No problems with the doctors or my surgery, but some people on the staff have been rude and dismissive. I was sent a bill for a $275 copay that I had already paid on the day of my surgery back in April. I called billing but no one was available. I left a message but no one returned my call. i called again later and was told the entire billing department was at lunch. The person hung up before I could say anything else. I called again this evening and was told that the office was closed. I asked if my call could be transferred to billing so I could leave another message for billing to call me first thing tomorrow morning. In a rude manner, she told me, "I can't do that so I'm letting you go." She then abruptly hung up. This hasn't been the first time I have encountered a staff member who was curt and unpleasant. It seems that the staff members who call patients or who answer the phones in the office are frequently dismissive and unprofessional. read more

i had an appointment with Rummel eye care and have been going there for about 5-6 years now. well on 7/25/2025 I go in and have my exam done and now today they call saying " oh we mis charged you and we should've charged you 26$ more on top of what you've already paid. I went to Rummell for eye exam for cataracts and retraction for new glasses. At the end of the exam I had to ask for my prescription and the tech seemed surprised. I got the prescription and went to their optical dept. to look at frames. I was asked if I wanted anti- glare lenses and I agreed but was not told it was an additional cost. I called the next business day to request to the anti-glare be removed and my money refunded. I was told it was too late for this request. The overall cost I have discovered was very high for the Prescott market. I cannot recommend Rummell for any reason. They seemed more interested in gold digging me for money than providing honest and trustworthy service. Save yourself some money and anguish and go elsewhere. read more

Rummel eye Care is to be avoided. After reading 25+ negative reviews, I'm curious how they are still in business! My experience with Mark Rummel was awful. He is a rude, short-tempered man. The employees seem disgruntled and after an hour+ wait, I went into the bathroom and it was dirty-with no toilet paper or seat covers. All this makes one question the cleanliness of the office in general. I mentioned the state of the bathroom to him and he asked me to leave and never come back. As surgeons go, they are OK. But the place is run like a mad house. Try to get them or any doctor on the phone. Schedules are updated or changed before you can drive home. Time is of the essence to them not you. 10 or 20 minutes usually means 30 or 40! They regularly lose paperwork and require non-necessary tests from other doctors. For example, patients with pacemakers may be required to have an EKG even if they have had open heart surgery within the last year. I went to their website to request an appointment. Received a reply which acknowledged my request and stated I would receive an appointment confirmation. It is now over a week later and still no confirmation, so I phoned. Phoned three times between 8:10 and 8:30. Each time the recording stated their business hours begin at 8:00, and instructed me to call back during normal business hours! Finally, on my fourth call at 8:50 a new recording instructed me to touch 3 for appointment desk. I did and was informed my call would be transferred. As soon as it transferred the call disconnected! Also tried contacting via fb messenger. Received a reply instructing me to call their number for an appointment! At this point I gave up and began search for another provider. Dr. Meyers is professional, knowledgeable, and personable. The contact lenses he has prescribed have been perfect. Over the years, I had occasion to see the all the Doctors Rummel, including the late Dr. Rummel, who was exceptionally kind. In all cases, I was given excellent care. This is the second time I have been here, both times when scheduling I let the front office know I was opting out of the glaucoma test because I can't handle the one where they touch your eye. They said it was fine to not have it done and I scheduled my appointment. I waited 40 minutes to see the doctor and was then told they were dismissing me from the practice for refusing the test. Very bad experience at this practice with Rummel doctor. They are brothers and one of them gets downright aggressive if you even try to ask questions. He is condescending and downright rude! And no he wasn't provoked in any shape or form. He's just a bad arrogant doctor. Dr James Arthur, who was an excellent eye surgeon left this practice to go to another practice. Dr Arthur is at M&M Institute and I will follow him there. Save yourself some heartache and steer clear of the Rummel's. The only reason I went to Rummel was because I had vision insurance for the first time in my life and I thought I'd be saving a ton of money and have a nice experience, but boy was I completely wrong! First off there is only one way in and out of the parking lot which is completely enclosed by chain link fence. When I walked into the office to get my eye exam I wasn't greeted by a cheery hello, but rather sternly told to sign in, pay the copay, and get my picture taken (for some reason). The wait time was fast to go to the back but then I was taken to a different waiting room to wait for 45 MINUTES with about 10 other people who were taken back one by one until I was the last and I felt like I might have been forgotten as I waited by myself for so long. I was actually mistaken for a child of someone who was being seen. I was finally taken back into the exam room for a total of 5 minutes. Felt like it should have been longer. I was here for at least an hour already. Then I was sent downstairs to get my prescription filled. I brought some old frames that I actually prefer to wear and they charged me $250 to just get my prescription filled. I was here for a total 2 hours... the most wasted two hours of my life When I got my prescription glasses my vision was fuzzy and it took a good three weeks for my eyes to get used to them. 6 months later I still have a hard time seeing and from now on I will go to my usual eye doctor (Costco) for a much better service and price. read more

