Runway is a nice, quaint shopping center in Playa Vista. Parking is pretty plentiful between free street parking and paid parking structure. Unfortunately not all businesses validate and parking is kinda expensive for this area/location. Nice variety of businesses between medical offices, retailers, restaurants, cinema, kids play area, Whole Foods, etc. Free Market concept is very cool. Love some of the small businesses that have been incorporated into the space. Unfortunately, a number of the retail spaces seem to succumb to significant turnover. All in all, nice place to have in the community. read more

Infamously bad parking structure. Tickets never work, rarely any response to help, and never open the gates. No response to complaints or inquiries. They have 1.8 out of 5 on Google reviews. But, setting that aside, this is a great area. Very clean, great stores, and a regular market, and free concerts in the park, with lots of families having fun. Inconsistent parking validation system. Sometimes it doesn't read my validation properly and the attendants are unwilling to help when you call them on the button. It has eaten my validation ticket multiple times without crediting me and it won't return the validation ticket either. You also can only validate once which is a bit annoying if you want to stay a while. Lots of retailer turnover so lots of empty spaces. But the retailers who stay are great! read more

I have an 800 credit score, an established financial history, and receive consistent pre-approval and congratulatory offers from lenders. Despite this, the company chose to double my security deposit solely because I am a homeowner -- a decision that is both illogical and discriminatory in nature. We complied with every requirement, provided all requested documentation, and acted in good faith throughout the process. Yet the treatment we received was unreasonable and unjustified. Policies that penalize financially stable applicants without legitimate basis raise serious concerns. I would strongly advise prospective tenants to carefully review all terms and practices before proceeding. read more

I would give one star but I put two because it is a very safe place to live. But it's NOT worth the cost of your freedom. If you value your liberty do not stay in this building. They find endless ways/ "excuses" disguised as "building policy" or "Safty drills" to ENTER your apartment without without you having to be home. All they do is knock and wait 30 or less second before using a master key to come right into your unit for things like " making sure you can hear your fire alarm" and " routine balcony inspections". They just send you an email telling you the day ( with maybe a week notice , or two weeks if your lucky) and if you were out of town you have absolutely no way of preventing them for entering. This place is so beautiful! I really like the vibes here so I'll definitely return! I had attended the event taste of runway where we got a ticket and the restaurants provided sample bites!! It was so delicious especially the chicken burgers and the cheeseburgers and the french fries and many more and it was a lot of food that I actually got to take some home for leftovers and eat it the next day! Some vendors included ice cream, urban plates, neighbors, etc. I thought it ended at 830 and was so sad because i still had some tickets leftover!! Its my fault! Can i use these tic for nexx years event? Loo I seen they have a theatre here and lots of restaurants, whole foods market, and theres a structure w/ plenty of parking! They have the best Whole Foods store in the marina area, they validate parking too. The Mexican restaurant is pretty good, just go early to put your name in. They could definitely work on getting more interesting retail stores, it's all very errand driven but would be nice to walk and shop. read more

I like Runway- it's a cute little area. Very clean and family friendly. But parking structure is a MESS. The workers need to be fired. Especially the lady and the guy with the mustache are NOT nice at all. I was visiting for 40 minutes and stopped at CVS. I had my card validated at CVS... and it didnt work on the machine. It was charging me $2 which I really don't care about paying, but I only had apple pay on me (plus i had it validated?). So i pressed the call button for help and the guy was not nice at all. He basically said he didn't care, that I had to go back and get it validated again. Like dude... it's $2. And keep in mind- this parking garage is a maze to get through and just super annoying. I went up to talk to them and asked why they couldn't let me through. Again, just super rude. They must be paid $2 an hour or something.... read more

This place sucks in so many ways. Nobody works in the office and you cannot get ahold of anyone by phone. You have to walk in the office and pull them out. Even if there is an actual facilities emergency, like for instance the 5 times this summer the SEWAGE pipes have exploded in the garage and flooded the place (a not only safety hazard but a health hazard considering the amount of time (DAYS) it took them the clean it up). If that wasn't enough the fire alarm is constantly going off in the building ~3 times a week, and at literally all hours of the day (0300, 0700, 2200, 1400 to name a few), so good luck sleeping. But that's alright you can pay an arm and a leg for mediocre amenities and a boring neighborhood to also endure insane construction noises due to a remodel this summer (a key point they leave out during the leasing tour) with no compensation otherwise. My recommendation: stay away, rent a house, or head on over to the Villas a block away--much better. :) read more

