I dropped in a few days ago for a burger and was not disappointed. I would've preferred the bun toasted, but hey, they do it their way here at the West Point Lounge. The burger was tall and good. Meaty, cooked to medium, and with fresh crispy lettuce, nice tomato and plenty of pickles. Ambiance was average, but clean and fine. Not enough windows, but it's a lounge. Plenty of TV screens, and a 10-15 seat bar in addition to the tables. Honestly, if I were in the area again I'd probably check Yelp for a different place to try out, but definitely nothing wrong with this place. Give them a try and tell ne what you think! read more

I was born and raised in Jackson but moved away many years ago. Every time I come back, a visit to West Point is a must. The service is always fast and friendly, the beer is cold, and the coneys are decent. I haven't had one in a few years, but the smelt basket is very good too. If you are a local or just visiting, plan on a trip to West Point. It's a cozy little bar that's been part of Jackson as long as I can remember. read more

One of my favorite restaurants to go to every time I visit my home of Jackson. My husband and I used to go here all the time when we lived in the area. Good solid food (burgers are the best) and the price is right. Beers are ice cold and staff treats you like family. You're bound to spark up a conversation with others in this quaint, nostalgic restaurant that all Jackson people frequent (if you don't you're missing out). read more

When I was talking with a friend, I told him I was looking for the best burger in Jackson, MI. The 3 main options given to me were West Point Lounge, Schlenker's, and Tracy's Tavern. Having tried all 3, I think as far as the meat goes West Point Wins. I had the Smokin' Burger, and it was a Tummy Bomb. The fresh jalepeno's got me later in the day. However, this burger has fresh hand formed meat, and was cooked to order. While Schlenkers may be a local favorite, it's okay... and more of a childhood memory. Tracy's was nice too. But as far as real meat, thick and juicy... fresh toppings piled high and thick... My 5 Stars will go to WPL! read more

I am giving West Point three stars out of respect for my positive experiences, however the service was generally awful. Beyond that, my husband and I were once leaving West Point at the same time as an older woman who clearly had been over served. She was almost hit by cars as she crossed Spring Arbor Road, and fell down intoxicated in the parking lot near Polly's across the road. My husband and I called 911 and waited near the woman until help arrived. After that experience I have had a hard time going back to West Point. read more

Dimly lit, hole in the wall, kind of place with AWESOME burgers. I think they even won Best Burger in Town one year. Now that Michigan is smoke free, you won't get a side of second hand smoke with your meal, making it even more tasty. They offer more than, cheese or no cheese. Their menu is complete with numerous different kinds of burgers or you can create your own. The platter comes with crinkle fries and a side of coleslaw or cottage cheese. The pop comes in a can with a glass of ice so you have your choice of Pepsi or Coke - no free refills. read more

I stopped in thinking I might have a coke and some fries. I had the beer and some keno instead. I couldn't eat, I was too busy talking to my new friends. Ace sat next to me and when Bethany wasn't running out to give an elderly gentleman his phone that he had left at the bar she was cheerfully serving all of us. Very cool lady. This use to be a great restaurant but it has gone down hill. Went here on a Friday night around 7:30 and they had tables still open(not very busy). Ordered cheese stick appetizer-waited 45 mins for 5 burnt sticks! Hour and half later, our burgers came out. These burgers were rare and cold inside (ordered med well). Definitely not worth the horrible wait. We will not be coming to this establishment anymore! read more

A pretty awesome little establishment. There are two things I really dig about this place: Dark Michigan beer and really delicious burgers. The burgers are fresh and cooked to order. They remind me a little bit of In and Out on the left coast. I recommend the burgers and have tried nothing else. Jackson-native here. I've been going to West Point for years. The food is always great - simple fare that hits the spot. Whenever I'm back in town, I make sure to stop here for a burger and a beer. My biggest complaint with this is that it's located in a not great area and that it's really cramped in there! The burger was good and the Mac and cheese bites were good but I've had better. Service was bad as waitress took forever for food and to even get our drinks. read more

I'm not a picky person so I didn't look for anything wrong. The place was just remodeled. It has a fresh clean look. Very clean. We were a group of three. We all ordered burgers. My wife got the basket (fries & coleslaw). Everything was delicious. I left stuffed to the gills on just the burger (Swiss & 'shrooms). My wife took half of the basket home. It's too much food! This place is your typical bar/restaurant with the only difference being the totally awesome hamburgers they deal out. The burgers unique for bar food in that they are Flame-Broiled, similar to Burger King but oh so much better. Plus the prices can absolutely not be beaten. An American Burger basket with onion chips and a coke is hands down my favorite order anywhere in Jackson. read more

As you will read with other reviews, the service is awful. We tried once again to have a good meal from here. Nope, not at all. The burgers were dried out & small portions. But it was the wait as well as the poor food. On a non busy Thursday night, it took over 30 minutes for 3 burgers. Again, it was not busy. But our waitress sure made it seem like that, as we hardly saw her. But it is a bar, bar food, you know what you are getting. I don't see where the ratings for this place are high or the best burger in Jackson. Absolutely NOT. Our second visit will be our last, and I would save yourself the visit & try another place. read more

This is your typical hole in the wall bar. It is located on the west side of Jackson. Many in Jackson claim it to have the best burger. I think their burger is good but prefer a couple of other places a little better because they're bigger. The rest of the menu is pretty much average bar fare. Nothing is bad but nothing is exceptional either. The burgers are your best bet to get here. Their beer prices are reasonable here but some of their liquors are priced a little high compared to other bars in Jackson. It is not a real big place and sometimes it gets packed. It's worth a visit if you like hole in the wall type places. This one has been around for quite awhile and has quite a bit of history. read more

A Jackson classic. Most people debate whether this place or Schlenkers has the best burger in Jackson. It's a fairly small place with a limited menu and full bar. Mostly a local crowd. Food is decent, mostly deep fried stuff. If I go there it is usually for the burger although they have daily specials that are alright. It's supposed to be the friendly neighborhood sort of place, but friendly places don't try to bleed their customers on drinks. Ordered a double vodka/coke and was charged $11, and it was still served in a normal sized rocks glass. When we said that we could go to the most expensive place in town and pay less for a bigger drink with better vodka, the server started arguing about how it's totally appropriate to charge that much for a "double" even if its served in a glass that quite obviously couldn't hold the size of drink we ordered. She also said that the majority of their clientele are "old timers", so maybe they saw a table of young proffessionals and decided to up the prices a bit. Whatever the reason, this supposedly neighborhood place serves the most expensive mixed drinks in town and then blatantly short changes you on actual volume. read more

This is a local joint that serves up good burgers. We tried the mac & cheese bites, very good. The patty melt and the mushroom/Swiss burger were good as well. Service was very good! She was very attentive. If you live in Jackson and haven't stopped by give it a try. read more

If you like your food totally without seasoning this is your burger. I asked if they could salt and pepper mine while they cooked it and was told no...if they did, I would want that every time I went there. If you know food, you know if meat isn't seasoned when it's cooked it will never taste right. Doesn't seem to bother a lot of people, but I would not go back.