Very Disappointed in the care received from Rummel Eye Care. Trying to get an appointment is months out at best. Customer service from the desk, receptionist and technicians is always rude. The new glasses I received aren't correct and I subsequently can't use them. Upon trying to contact Rummel Eye Care to seek resolution, I couldn't get through to a "live" person, only voice mail. Left several messages and received no returned calls. Finally went in to them directly to inform them of the issue only to be told it was too late for them to do anything about the glasses or situation (this is during COVID by the way, so they were difficult to get into anyway). Had cataract surgery twice in January of 2020 with Dr. John and Dr. Mark Rummel...Everyone was perfect, kind, caring and reassuring. I was terribly apprehensive as I have Meniere's disease. Both Dr. John and Dr. Mark assured me all would be perfect and it was. The entire staff was helpful, caring and kind. The doctors were perfect. The Anesthesiologist was also perfect. Now today I went in the for post surgery eye exam with steven myers! He is only an optometrist, not a medical doctor. I have been having problems with my eyes for the last week. My eyelids want to stay closed and the eyes burning as thought tobasco sauce was in the eyes. He said welcome to the world of post cataract and dry eye. I have had dry eye for years and never experienced anything like this. He said "it is dry eye" and that it can last a year. I explained that with my Meniere's and due to the fact I am 79 and know this body fairly well, I need a prescription one below what I test for. Having worn glasses since I was 40 I know my eyes and my body. He asked if my glasses worked for me before surgery and I answered yes. He then stated this prescription was the same as my old glasses for the bifocal part. Again I tried explaining to him that I had tried my other glasses, the bifocal part and they were too strong. He became rude, condescending and arrogant! He said you cannot try your old glasses. Well I placed tape over the glasses leaving only the bifocal portion available. They are too strong! I asked why he was grouchy and apologized for bugging him. I also told him he wasn't listening to me. He turned on his heel to leave and told me "you don't want to listen." I haven't been treated in such a rude manner in many years. Drs Mark and John could be arrogant as they are Medical Doctors, Surgeons and both outstanding at their profession. I recently visited Rummell eye care having two separate appointments, 6 weeks apart. I needed my eyes examined, see if contacts would work for me, get a new prescription for drops for dry eye and get an updated glasses prescription. I was told I was not a candidate for contacts and was provided a prescription, which is given to you in the eye wear department rather then in the doctor's office. I looked at glasses and found some frames "half off," however, they would have run me over $800 with even "half off." So I searched on line and found the same glasses substantially cheaper. When I looked as my prescription, the measurements for PD (pupillary distance)was not there and is required for obtaining glasses. I went back to Rummel the very next morning and was advised I would not be provided the PD measurements unless I purchased my glasses there and that this was against "protocol." I was shocked as I've never visited an ophthalmologist, nor optometrist without obtaining that measurement, nor advised it's against protocol unless I purchased my eyeglasses there. I was not happy and let them know I would NEVER visit Rummel again and would certainly share this with everyone I know. What type of business is this when you pay for two visits and get "most" of the information you need to purchase glasses?? i contacted another eye care provider and advised that was nonsense, inviting me to come and and they would not only provide my PD at NO COST, but would also not charge me for any appointment. My wife and I had our eyes checked by Dr M Rummer. Got our new glasses and immediately we both had a problem with the left lenses. Totally out of focus. Went back and he did a another exam. Had the lenses done again and even worse than before for both of us. Now contacting another eye doctor and never using Rummel again. So be warned he is not worth your time. read more

