walk in, with no appointment to get my dog a nail trim, ear cleaning or even a bath if I am lucky and its a slow day. My dog loves this place because the cleaning staff leaves treats and pieces of dog food under the shelves so she can sample before I make a purchase. My biggest complaint about this place is the dog biscuits wrapped in thin plastic at dog nose level at the checkout. I nearly avoided a shoplifting incident as I had swiped my credit card when my dog decided to help herself to the treats right in front of her. Luckily I was able to recover the chewed up barcode to pay for the biscuit before police arrived. read more

I have used the grooming salon on three occasions and I have been pleased with the appearance of my dog after the service was performed. Today however I was treated very rudely by a groomer for the audacity of showing up 15 minutes early for a 12:30 appointment. I walked away and found the store manager who did not seem surprised once I described the groomer who was unprofessional. He took my information and said he would have the grooming salon manager call me. The salon manager did call me and asked what was the problem, once I started explaining the situation she cut me off by saying, "let me stop you right there..." and proceeded to ask if I understood scheduling, she asked if I had ever worked in the service industry and then stated that "maybe our services are just not for you." I recommend using any other grooming service in the Florence Kentucky area other than PetSmart. Can you imagine if I had had a more serious issue? This company cannot seem to be able to handle a simple rudeness complaint. read more

Don't get your dog groomed here. My second time bringing one of our dogs to get groomed. Only brought my dog in because they had an early appointment available the same week I called. Called 45 minutes later saying they couldn't finish his cut. Been getting him groomed for 10 years and never a problem at any groomer. Took him to a Petsmart in North Carolina and no problem. I'll wait 4-8 weeks for an appointment at his normal groomer. I saw the other negative reviews on here about their grooming figured I'd give them a chance but now not sure why anyone would bring their pet they love here. I made the mistake twice. My dog is two years old and he is consistently groomed with Dave in the salon. Every time my dog comes out after a groom his tail is wagging. You can tell not only does he look amazing, but he feels amazing. Today I stood back and watched some of the grooming and I was blown away. My dog was completely at ease. I have had people stop me in the past and say how well groomed he is, even on vacation in another state. Till today and watching I could not fully appreciate how lucky we are to have a consistent groomer like Dave. He not only does a great job, but my dog enjoys the experience. read more

This is a fine Petsmart - they have a good selection of food, toys, treats, etc... I am giving them 1 star, though, because the groomers are the absolute worst I have ever encountered. I typically take my Pomeranian to Gentle Touch Grooming, but had received a gift card to Petsmart for Christmas so I decided to use it toward a grooming service for him. Big mistake. I redeemed the card in the summer which is typically when we have our Pom cut in the "lion cut," which means he still has a full fur on his head and tail but his body is shaved. I asked for this cut when I brought in my Pom and the groomer assured me she knew what I meant. When I picked up my Pom a couple hours later, he had been completely shaved - head to tail. Not only had he been completely shaved, his whiskers had been trimmed as well. His ears were so closely cut as was his belly that there were visible razor burns/scrapes. Worst of all, my Pom was visibly traumatized - he was shaking, crying, tucking his tail and hiding. My Pom is so sweet, genial and friendly that I was extremely alarmed by his behavior. I don't know what they did to him, but whatever it was, it was bad. I refused to pay for the service and complained to the manager, and his solution was to give me a grooming credit. Uh no thanks. To this day - more than a year later - my Pom cannot enter Petsmart without shaking, panting and whimpering. I can't take him in there with me anymore because he is still traumatized by his experience there. Be VERY careful taking you dog to the groomers at Petsmart! read more

