For a grocery store bakery, I've been impressed with the doughnuts at my local Meijer (although the selection is sadly wildly inconsistent). I was immediately drawn to this doughnut by the patriotic coloring of the icing drizzled on it. The blue and red look fantastic, but the white drizzle is superfluous with all the white icing already covering the doughnut. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. The flavor was a combination of butter in the body of the dough, along with vanilla from the icing. Unlike some chains (Dunkin), the layer of icing was thick and satisfying and that's before factoring in the extra drizzle. Give me liberty or give me doughnuts! Macy's Shopping Experience…read more While I did find everything I was looking for, my visit to Macy's turned into a much longer shopping trip than expected. The biggest challenge was the lack of floor assistance--no one was available to help for most of my time there. Toward the end, I did find one helpful associate who set up a dressing room and assisted with items, which I truly appreciated. Another major issue was the clothing tags. Many items weren't labeled correctly, and the hangers didn't match the actual sizes. I had to check inside each garment to confirm sizing, which made the process frustrating and time-consuming. This isn't the Macy's I remember from past shopping experiences. People can be sketchy at this mall, but just keep to yourself and not make too much eye contact it's fine. They have a backstage up stairs which is kind of like their clearance center.
