We eat at Rumbles far too frequently -- just about every day for two or three weeks of the year -- so for better or worse, we've tried just about everything on the menu. Service is friendly, sometimes a bit slow, but good to excellent year after year. The food is of mixed quality. Where we loved the winter salad last year, the salads this year are lackluster. A harvest / autumn salad has come with rock hard, nearly raw squash on at least four occasions. The Mediterranean salad is now made with couscous, so is not safe for GF diners. We asked if there was any way to substitute couscous with something else (e.g. more falafel) and our waiter waffled for a long time and could not answer the question. In the end, we just asked for the salad without couscous and it was not at all filling for the diner who ordered it. The burgers, grilled cheese, falafel pita, gyros, nachos, Brussels sprouts, wings, etc... are all fine -- serviceable but not anything we would seek out if we weren't a captive audience. Nice ambiance - great space and food was very good and was convenient since we stayed at the resort.

We had a great meal at an expected price for being at the base of Sugarbush mountain. The waiter was very attentive, the ambiance was great with the multistory ceiling, cocktails were amazing as were our meals! I ordered the pumpkin lobster ravioli and my husband got the spicy shrimp and grits. We also thoroughly enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake and the key lime pie. We were disappointed we couldn't go back because they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I definitely recommend! read more

The food can be hit or miss. Every year I try the chicken sandwich and every year it is entirely different. This year it was as thin as a piece of leather chewy without much taste. A couple years ago it was a nice thick chicken breast with great Panko topping. Not sure what changes year to year, but their lack of consistency makes it difficult to order what you like. Service can sometimes be slow, but that is to be expected during the busy ski season. The drinks are good and the appetizers are decent, but it's time for a makeover on their menu items. read more

Rumble's was our go to spot for cocktails and appetizers while on a weekend ski trip to Sugarbush. Their brown sugar old fashioned is top tier. We tried their nachos, fried Brussels, snack plate and Nashville hot sliders. All were fantastic and exactly what was needed after a fun day on the slopes. To top it off Marco provided excellent service for each of our 4 visits and was one of the main reasons we kept coming back. Highly recommend! read more

We have avoided Rumbles for the last couple of years because the food was just OK. Last night, we had a completely different experience! The food was delicious! My husband had the salmon, and I had the chicken thigh dinner. Both plates arrived hot and well presented. Our waiter was gracious, and well mannered. When we arrived I asked for a quiet table, and the hostess escorted us with a smile to a quiet table away from other diners. Couldn't have been happier! read more

Great midday lunch spot while skiing. We got the truffle fries, the chicken schnitzel, black bean burger, braised short rib, a spinach salad and smoked turkey sandwich. Everything was awesome, special shout out to the fries which are super crispy and the black bean burger which was delicious! Also love the interior and how far apart all the tables are spaced. All the reviews here are spot on. Sometimes the meals and service can be very, very good - other times they can be downright poor. Lately, I must say, the servers (most from South America and are here for the Season) have been well trained and are very nice. Food has been consistently good, not great. I used to love their chicken sandwich but it seems they are using a lesser cut of breast meat than before and also over-cooking it. Had a grilled cheese that came out cold and hence had reverted back to a cold cheese sandwich. Can't go wrong with burgers and the fries are almost always very good. Dinner: same kind of experience - mixed but leaning towards pretty good. The wide variety of local beer and fun drink choices help a lot. So, I suggest going in with the thought that it will be "just OK" and hope you are pleasantly surprised. read more

We stopped in for lunch during the Fresh Hops Festival 2022. Ambience was very good. Food was tasty. However, the wait staff was slow and disorganized. We were seated right away but had to wait an unreasonably long time for a server and for our check. Once we did receive our food, I had the BLT, it was very good. My meal was a decent portion size served with garlic parmesan fries. As the ski season approaches, I'm sure the restaurant will be far more crowded. Hopefully, the staff issues will be addressed and resolved before then. read more

Honestly I understand COVID has made things difficult for all business but this was a very bad experience. The good is that it's a beautiful hotel and restaurant. The bad is you are basically paying the price for eating at the mountain for pretty much cafeteria food. The menu is limited and the food was mediocre at best. I had a hamburger that left me sick the next am. My partner had the gnocchi which was burnt and flavorless. Chicken wings were bland and the Brussels sprouts were soggy. I would suggest only going here for drinks. The location is great if you're skiing at Sugarbush Mountain but the food is basic at best and way overpriced for what you get. If you want good food with your drinks I suggest going to Castlerock across the way, or even the lodge has better food. Dinner is no better at Rumble's. We stayed at Clay Brook and ate breakfast everyday with the Randy and Sandy show at Rumbles. OMG, do yourself a favor and ask for the corned beef hash, I am still thinking about it. Our last night, I had the ribeye and hubby had salmon for dinner We should have switched plates because my portion was absolutely designed for a man in a good way. Sorry, Sugarbush. We love you but this spot is poorly managed - it can be sadly and awfully understaffed (both wait staff & bar) and the room has just not ever been used to it fullest potential in the 10 years I've been a customer. We waited FOREVER for our food the last time we went in for dinner - during Brew Fest weekend. No excuses - they knew it was going to be busy. We have a huge group of season ticket holder friends who are loyal customers and ready to spend - and we all agree that it's just a shame that this place underperforms. The food is quite good and there's a built in client base. It's a puzzle because the pub next door does pretty well - to the point of overflow. We really want the big room to be a go-to spot. I do hope they get it together before the busy Winter season kicks in. I'd suggest calling in a professional F&B consultant to get a game plan together. read more

