    Meatloaf
    Samantha R.

I was in Waterbury for work in May and I had a lot of good food, but I was working and I took a lot of photos but was too busy to write any reviews. I recall that I really enjoyed The Reservoir in particular. There were a couple things that caught my eye on the menu but I got the meatloaf. I just liked the sound of all the stuff that went with it, mashed potatoes and carrots and parsnips and fried onions. I just like dishes that have different elements that work well together. I was especially impressed with the shaved carrots and parsnips. It was a unique way to serve those vegetables and was a nice contrast to the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The other thing that stood out was that I was with a group of coworkers and we were having a nice conversation and the waitstaff gave us space and didn't rush our meal. I don't drink but it seemed like a nice place to have a pint or two and unwind. I don't know when I'll be able to get back to Vermont but I would come back here.

Have been coming to this places for years. Amazing service as always. Great selection of beer and ciders, delicious food!!!!!! Can't wait for I come back again! The food is so delicious that we end up taking photos when we are done with the food!

    House beer list.

Mac and Cheese with bacon was legit, wings were large, salad was fresh. But I enjoyed the house beers the most, loved Save the Manuals, then the '85 Bears aka Brown Ale push it over the top. A great place to enjoy some local fresh brewed beer. There is another bar section with a pool table and more activities in the back if you want to get away from families and couples on dates.

hot honey smash burger w/ side salad

Food: 3.5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 4/5 My party of 5 came in to put our names down. We only had to wait 10 minutes before getting a call. I ordered the hot honey smash burger with a salad instead of fries. The burger was a bit overcooked, and the hot honey flavor was not coming through. However, the concept of the burger sounded really good, so kudos there. The side salad was missing a bit more dressing.

My smashburger was unbelievable. I loved it and wi dream of it.

One of the best meals we had while visiting VT was at the Reservoir. OMG!! The poutine appetizer was absolutely unbelievable. It was cheesy and bacony goodness. We wanted to kick the plate at the end. My smash burger was one of the best burgers that I've ever had. Loved it so much! It was so juicy and delicious. The salad was a good side dish. My husband opted for a plain chicken sandwich instead of the hot chicken. Hot chicken would have had more flavor. My cousin loved his cheesesteak. He said it was one of the best cheesesteaks that he's ever had. It was super juicy and delectable. My other cousin loved her mahi mahi sandwich. She wanted something different and loved it. Our waiter was very attentive, very personable and gave great food recommendations. He deserves a raise. The Reservoir is a must visit when in Waterbury. Everyone loved the food and the service. Wish it was closer. I'd be there all the time. We'll be dreaming about it until our next trip.

Service here was super friendly. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner. The poutine and fries were perfection! Great crisp! The Philly cheesesteak was pretty good. Mussels were good and not what I was expecting. Loved dipping all the extra fries in the mussel sauce! A nice place to eat during our visit to Waterbury/Stowe.

The Reservoir is a craft beer bar and restaurant that opened in Waterbury, Vermont in April 2009. It was founded by restaurateur Mark Frier. Originally hailing from Chicago, Frier moved to Waterbury in 2006 to work as an engineer at Burton Snowboards in Burlington. He soon became a regular at The Alchemist, which was a small brewpub in Waterbury at that time. After noticing the new trends in the craft beer scene, he came up with the idea to open a restaurant which carried offerings from several breweries on draught. He left his job at Burton Snowboards in late 2008 and opened The Reservoir in the former Waterbury Wings building. The restaurant boasts 40 tap lines (plus cans and bottles) as well as a wide array of tasty entrees and appetizers. In 2010, Chad Fry came on board as an additional partner. He had previously been the manager at Rí Rá Irish Pub in Burlington and brings years of restaurant management expertise to the table. The partners also later opened Tres Amigos (which has since closed) and The Bench in Stowe. In 2012, Frier and Fry opened their own nano brewery operation dubbed "Big Tree Brewing". The beer is brewed at The Reservoir and can be found on draught and in cans there as well as The Bench. I recently visited The Reservoir while I was on a Vermont craft beer road trip. I was actually spending the night at the historic Old Stagecoach Inn and The Reservoir (and many other popular craft beer establishments) is just a 3-minute walk from the inn. I arrived in the early evening and pulled up a seat at the bar. They had a very impressive draught list with offerings from Hill Farmstead, Fiddlehead, Lawson's Finest Liquids, Zero Gravity, Switchback, and more! I settled on a draught pour of "Mas Verde" (City & Chinook IPA) by White River Junction-based River Roost Brewery. It was very sweet and refreshing! I knew that I would be visiting other establishments on this evening, so I decided to order a small food plate. After looking over the food menu, I decided to order the "Vermont Mac & Cheese" (toasted breadcrumbs, bacon). It was so cheesy and delicious! The Reservoir wasn't too crowded, good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, good food and a very impressive beer list. I give them my seal of approval!

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

I love that it's all farm-to-table. Would absolutely eat here again and *highly* recommend it.
