Good was excellent and ambiance was as well. Food was reasonably priced and our waitress was so sweet. Recommend a reservation for dinner, here was 6 of us and we were glad we had one.

The pork rib-eye alone would be worth a return trip to Stowe. Classic ambience, with exposed beams and a view of snow coming down on Main Street out the big window. Our server Matt was excellent. Good selection of wine and beer. Could have been more expensive given the location. I will be back!

The Whip started a bit rocky when we walked in for our reservation and they let us know they were running 20 mins behind ressys, but they quickly bounced back once we were seated. Our server was a sweet angel and accommodative to my sister's gluten allergy. I'm going to skip to the hot and juicy details though -- I got the blackened salmon special which came with a coconut lime rice (unreal) and broccolini. Everything was seasoned UNBELIEVABLY, absolutely delicious. It appears all meals come with a maple oat loaf of bread, which was honestly insane - you could taste the maple and thick oats coating the bread. Vibe was great and as I noted - food was banging. Would come back for sure.

What an amazing restaurant. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They knew it was our anniversary and they had the best table ready for us as well as a handwritten card! What a special touch. The food was amazing from appetizers to dessert. They had a nice wine list too. We could not have been happier! The interior of the restaurant was warm and inviting. Heather was just the best. So genuine, happy and provides the best service. She made our night. If I could give ten stars I would. We liked it that much.

We went to The Whip last night. We were able to get last minute reservations. Our server Matej was exceptional! Small cozy romantic atmosphere. I didn't take any photos of the food because we were so hungry ( and I forgot). The warm bread with whipped maple syrup butter melts in your mouth. Caesar salad parmesan was delicious. The steak filet with Gorgonzola was the best filet that I have had in a long time! No extra steak sauce was needed. My daughter ordered the Mac n cheese and it was not your typical "box Mac n cheese". It was more of a gourmet style cheese combo.

We had reservations for the day before Thanksgiving (2025), and they did not disappoint. Even though it was a packed dining room, our table was right next to the fireplace. We started off with the soup of the day which was turkey bacon. My husband got the seafood diavolo and I had the NY strip. Dessert was apple blueberry crumb pie. Everything we had was delicious. The drive from CT was so worth it, we'd take another drive just to back there! Our server, Chelsea, was attentive but also allowed us to enjoy our meals. If you're in Stowe, this place is a MUST! Definitely recommend making a reservation.

We found this place on Yelp while staying in Stowe on vacation. What a great find. Cute little location in downtown and the food was absolutely amazing! I had the gorgonzola filet and it was cooked beautifully. Our server was also very friendly attentive and helpful. Among the many restaurants in the area I'm glad we tried this one and I highly recommend you do also. Great experience!

We shared a 16 inch ribeye which was delicious. Well cooked. Potatoes and asparagus. Cocktails were very good. The service was excellent. The ambience was lovely.

Overall, we were not impressed by the food options in this area but Whip was a delightful exception. The Millennial Chum and I came by for an early dinner this past Saturday, getting in some much needed nourishment ahead of a big hike. The Stowe gastro situation in hindsight is pretty odd; there are definitely a lot of restaurants, but most of them have very limited/niche menus that we just weren't in the mood for. Whip had a lot going for it right from the get-go - edgy historical vibes and a wider array of entree options, spanning multiple genres. We almost missed it; I saw a subtle sign in a parking lot for it and recommended we at least walk in to check the menu. It turns out they have a much more obvious entrance further down Main Street, but no matter. Since we went in the back way, we took a bit of a circuitous route to the entry, where we were warmly greeted by an older gentleman who took us into a back dining area past the bar. Loved the atmosphere; tons of ye olde wood all over the place, with a pretty heavy emphasis on the equestrian world - I'm pretty sure our booth had a saddle hung up on the wall next to it. The Millennial Chum also gamely took part in a photo session by the antique phone booth setup (TikTok jokes ensued). There were a few items on the official menu that grabbed my attention but I emotionally imprinted on the specials pretty quickly. I opted for an herb-crusted halibut entree that I'm pretty sure had a citrus tinge to it. Absolutely delicious and hit the spot. The portion of halibut was generous and came with scrumptious mashed potatoes. The Millennial Chum got a Vermont cheddar chicken dish, I believe, and was also quite smitten. Unlike me, she actually knows how to exhibit portion control so part of the chicken came back to our lodgings, where it created a scrumptious smell in our fridge for a day or two. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter had a touch of the quirk (by no means a negative - I always recognize members of my tribe) and was very "human," if that makes sense. Conversant, friendly and genuine. He was honest with respect to his assessment of the menu and its stronger items, and stopped by very regularly to check in on us. We were both drinking a lot of water and he was able to maintain the level in the glasses pretty well despite the constant guzzling. This might literally be the only unequivocal restaurant recommend I have in the area - this is a ski town in the offseason so your options aren't the best right now. But you could do a lot worse than Whip.

If you're visiting Stowe you need to visit Whip Bar & Grill! I had the Prince Edward Island mussels and, I kid you not, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted! The mussels were so tender and the white wine butter sauce was excellent! And you get plenty of mussels! My wife and I also shared the artichoke dip which was meh. For entrees I had the pan roasted cod with parmesan risotto and asparagus which was so good! My wife had the pan seared pork rib eye which was so tender! It's maple brined and has a smoky pineapple barbecue sauce. So good! The ambience is a mix of historic with modern tavern. The service was fine.

We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.
