Great store both in and out until you have to deal with checkout. 5:30 PM 4/8/26 walked in and quickly realized there were like 20+ people in line waiting to check out. So I walked around the store for about 15 minutes... hoping to check out / buying 10 bags of mulch (pickup outside). Still a long line to checkout. I left. read more

We don't have RK's in Connecticut but while visiting family in Tennessee I was in need of a few things that I had forgotten to pack. RK has it all! I never heard of "Rural King" until a friend was talking about a place they went to get bird food, yard supplies and described it as, "Tractor Supply on steroids." I was intrigued. A few week later while traveling for work, I knew I would be close to a Rural King and also knew that I needed to stop in to look around. The description my friend suggested was accurate. If you need farm supplies, pet food and supplies, truck supplies, car maintenance, outdoor gear, hunting supplies; the list goes on. This is the place to come. I wandered through the entire store and found the prices very competitive, the selection outstanding, and is my new favorite place to visit when in the area. My only negative comments would be about the staff. They were basically non-engaging and not approachable. Not sure I saw anyone who looked like they enjoyed working there. Maybe it was a bad day, but I didn't need any special help during my visit, so no impact on me visit but worth mentioning. In any case, I definitely would suggest taking a gander at the great selection and great prices this place offers! read more

They have a good variety from farm needs to animal feeds and household functional items. Even foods, clothing and sports are covered. It's a treat to have a complementary cup of coffee and popcorn while you shop. read more

While leaving the Alcoa/Maryville area, I see this Rural King. I had never heard of it until recently when I saw comments (positive) on a social media platform. I went in to check it out. Upon entering the door, you are hit with the popcorn aroma. They give you a bag for free. This aroma actually brought me back to my childhood entering a dime store. Anyway, this is family owned & operated. Had just about anything you would need. I was on a mission to find a owl decoy which they had in stock and half the price of Lowe's. I was pressed for time, but will definitely visit again. Would have received 5 stars, but staff customer service was subpar. The only one with a smile was the male cashier. We came during a big plant sale, I was outside shopping when it appeared to be a shift change & new manager coming on duty was being told who didn't show and nobody would cover. Anyways, we continued shopping for almost an hour then went to check out. Upon checking out, that manager (red head- I think his name was Dwayne?) he was running around between all the young kids running registers that needed help, also helping a super old couple on the computer, pouring sweat but kept a smile on his face. He gave us a great deal on a return item, answered everyone's questions, joked & laughed the whole time. I'd come back to this location just bc they have a wonderful manager. While we were there, other customers brought him lunch so I'm only assuming he is that pleasant all the time read more

Rural King has a huge variety of outdoor related items and supplies: tools, livestock feed, work boots/clothing, farm equipment, pet supplies, gardening items, etc. In addition to the typical tractor supply store inventory, they have a big outdoors section with hunting and fishing supplies, including firearms. According to my husband, the ammunition was priced reasonably. They sell baby chicks, which my son loved. We spent over an hour browsing the store. I recommend going in to check out the inventory even if you're not an outdoorsy person. You may be surprised by the good deals you can find on everyday items. read more

I really like Rural King, I am from the north USA and we always had a Rural King up there and I was so happy to see one go here in the old Kmart building. They have excellent prices and they carry "Blue Buffalo" dog food, which is why Im almost always in here getting. Love to come in and see the little chicks in the spring. They have rabbits in here now! So adorable. Their kids toy selection at Christmas time are the best farm themed toys you can find in this area, pretty reasonable on them too. They have the old fashioned candy that I grew up getting at Christmas years back. The bagged chocolate stars, gummy bears, chocolate covered peanuts are amazing. Would definetly recommend you grabbing a bag before you leave. Their popcorn is always free as you come in the door. Its a bit to greasy for me, I usually pass on it. Smells great though! read more

I have heard many good things about this place. So I decided to check it out today. This store has everything and anything! They have clothes, food, tools, garden supplies, and so much more. Their prices are pretty reasonable. My husband got a Columbia collar shirt for 25 dollars! We needed some hardware for our house and they had a big selection and we were able to find what we needed. The staff was friendly. The store was clean and organized. I would definitely go back. read more

This was my first time here. The selection is huge. The staff was mediocre at best, unfortunately. Most didn't seem to happy about answering questions. The kid working the register saved the day though. He was very nice and made a very helpful suggestion. Overall I like the place but someone needs to have a company meeting and explain what customer service is. read more

This is redneck Walmart. Great prices lots of stuff to look at and specials that make you wonder how can they sell it that cheap. Lots of people to watch and see. The novelty is as Mercian as you can get. Maw and paw coming to town for the free popcorn. Take the kids to see the chicks. Chat with the people from church and buy stuff. read more
