They explained they "didn't have enough," yet somehow were perfectly fine selling them one by one to everyone else walking out the door. Math was not mathing. After several moments of debate and audible frustration, a woman came back and graciously informed me that yes, she would in fact sell me the two dozen donuts. How generous. We waited some more, and eventually our breakfasts came out. Mine was incorrect, so I politely asked for it to be remade. This request was met with an immediate, aggressive eye roll, the kind that makes you feel like you've personally ruined someone's entire day. She took the sandwich back to remake it, and as someone who has seen many movies, I immediately remembered the universal rules: never piss off someone who handles your food or anyone who has access to your toothbrush. I stood there mentally preparing myself for a "spit sandwich" situation.
