I loved the exterior vintage vibe of this place and the fact that this establishment has been in the community for a long time. When you walk in the door, there are a couple of tables scattered around and you are immediately overwhelmed by the smell of old grease. Phew! We ordered to go, he got 2 chicken breasts with 2 dinky quarter-pint sized sides of baked beans and cole slaw and I got 4 wings. The total came to $24. The order however, was ready fast- maybe reheated with a second fry (?) but the batter was flavorless and nothing special. Was promptly put on hold, waited patiently.....call was finally answered by "orders won't be ready until 5". Was certainly fine with the wait, and placed my order. 2 piece leg n thigh dinner and a mixed 4 piece dinner. Sides were Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy and coleslaw. Coleslaw was spot on! Delicious. Mashed potatoes n gravy, disgusting, prepackaged taste. Mac n cheese, same! Horrible....:( now for the chicken....no flavor, salty coating, big tough bird legs. The thing about going to a family owned, unrecognizable restaurant is, they are either really good or really bad. There usually are few middle ground. At first I wasn't so sure. The decor is sorely in need of maintenance. Mop bucket & mop left out in the small dining area. After ordering, I went to the restroom and found it clean. When I came back, my food was already on the table hot and ready. It was delicious, and good pricing; cheaper than a fast food restaurant! So save your money, enjoy a good sizable meal and tell them to paint the walls and cabinets or something! read more

Monday night was busy and delicious at White's! Wonderful fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, and some green beans. Wish I could give zero stars. We called in takeout on a Friday during lent and ordered six dinners. They told us it would be 20 minutes from the time we called, and upon arrival we waited another 5 minutes to be greeted. They then told us it would be another 10 to 12 minutes. 14 minutes later, when I asked what was going on, the woman working the counter looked like I just asked her to solve a Rubiks cube in under 60 seconds. She then proceeded to tell me something about "a guy in the back" and mumbled something about the fryer. I still didn't understand what she meant and then she offered me a cutlet or cod. I asked her to be honest this time, and tell me how much longer it will take for our food and she told me again "10 to 12 minutes." I told her that's what she said last time and I asked for my money back. She then proceeded to get an attitude with me and called up the "manager" who was twice as rude and acted like she did not know how to work a cash machine. They treated myself and my father like crap for ordering $60 worth of chicken trying to help a small business in Jackson when they were in the wrong. We left & went to KFC and will never be back to Whites again after going there in our family for approximately 30+ years. read more

What else can I say? Best fried chicken I've had and will remain the best. Cajun Hot Wings are a little less spicy than I suspected, I like a little bit more of a kick to my food anyways. I called at 4:42 pm for delivery. My phone call was 7 minutes and 25 seconds with most of it on hold. I was placed on hold after I ordered and another employee answered to take my order. I had already ordered, keep track of who is which line. I had a larger than normal order simply because my siblings and cousins wanted individual meals. I ordered; (2 pc cutlet with fries and mashed potatoes) x2 2 pc all chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and fries. two Cesar salads, one with extra grilled chicken. two Coney dogs without onion and a side of mashed potatoes. a side of cheese sticks and a side of mashed potatoes My meal arrived at 5:22 pm and I just gave the delivery driver about $18% tip. My only issue was the fact I was placed on hold three times and there is no organization on who is on which line. My phone call should have been less than 3 minutes. read more

We had catering from White's for 30 - everything was excellent and ready for pickup on time - chicken was very moist and tender.

Ordered 1 cod dinner and 2 grilled chicken salads for take out at 4:25. Was told 20 minutes. Arrived at 4:45 and waited patiently for my order. At 5:15 I'm told they did not have any lettuce that day (a 1/2 hr after they said it would be ready). That information would have been helpful before I drove 20 miles. Bad bad service. Charged me full price for the one meal I was taking home. They apologized but quickly said next as if it was no big deal. read more

Great food and Restaurant. The employees should be more customer orientated and no short and rude, try to smile. They know that the town loves to eat here and so do i, so the predominantly female employees act whatever way here because they know people will still flood through the door for the food. Love the food here. Tasty Fish and Cutlets, the mashed potatoes and coleslaw blows away any other in Jackson. I'm just sad to see the portions got smaller and higher prices, -1 star. Parts of order not there and when I called the THIRD time wondering where the rest of the order was, I was informed it had been delivered and that I was yelling and cussing at the driver. Asked if he may have had the addresses mixed up, but was told it was me! Manager was so rude to me and accused me of lying. Cannot fathom WHY this happened and am beyond depressed about it. I love this place so much. we used to eat here when i was a little boy. A few decades later, i live in texas but when i come to town, i usually try to get in here to eat a meal. I love the cheese steak hoagie. (Maybe not quite as good as one you can get in philly, but its pretty close.) I love the fish dinner. The fried chicken is always really good too. I suggest the mac salad and baked beans for sides. This place is a jackson icon. If you are passing through, it is only a mile or so away from 127 and i94. Its certainly close enough for easy highway access. The ambiance is a bit....rustic. i dont think they have updated the place since it opened in the 70's. For me, this isnt a concern, though...... i think it appears about as it should for a restaurant of this type. read more

Chicken does not taste fresh. Crust is hard, and way too salty. Much rather have KFC's crispy. Wish Jackson would get a Church's.

Bland food all around: chicken, cole slaw, potatoes, etc. They should change their name to Blands Chicken.
