Came in to buy a few things and once I found everything I wanted I headed to the register to check out. There was no one at the register. Looked around and saw the register person making popcorn. Apparently the popcorn had priority over customers and sales. Another employee had to rush up to take care of the customers in line. I like this store. All the employees are friendly and know the store well. Their prices are fairly comparable, maybe a little more expensive, but I am willing to spend a little extra for employees that seem to be glad I am coming in and who can answer my question with more than "...um, I don't really work in that area much..". Yeah, you had me at I don't work, genius. I also like that, if they don't have it at Ace, these guys know where you can get it and will gladly tell you. I like bringing my sons with me here, we always buy a soda and candy if they behave (which the little ankle biters figured out pretty quick), but it is also fun to just browse som stuff. We had to do touch up on a room that was last painted about 5 years earlier. Of course we didn't have the original paint can to aid in matching. We had a small (quarter size) piece of the painted wallboard and took it to Jim at the Spokane Valley Ace store to see if he could match. We were very concerned that we couldn't get a match and would have to repaint the entire room. Jim and his staff did not disappoint. After consulting with several other of his employees on their opinion of the finish of the sample, he created the perfect match. We live about 20 miles from his store and there are probably 10 paint stores closer, but on my next paint project, I am coming back to see Jim and his crew. ACE is definitely the Place!! read more

Overall I still like this store. Unfortunately I can not say they have a great nursery any more. They used to have a dedicated nurseryman and yard in the front parking lot. The last couple of years they have moved it up next to the store the the selection has been much poorer. The store is showing its age and has felt somewhat understaffed as of late. ordered a fire pit online for curbside pick up. they call me to tell me it's ready and I show up and they said they sold it to another customer who was in tan the store. don't order online at ace. they won't hold orders. then you have to wait to get your money refunded... only offered to order a new one and wait a week. thats all. read more

I went in 12/13 about 1:30 pm I was putting up a light fixture and needed a couple of screws, after having no luck, I ask a employee walking by if he could help me find the screws I needed, he stopped ROLLED HIS EYES and looked at me like this was the last thing in the world he wanted to do! I told him never mind, left the store and went to Home Depot, got what I needed, i will never step foot in another ACE again to be treated like this!!! read more

This Ace sells Craftsman tools but will not exchange a handtool without a receipt. I called Craftsman and they said the store can do so if they choose. I will shop elsewhere and help others by recommending Sears. read more

Really Ace? I don't know if it's because you're short-staffed or what, but you just don't seem to be as helpful as you used to be. I was there right as you were closing this evening, the door was still open, and a lady walked in. One of your clerks told the customer that the store was closing. She asked if she could just run in and get a small item. But you said no! Very poor customer service. I understand that you had to close, but you could have let her buy her item and lock the door behind her so nobody else could come in. Then when a clerk got me a screwdriver set and saw that I was holding a mailbox and a small container of lawn mower oil, which fell off the mailbox as I was waiting for him to get the screwdriver set, rather than carry the screwdriver set and oil to the checkout counter for me, he put the screwdriver set and oil container on top of the mailbox and I carried it to the checkout counter myself, all the while hoping that things didn't fall off again. (Yes I could have gotten a cart to start with, but still!) After checking out, the clerk did absolutely nothing to help me gather my items. A gentleman that was standing in line put the screwdriver and oil container on top of my mailbox so I could carry them out to my car. On the way out the door, one of the clerks told me to have a nice evening. It does seem to me that one of them could have offered to help me with my items or get me a sack or something! It wasn't much different than doing a self-checkout! read more

Staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Management is top tier as is reflected in the employees and the great attitude you get when you go into this place. Often they have the things I cannot get at the box stores. read more

I always go to the Ace Hardware on Sullivan where the employees are friendly, knowledgeable about their products, and helpful. I appreciate businesses like this Ace store who care about their customers. read more

We just had a terrible experience at the Sprague and Sullivan Ace store with two different clerks. The first clerk, a young man (shown on the receipt as TFH 584), never even said hello or made eye-contact with us. He charged us twice for one item; when we brought it to his attention, he was obviously irritated and offered no apology. When we noticed in the parking lot that the credit he entered was wrong (he credited us for $3.80 instead of the $17.99 we were actually overcharged), we went back into the store with all of the purchased items. We waited to talk to a different clerk, a young lady at the other counter (LMJ 582 on the receipt), because we didn't want to deal with "TFH" again. We explained the problem to her but she said she couldn't do anything for us until she talked to her manager. I asked her if she meant she couldn't credit us for an over-charged item purchased just several minutes prior. "TFH" overheard our conversation with her and interrupted, saying to us, "I told you I already made the credit". When my husband pointed out that he had credited a much smaller amount, he abruptly and unconvincingly said "I apologize" and turned away from us. The young lady told us that the manager was busy elsewhere in the store so she would fix it for us. Instead of apologizing to us for the inconvenience, she said, "I just don't like to deal with rude customers". That is an exact quote!! I asked if she thought we were rude customers because we had been treated poorly and wanted our credit to be issued properly. She said that she was fixing it for us so we just needed to give her time. She completed the credit to our card, handed me the receipt and said, very coldly, "Have a nice day". We have shopped at this store ever since it opened but we will never shop there again. We have already warned family members and friends to be aware of this store's obvious lack of customer service and we will continue to make other people aware of this experience. Why would anyone go to this store when there are so many other places to shop where customers are valued and treated with courtesy?? read more

I don't know what has happened to this store? I used to love shopping there. But as of late their stock levels have gone down to where it seems they are always out of what I need. The employees that were there and were knowledgeable were replaced by kids for the most part don't seem to know a galvanized street 90 from a poly fitting. Lately my Wife got paint there at their BIG sale, one of the cans didn't even have tint in it and the Manager argued that it did and was very indifferent to her. The color difference was like white vs. beige (and certainly didn't match the other gallon that another kid mixed at the same time). Then they acted like they were not going to make it right when she went back?? They had run out of the base she needed for other rooms and they gave her a rain check, so when she returned for more paint they said the rain check was ONLY good for holding the paint, not holding the price...are you kidding me? My last dollar has been spent there!!! read more