I brought my long haired German Shepherd to Petsmart grooming you get a bath and a haircut. Christina J was the assigned groomer and was visibly upset when I arrived a few minutes late. She made several comments about it during the check in. Four hours later they called and said my dog was ready to be picked up. Christina J gave my dog the worst haircut ever. I truly believe it was retaliation for me being late for the appointment. There were several areas left uncut and her fur is completely uneven. After picking up my puppy, I went directly to this Petsmart location to pick out all of the essentials. Like brand new parents, my boyfriend and I needed some advice on what to get for the little guy. I find Pet Snart to be extremely over priced. Went to buy some toys for my new puppy. One was buy one get half off second. I also bought another Kong toy for $10. When I got to cash out , I was asked to donate $5 for a child toy in our area. I was shocked because my total was $32! I PAID $15 for a buy one get one HALF OFF! I went to Meijer store and got my puppy 3 toys at $3.99 each.No one asking for additional money! Pet Smart ALWAYS asks for donations for animals everytime you buy something from there. This is not a rating of the store but a rating of the grooming. Was there recently and our groomer was Christina. I've been here before and had amazing service but I DO NOT recommend this groomer. From the beginning she seemed more concerned about whether or not my dog Millie had heart disease. The grooming took close to 4 hours and I'd love to know why, because when we got her back she was an uneven mess. We asked to go shorter on her tail, and she didn't. The hair on her right cheek looks like it wasn't touched, she has hair that's still in her eye, chunks missing on her neck and it's safe to say we won't be back. read more

I didn't feel warm and welcomed to visit this store today. The associates were not friendly and I didn't see any friendly associates at all. I encountered some associates who doesn't seem to like to perform their job as customer service. When I approached to some associates, they will try to walk away from me as fast as they could. I wanted to buy some tropical fish and this one lady stationed at aquatic dept, just kept on walking away from me. I also saw her approaching other customers who didn't seem they needed a help from the associates. I felt offended and left the my shopping cart in middle of the floor with full of products and left the store. I didn't even care to put the products back on the shelves because I felt that i can be equally as rude to them as they were rude to me. I knew about there is another store called World of Pets and I have decided to visit there because of my back experience with PetSmart. As soon as I walked into World of Pets, a guy welcomed me at the front entrance and said, "How are you and can I help you look for something?" I said to myself, wow what a warn welcoming store, compared to F#$@ PetSmart. I told the guy about my experience with PetSmart, and we both mocked the associates who are lazy and not friendly at all. If anyone wants to buy high quality fish food, equipment, and etc. I will recommend buying it at World of Pets instead of over here. I am partially pleased and partially disappointed in the grooming department at the Florence, KY PetSmart. I have a 9 year old boxer mix that received a bath with a coconut oil treatment for his dry skin. Lisa took care of him and did a wonderful job. He has never been groomed and she said he never fought her when it came to his nails being trimmed or his teeth being brushed. I have another dog, a very friendly and happy 7 month old AussieDoodle, who has been groomed several times at different salons. All of which absolutely love her and take great care of her. However, her appointment was cancelled so I, at last minute, brought her to PetSmart Florence. When we arrived, Chris was working with another dog who seemed very calm and was sitting still the entire I was in there. However, she was constantly yelling at him to "stay still" and to "stop turning away" and just being very rough with him. This already was making me feel uneasy, but I thought that maybe the dog was acting up previously and she didn't trust him or something. Clearly, I was wrong. When I came to pick up my dog, she was hesitant to bring her to me. When she did come out, my dog was very skittish walking next to her and basically tried to keep as much distance as possible. My dog usually greets us with a huge smile and the inability to contain her excitement. Chris, stole this from her. She was acting so odd and scared. I also noticed a large open cut on her nose. When I dropped her off she had a small scabbed over scratch from a cat. So clearly, she was nicked by the clippers. I pointed out the mark and Chris acted like she never even noticed it at all. Chris also cut my dog's hair way too short. I explained exactly how long I wanted her face, the top of her head (she typically has an afro-like-style), her body, and her paws. She came out with one length all over and her afro was completely gone. My dog is still acting skittish after 5 hours at home. I honestly would not doubt if Chris physically hurt my dog while she was there. I will not being going back to see her again and highly recommend you avoid her at all costs. read more

I tend to get most of my routine pet stuff at PetSmart and generally the service is OK. My old "primary" store in Decatur, IL was actually really quite good. I really liked the people in the grooming dept.. BUT, since moving to NKY, I CANNOT say the same about the Florence location. The store in general is OK, but I'm VERY uncomfortable with the grooming dept.. The 1st couple of times that I used them, I just sensed a poor attitude. I don't think they cared whether I was there or not. But the last two times I've been there, I got the same person. She was ACTIVELY angry about something. Her attitude is to poor the I don't trust that, if left alone, she wouldn't hit my dog. My advise is stay away from this store. And, in reading the previous reviews, my concerns seem to be validated. A management team that allows their store to maintain a two star rating should be ashamed of itself!! read more

