I used a contractor recommended by Total Floors from their "trusted vendor" list for a kitchen and two bathroom renovation. Unfortunately, almost nothing has gone according to plan. First, tile for multiple rooms was ordered incorrectly, causing major delays while replacement material was reordered. In one shower, the tile that was supposed to be 2" x 9" arrived measuring 2" x 9 1/8". That small difference became a major issue because half of the tile was the correct size and half was not. Instead of replacing the flawed batch, I was told to "adjust the design" to hide the inconsistency -- despite paying full price for the product. The cabinet situation has been even worse. I paid the recommended contractor to measure my kitchen cabinets, then hired him for the renovation. Months later, I had to hire a new contractor to completely rehang the cabinets because they were improperly installed, uneven, lacked adequate support, and did not line up correctly. On top of that, several cabinets were measured incorrectly and do not fit the space properly, leaving me with unusable cabinets and an unfinished kitchen. What has been most disappointing is the lack of customer service afterward. I have repeatedly called, emailed, and texted trying to find a solution regarding the cabinet issues, but I receive little to no response. Unless something changes significantly, I cannot recommend Total Floors or their cabinet/vendor partnerships based on my experience. The amount of stress, delays, mistakes, and lack of communication has been extremely disappointing.

Clayton and his wife came out and talked a good game, but in the end it was another shoddy, botched, and uncompleted project that I AGAIN had to have redone by a more reputable company. On the surface, the floors looked okay but when you looked closer, you could see where they didn't bother to clean the floor before applying the sealant so there were various pieces of material and dirt that were sealed in along with air bubbles. And, within less than a day, the finish started peeling and you could literally scratch it off with your fingernail. Additionally, they used a semi-gloss sealant on my kitchen but used another sealant on the adjoining bathroom so the sheen didn't even match. And, they didn't seal the floor under the refrigerator at all. When I originally texted Clayton Bitencourt, the CEO according to their website, about the sealant not matching, he responded that he would have one of his crew members come and fix it. His crew member showed up and scuffed the floor but as he was going to apply the sealant, I noticed that he didn't have the same sealant product they used on the kitchen so I pointed it out. He then placed a call to Clayton but the name on his phone for Clayton appeared as Cleiton Silva. Clayton/Cleiton stated that he didn't have the correct sealant and he would buy it and return on Monday. Then, the crew member proceeded to use his vacuum on my kitchen floor and entry way while vacuuming the dust he tracked through the house, leaving scratches that ultimately peeled. Monday came and went and guess what, crickets. I texted Clayton/Cleiton the next day and asked when they were going to show up to fix it and he responded and said he'd let me know when they were on the way however, he never advised me and the crew member just showed up but no big deal, I let him re-seal the area. The crew member flashed a bottle at me of what appeared to be the correct product but after he applied it, it was wrong again so either the finish was wrong or they poured the other sealant into that bottle and posed it as the correct product to shut me up. Immediately after the crew member left, I texted Clayton/Cleiton and told him it was wrong again and asked him to call me to discuss the wrong sealant and the floors scratching so easily but he didn't respond. I attempted to text him again but he apparently blocked me so I sent an e-mail through his website on the contact form but he has yet to respond. After determining that he had blocked me, I initiated further research and discovered that this guy goes by three different aliases (at least), Clayton Bitencourt, Cleiton Silva, and Clayton Honorio. Additionally, his website shows that he is BBB accredited however, he is not. I contacted Thumbtack and filed a complaint since that is how I hired him. Unfortunately, I may be forced to take legal action to obtain a refund.

When she did answer, She immediately got defensive over the email exchange sighting that I was being hypothetical about the price for the project. I told her that she confirmed the $20 per foot at $260 and she was not apologetic about the confusion and instead was aggressive with me, saying that I was putting words in her mouth. I asked her if they could do this for $20 per foot as she noted in the email, otherwise I was not gonna move forward. She said that she was gonna look into it, but then completely switched up and told me that she just didn't want to do the project anymore even while the cleaner was there, wasting my time and his. Economically say that I have never had such a bad interaction with a business before nonetheless a local business that I wanted to support. I truly cannot believe 1) the business was willing to mislead me on a price when I felt I was very clear in my email exchange and 2) treated me the way they did on that phone call. I work in marketing, and work with a lot of consumer complaints and questions. Even if you don't agree with the customer, it's important to hear them out, understand where things could've been misinterpreted and offer a solution. The fact that she didn't do any of this and instead attacked me and just cancelled the job while the cleaner was there was absolutely absurd. Again, none of this has to do with the cleaner himself as he was wonderful and tried his best offer resolutions so we could get the job done. My complaint is specifically about the office manager, Katy. I hope that this business can take this seriously and really learn treat their customers with respect. If they reply to this is anything like the reaction over the phone, they're going to be defensive and say that I'm in the wrong. If that's the case, they truly did not learn from this review.