We ate here for breakfast and dinner two days in a row (the 2nd day due solely to convenience) so our experience wasn't a fluke. The food is shockingly bad, one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in many moons. Bad across all types of food, breakfast and dinner. For breakfast: Coffee had grinds floating in it, pastries and muffins were stale and tasteless, home fries were over cooked and salted so much they were inedible. Fruit and eggs were fine. Dinner was the worst: lamb undercooked and uninspiring, fries salted until inedible, vegetable pasta tasted like it was cooked with lots of gas (weird chemical taste) and was totally over cooked, way over salted, kids steak over cooked and salted until inedible (which is saying a lot since my kids love salty things). Brussel sprout appetizer was actually good. All this at city-like prices (which I expected given location). Servers were very nice, doing their best. Food service was extremely slow. Third day we actually drove 15 mins to town for breakfast because we couldn't stomach another meal there. read more

We live in the Valley and come up here to eat once in a while for the views in the winter. It's always a little busy, but never unapproachable as it's a huge place. I really love the outdoor dining, and also the indoor dining when the doors are open. In the winter, the views of the mountain are hard to beat. The buffet is pretty good, and I've always enjoyed my meals there as well. I wouldn't call this a foodie destination or anything but it's great for families and a comfortable place to have a comfort meal. read more

It's important to note that we've been tricked by Timbers (it's last incarnation) before and been met with a closed restaurant when advertised as open several times. The only reason I give one star is for the food. The service was glacially slow and inattentive. We should have known something was up when we sat down and the people nearest us had been waiting 45 min for an appetizer and didn't get their first drink for 10 minutes. I saw one waitress walking around with food without any idea where it goes on three different occasions (she actually stopped at tables asking people). Our food took over 30 minutes and then we got the appetizer and main course (by a busboy not our server) they came together at the same time and both were almost to cold to eat. On top of that we ordered a drink that, when it finally did show up after I had to remind our server, tasted awful. Like a first time bartender trying to make a drink. My wife went to the bar to return it (because waiting for our server was going to take for ever and they charge $14 for the drink). When she did the "mixologist" (as another person on the staff referred to him) very snidely mixed her another that tasted equally awful. The almost bartender then informed her (with attitude) that it was suppose to taste that way.She refused both. When she got to the table she didn't want anything else having been turned off her drink by the attitude from the bartender and the awful drinks. She finally decided she wanted a chardonnay. After trying to give our server some time I finally went directly to the bar to order our drinks as our server was awol. When I got to the bar another member of the staff passed behind the bar tender and said "have you met our mixologist? Best one around!" To which the bar tender smiled and said "yeah except for one lady". To which I said "that lady was your customer and more importantly my wife". I added " the drinks you made for her tasted awful and she didn't appreciate your attitude". To which he sheepishly replied that the drinks tasted like they were suppose to. So I said "so they are suppose to taste awful." He had no reply This place is a typical cost cutting and bad management ski area bs. Sugarbush is a FANTASTIC place to ski, been doing it for over thirty years. Rumbles is not the place you want to eat though. It could be great and I have seen it much better. Sugarbush is trying to sell their courtyard like some western ski area village and it just doesn't work because they don't invest enough and have the right people to manage and train others (the people who were working at rumbles were trying but they were leader-less because the guy who was trying hard hadn't been trained right and really didn't have a grip on the front of the house. The kitchen staff know what they are doing and they do it damn well but are let down by terrible front of the house management and misorganization. Overall the place is overly pricey for the service they provide. Your dollar is going to go a lot further else where. Having a beer and wings in the courtyard? You might get lucky but even if you do it's going to be pricey. I sincerely hope that Sugarbush spends some money on some well trained managers that can properly focus the youth and energy of the people that work at Rumbles. Most of the servers were I saw looked busy but it was chaos for them (it was not busy by any standard). So at the end of the meal our server who we haven't seen in forever shows up with the check and it has both the drinks my wife didn't want on it! She took one sip of a drink and said she didn't like it please make me something different and they made the same thing and then tried to charge us for them! I spoke with the manager. He removed the drinks and comped my wife a very bad house Chardonnay and my beer. Save your money. Eat in the Valley and then go up to Sugarbush to hang in the courtyard and listen to live music (Dave-O was awesome and a bright spot of the meal. read more

Restaraunt has first-rate craftsmanship and view of the mountain. My waitress got pissed because I wanted to look at the menu for its beer selections but couldn't look it up because I wasn't able to log into their required app. She didn't show up again so I had to call the restaurant to get someone - keep in mind this is a pretty fancy place! My burger was to be cooked medium but came out rare and was served with truffle ketchup (gross taste). I was not happy...but my experience, and this review, was saved by the friendliest and nicest floating server - Nugget - who did everything she could to make my experience as good as it could be despite the rest of the staff seemingly trying to make my experience awful. We started with a 5:00 reservation because they told us they were too busy to fit us unless at 5:00 or 8:00. The salad I ordered had horrible dressing, and the chicken was far too dry. The potato salad was inedible and when we finished the meal at 6:15 the restaurant had many empty table...so the reservation system was horrible and completely off. They did a great job with the re-opening. The space is warm, open and nicely decorated. Three things stood out 1) the service was good. 2) the food was great and 3) it was a decent value. I ate there three times during my most recent stay. I had a house burger which was excellent as well as a flank steak which was even better. The restaurant is pretty large and the doors are open to the outside when it is nice out. This was perfect for my small kids who went outside to play corn hole while waiting for their dinners. The weekend brunch is a buffet and was pricey for a family of four. They had a good variety of items and an omelette station. I wish they had a few more local craft beers on tap.