This store has the WORST service failures anytime I have ever been here. From in store deceits to employee attitudes and customer service. I only come here if what I need isn't located in Newport. Today's irritation is this - I placed an order online and waited patiently to get my email saying my order was ready. I got the email and even waited THREE HOURS afterward to come and get it. I stood up front with no communication only to be told that my order had to be picked because, and I quote, "it's weird because whoever sent the email had to scan the items in". I may not be some fancy busy person but my time is valuable. I order online so I don't have to waste time with the hustle and bustle of the store. I was in there for roughly 15-20 minutes until I finally got the order that was supposedly done 3 hours prior. Another service failure and a continued dissatisfied customer. read more

I had picked up my puppy from the vet today after he had been bitten by another dog in the snout. Because of the swelling and pain he is experiencing, I had to get some wet food since he was only eating kibble at that point and I wanted to make sure he would be able to eat his dinner. I arrived at the store 3 minutes after it had closed, and the front doors weren't locked yet. An employee informed me that they were trying to close the store and I asked him if it was fine if I went to grab some food for him real quick - it would only take me a second. He had no issue with it. Upon fully entering the store, a cashier whom I've seen several times before informed me the store was closed. I told her I didn't know until I got there that they were supposed to be closed, and that I was just trying to get some food for my dog real quick. She angrily left. Once I got the food, I walked to the registers and was told by the same lady "You can't shop here anymore, you have to check out right now. We closed 5 minutes ago already." Considering the type of store she works at, I assumed she would actually be pet friendly and would understand a desperate need for wet food for an 11 week old puppy with half his face completely swollen. Instead, I was pretty much kicked out of the store, puppy in hand, and will definitely not return to this branch again. read more

I took my almost 1 year old yorkie puppy here for grooming and the girl seemed aggrivated with her job, and very short with me. I let it go because I know we all have bad days. Well I dropped him off at 3:50pm and was called at 6:35pm for pick up, which wasnt bad considering she quoted me 4 hours originally. When I got my pup home I noticed him licking himself rather much on his private area, so I looked and noticed how short he was cut sround those areas and he was very red with scrapes, and the whole top of where he pees is showing skin and is also red. Now the lsst couple days I have noticed he wants to go outside more and tries to pee but doesnt. He has also puked up bile yesterday and today. Please note he has been groomed 3 times at Pets Plus and I have never had any issues nor has he had any Burns or problems the only reason I went to this place was because Pets Plus was booked. Next time I will wait until their next opening I will never go back to PetSmart. read more

I am torn because I had a fairly decent experience at the pet obedience classes at this Petsmart but the grooming services were horrible. I took my dog in to get his nails trimed and they cut to the quick on the first three nails. I could do that at home, you leave home to get better service not worse. Also as my dog was screeching (he is weird and doesn't really bark), the groomer kept yelling at him to shut up. Which, I'm sorry, do you know where you work? But anyway, I complained and refused to pay for the service and also grabbed my dog away before they could do anymore damage to his poor feet. My other big issue with this place is that there is always dog poop in the aisle. I understand its a risk you run going shopping at a place where you can bring your pet, but come on, just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. Not all pets are fit for Petsmart shopping. And if your little furry friend poops everytime you take him in the store, please clean up after him. Its just common courtesy. read more

My toy poodle is normally groomed bi-weekly, and I ADORE her groomer. I am currently traveling around the country, and after four weeks, she really needed to be groomed. After three hours, I picked her up and almost didn't recognize her. The cut was the most awful I've ever seen on any dog, she was very despondent and shaking, and it was $65.00 on top of it. The groomer was unfriendly and and kept asking if she had been drugged. My dog is a medical alert animal, so she is well trained and extremely well behaved; the groomer said she's just not used to small dogs being quiet. It was odd because she seemed angered by my dog being well behaved. Bottom line: the store is well stocked; buy your needed products, but AVOID THE GROOMING DEPT. LIKE THE PLAGUE. read more

I have yet to have a positive experience here. The staff is not friendly, they do not ask if you need help, they run from their pet parents. I recently bought a dog toy that lit up. It never dawned on me that it had batteries in it. One of my dogs ingested the batteries I had to rush them to the vet (thank good they are ok).
