Went to the Jensen Beach Blvd location, needed help finding something, asked a guy stocking an aisle and he blurted "I only stock this aisle!" Basically told me to get lost. Service is abysmal and when you seek it out they're rude! Won't be back. read more

The staff here are knowledgeable, helpful and nice people. The selection in this small hardware store is amazing! I would much rather buy what I need from Peter's Hardware than a huge box store any day. You definitely get what you pay for here. I can't think of anything I've purchased from this store that didn't last or serve it's purpose. There is quality value in everything they carry. I suspect that the products they order & carry are evaluated by staff and they don't put things on the shelves that are junk. I always feel like I am getting good value for what I pay at Peter's Hardware Store. It takes a significant commitment by store staff & ownership to organize hardware in a manner that a DIY person can find things & make sense out of what's available. I appreciate Peter's Hardware staff & store. read more

Absolutely fantastic! We are having an unprecedented heat wave right now, and one of my mom's fans went out. I went to several stores and no one had any left. I called Peter's thinking that there is no way they have any, but lo and behold they had several! The manager of the store, Thomas Hammer, said that he spent extra time tracking down fans the other day and ordered more so that they would have some in stock. That is absolutely going above and beyond! Not only that, but my mom bought both a high-velocity floor fan and a pedestal fan, and he offered to assemble the pedestal fan for us. He did that and took both fans to our car. That is extremely fantastic customer service that you just won't find in a big box store! My mom said that whenever she needs anything, she will absolutely go to Peter's first! I'm right with her! read more

Peter's is flat out amazing!! They always have all of the hard to find parts. They are usually priced around the same or lower than the bug box stores. They always take the time to explain exactly how to do what ever project you are working on. Plus 80 years in business!! read more

Peter's hardware is great... The people are helpful and they have so many random things you might need. If you need one of something you can normally get one and not a pack of 10-20. They have tools, materials, gardening and irrigation supplies, household supplies... You name it! So much good stuff with an old town feel. Try the cookies too... the snicker doodles are pretty tasty. read more

I just left Peters Hardware Store. As always the employees were exceptionally friendly and I found exactly what I was looking for. In this case, it was an unusual handful of bolts for my custom motorcycle. A young man went out of his way to help me match what I needed and then rung me up. The amount was only $1.12. I only had my debit card and the young man said "you can catch up next time." Outstanding! There is a reason why this hardware store has been here for over 80 years. They have another loyal customer with me. read more

Stopped in town with my pickup camper overnight and the slotted pin that connects to the arms that pop up my top on my camper broke. The employee at Peters Hardware fixed the part that broke and came outside and fixed my camper for me. Best customer service I've had at a hardware store ever. These guys are the real deal and know their stuff. And they have a lot of hardware as well. read more

History

Established in 1981.

Peters Hardware was opened in 1934 by Bill Peters at Sprague and Pines. It grew gradually though WWII and expanded into its present space at 12118 E. Sprague. Peters Hardware has always focused on supplying the needs of local homeowners and businesses. The store is still owned and operated by the Peters family, and still meets the needs of the neighborhood for hardware and advice. Since 1934 we have been helping customers find solutions to problems, finding repair parts, and giving advice on how to do projects. Come in today and let us help you find what you need!

Meet the Business Owner: Gary P.

Gary is the grandson of founder Bill Peters. On February 4, 1934, in the midst of the Great Depression, Bill Peters opened a hardware store near Sprague and Pines in the Spokane Valley, WA area called Opportunity Township. He had $300 worth of merchandise, a corner of a building, and a goal of serving the truck farmers of the area. From those humble beginnings, through hard work and attention to his goal, he grew a store that is still here serving the residents and businesses of Spokane Valley. The business passed down to Bill's son Wilbur and then to Wilbur's son Gary Peters, who owns it today. The items we stock have changed a lot over the years, but three things are the same: We focus on having what our customers need, helping them in the store to find the best solution to their problem, and making their shopping experience as pleasant as we can. Never ever again will we purchase and trees from Spokane Boys. We have a beautiful lush and thriving garden otherwise with multiple trees from other retailers with no issue and have been growers for two decades. We are not the problem. So buyer beware. The trees are beautiful but unfortunately never lasted longer than one year. The Garden decorations, fountains and birdbaths are nice and have lasted. So it's not a complete waste.

This is one of those great stores that I just root for and I hope that it's here forever and ever. They have a great selection of board games, puzzles, card games, and tabletop RPG games like dungeons & dragons in Warhammer. The staff is super friendly and super helpful, with a bunch of great recommendations (I'm a huge board game nerd and I do this thing where I test people by asking them about games that I've already played) and these guys were absolutely great. They also have a gaming area in the back of the store, I don't know what the rules are but I'm sure that you could go in and bring your game in and play. They also have a used game section, which is such a great idea. Some board games are so expensive and you don't know whether or not you're going to like them, but if they have them in the used games section at uncle's games it's going to be less than half of what you would pay if it was brand new. It just makes for a fun girls weekend. Last year was my first trip to Spokane and it's a much more charming town that I thought. Lots of funky thrift shops here and in Coeur d'Alene (which is barely 30 minutes away). You can take one day for junkin' and one day for the Farm Chicks. It's $6 for both days and bring your camera and a notebook because you'll want to write down all the cute ideas you find. My find of the day at the show was a $10 vintage watch from http://www.athingforroses.blogspot.com/. Be prepared to wait outside for a few to get in - my friend took a picture of the line to get in, which I will try and snag and post. But it's one of those lines where you talk to everyone in it - which makes it fun. Also, I would recommend bringing cash if you are going to buy - not too many places took cards. If you love vintage finds, make the pilgrimage - and don't forget to wear your apron!