So we live here for a year , in most expensive apartment, what we have get during this year , first is - attitude from the team at the leasing office, so guys be aware if you have some maintenance or problems while you live there , the office guys will push you to move out of your not happy as they told me you can fill form and move out . Second- noise omg , alarms going on and on always this year they "checked" test this alarm for more then 50 times , you never get normal nap or sleep . Party's outside, dance , movies nights , always so loud so you simply can not stay inside the apartment, smell is a different story , they do not cleanse floors and garbage room properly, a lots of dogs and as always urine everywhere, shit is everywhere. Amenities in the apartment so cheap, toilets doesn't work properly, doors as an 100 yo , making sound . Lights are horrible, windows where you choose the view , so dirty and they don't even care about this thing . the floor is all uneven, the bathroom or washbasins do not drain water properly, it drains for two hours, even after replacement some parts it is the same , the cabinets are terrible, all the doors just fall off if you start using them, everything is repaired without much desire to do the beat for the people who pay for two bed 7000$ a month . They always promise something but never do , and in the end when you lost your passion they refuse to talk to you and saying about their attorneys , that no one will talk to you, only our lawyers, since you are communicating with us inappropriately, of course I am pissed after this year , and when you say them they are not right they do not listen to you and keep bla bla bla with words we are an amazing team. So guys come visit this place but do not live here . We have made a huge mistake when signed contract with them . A year in hell . And the last we live at the last floor so when you want to have a shower you need to wait for water to warm like 5 min sometimes much more longer , and we had a situations when the water never became hot or even warm , just see you coming back home , decided to take a bath , laying down taking a glass of wine , and sitting waiting to water come hot but it is not , lol , then you wait more and then more but it is still f**king cold . Great spot!! I love all the cute and unique shops - explore this area for sure! The ice cream, paper store, nearby park make it really an ideal for a hang out spot. Even though I've been here almost every other week for the last 6 months I feel like I still haven't gotten to explore everything - so many different places. The place is clean with ample parking and many shops. There's nice views on the upper levels. People like to bring their dogs here. However the parking structure is extremely difficult to get in and out of. On the third level near the movie theaters there are 6 spots reserved for Clean Air or Designated Vanpool or Electric Vehicles, but these are rarely if ever enforced. We've been residents of the Runway Apartments (separate management from the commercial side) for 2 years. The commercial management team has yet to fill all of their commercial spaces and have lost some that were used as selling features to us when we chose to rent here (Fred Segal.) Instead of focusing on leasing to a nice diverse mix of shop businesses to support the local community they've chosen to hire a marketing/event firm to do daytime & nighttime events in the streets. They have not asked for input from the tenants that live directly above these events who must tolerate the noise and disturbances they create. The feeling now is much less of a community and more of a mall/entertainment complex. The commercial management team should realize that if the apartments around these events are occupied (we have neighbors leaving every week with no one moving in) that they only hurt their own tenants in the process. I hope they will focusing on filling their spaces with businesses the local community needs and will support vs. spending money on these too frequent street events. read more

Beautiful mix use development with way more housing than restaurants and shops. The anchors are a Whole Foods and a movie theater. There's a CVS, banks, yoga, nail and hair salons, ice cream store, Starbucks, and a handful of restaurants. Overall, there's not too much to do besides get your errands done and grab something quick to eat. Not a place for window shopping. Lots of stroller and stroller-friendly ramps for all the young families. Only annoyance is having to pay for parking in the garage. Even though the restaurants validate, it's not enough time to finish a meal. read more

This location is the best! It is indeed always sunny in LA/Playa Vista. I came to Cinemark to watch a movie with my boyfriend and finding the movie theater was easy. I was able to park on the same level as the theater with plenty of parking spaces! After the movie, I asked if they validated parking and they said yes, for 4hrs!!! That's a steal! My boyfriend & I decided to stop by Sol Cocina for dinner since we had plenty of time with validation. Well, it was happy hour so we stayed a little past our validation time. We asked Sol if they validated, they do for 90mins! When we were leaving, we decide to check our parking ticket at the pay on foot station. Turns out we had to pay $2 because only the movie theaters validation was applied. I immediately called the help button just to get an understanding why I was paying when I had two validations. The parking attendant, Brianna, answered promptly and was kind enough to come to me in person to explain my situation. They told me only one validation gets applied so only the 4hrs helped compared to 90 mins. Wow was I stupid! We paid the $2 for our fault in our end, after the charge was done, we had 20 mins to exit the structure. From the moment I stepped in this glorious location, to exiting, I would say this is the best time I've ever had!! The people are so nice here. Would definitely be coming again!!! I would give this place zero vs. 1 star. We were shown a place, told them we wanted it and not told how to proceed. The very next morning when asked, we were told to fill out an app online which we did and then got a call that the unit was already rented. We and our agent tried to get explanations, and were given the run-around by Karla who seemed totally clueless about their process and ineffective and completely without any authority. Their communication system is non-existent. Management also non-existent. We kept our cool and were always professional and polite and scheduled another appointment with them today and they didn't show up! To say they are incompetent is being kind. There are lots of other apartments in Playa Vista - try those and avoid The Runway like the plague. read more

Absolutely loved this building and all the wonderful amenities they have to offer!! The office staff was amazing when my husband and I came to tour and we didn't even have an appointment. Ultimately we ended up moving to a different city all together but wish we would have ended up here because it truly felt like home!! There is no mix of retail establishments here. It's all restaurants. Many of the spaces are vacant. Some have closed already. The management tries to fix this by hosting events almost every weekend that are loud and disruptive to anyone that lives nearby. Parking here is a nightmare. I parked, walked into Whole Foods, didn't find what I was looking for, so went back to my car to leave. Apparently there's only a 10 minute grace period for free parking which is ridiculous since it takes more than 10 minutes to find a spot and get into a store. There was no way I was going to wait in the mile-long line to get my ticket validated, so I went back to my car. Apparently I was a minute late. I complained to the parking attendant and told him I was only a minute late for the grace period, and that I didn't find what I was looking for in the store and sure as hell wasn't going to wait in the long Whole Foods line to get validated. He didn't care and made me pay anyway. Ridiculous. This place is a scam rip off. Grace period should be at least 15-20 minutes in such a busy complex. Next time I'll shop at Pavillions where you don't have to pay to park. read more