I have been waiting and waiting for my cataract surgery. One hoop after another to jump through...Got the okay from the cardiologist April 1 and have still been waiting for Rummel to contact me. What a joke!! I left a message two days ago and no one ever called me back. Yesterday I called again and finally spoke with a real person instead of a machine. No one answers their phones here, they want you to leave a message but then if you do, you never get called back!! I was supposed to have my cataract surgery in Feb. and now my day is June 15!! It is still April and I thought they could try a little harder to get my in sooner than the middle of June. Now I have to wait another seven weeks? What is wrong here? Why can't they just get me in and get this over with? Is it because I can't afford to spend the $6000 fee for the fancy lenses that they sell to the rich people? Are they mad because I asked for my money back in Feb. when I had to cancel the original date? No one wanted to send my money back to me but they sure want to collect your $$$$ even before you have the surgery! I don't like that and I also do not like being charged for a silly black case "to put the eyedrops in"...I have plenty of items I could have used instead of being FORCED to purchase their little case with their logo. The worst service of any eye care, i have gone for the past 3 years and everytime the staff is rude and to the point. The doctors dont care about what you say and are there to heard you through. They take you from one waiting room to have you sit in another waiting room. I would recommend anywhere else but here. I have had several procedures done here but due to side effects my vision is worse now then when I started which make me nervous when I go there. The staff is great but every time I went in I felt like I was on an assembly line. And I spent very little time with the doctor (maybe 3 min. per visit). Today I went in for an infection in one eye and had some concerns about a previous surgery. I admit I wasn't in the best of moods due to I had found my dog had passed during the night and concerns about my eyes. Dr. Mark's response to me was a very sharp lecture tone. (that's life, get used to it). He told me he was treating me that way because I wasn't very pleasant. He asked how I was when he entered the office and I responded "I'm here". I opted to have Rummel Eye Care provide me a new set of glasses. The bi focal is positioned so low that I have to lift the glass just to read. I visited three other places that make and sell glasses. They informed me that they have never seen the bi focal placed so low on the lens. At first they thought it was simply an error. In my opinion, simply do not use Rummel to make your glasses. In addition, I had cataract surgery done which entailed 15+ visits. I had the other eye done in California and it entailed 4 visit which included measurement, surgery and follow up visits. read more

The busier they get (and they are ALWAYS busy) the bigger the smiles and the more efficient becomes their service. Granted, it could be viewed as being an "Assembly Line" method; but then, it is the most effective way to see many patients during the day. The front desk ladies were friendly. I did end up waiting about 25 minutes but it was my first visit. The registration for a new patient was fast and easy. I like how the always use hand sanitizer. I cannot believe what a wonderful experience I had! I had gone here to see an eye doctor about 10 years ago and had been treated extremely poorly by the doctor. But I had heard great things about a new eye doctor, Amy Champ. She totally brought me back as a happy client. The ladies at reception were helpful and friendly, even though it was a busy morning. The assistants to the doctors were all friendly and nice. And the bonus was the doctor, Amy, being everything you would want in an eye doctor. She listened to my concerns. Throughly examined my eyes and fully addressed every concern I had. She gave me new contacts to try that are wonderful.
